June 19th & 20th at riverside. I haven't been able to get ahold of kilmer to get the official ok to use riverside but if the club says no to the kids, they are horrible people. I am comfortable that all will be good. Flier is still getting the final touches as info comes in.

I am making the event free and the only way to do this is with the help of sponsors. I am accepting any and all donations, plastic, merchandise, or cash. All cash will be turned into merchandise or used to purchase supplies for the event. If you have any lighter plastic or plastic that has been gathering dust in a box the kids will be happy to have it. Please dig deap and help the kids.
I am also looking for volunteers, I would like pros to teach the clinics and work hands on with the kids but more help is always better. If you would like to volunteer let me know.
I am going to make the event like a weekend basketball or soccer camp. The kids will be grouped by age and work through drills and specific skills with the instructors. Ages will be 6-17 give or take upon review. I am planning for 25 attendants. Please let me know if you plan to attend so I can make the proper arrangements. I look forward to making this an annual clinic and hope to make it a must attend for all juniors in the area.

Challenge disc golf is also making a donation.

Another major sponsor is in the works. Kids are going to get their moneys worth for sure.

So far instructors will be mike cain, kyle crabtree, turis corning, and chris waugh. Still awaiting word from others.

More info and flier on the way soon.

Good stuff Chris!
If we're not in Japan at that time, Jake (5 1/2) and I will definitely be there...
his mom plans to visit her folks in Japan this summer(and I might go for the first few weeks & play in the Japan Open), but we haven't made any travel arrangements yet.

Chris, would you like me to post something at NP/Terrace &/or encourage folks(with juniors) to attend?

REDFIVE
March 21st, 2010, 05:23 PM
I will put Jake on the list either way to insure him a players pack if you guys make it. If you could post the flier up north that would be appreciated. Thanks Toby.

The flier is available if anybody wants to print it out and post it at their local course I would be greatful.

Gawain and his sweet plastic have agreed to kick down some prizes.
Dan Lilley is also helping spoil the kiddies.

THANKS GUYS!!!

Right on... that's a cool logo!! You should get some extras printed up-- I'm sure most parents would buy one or two, and you could use the proceeds to compensate the instructors or something...
Jake Cheff will definitely be in attendance now, as the trip to Japan won't be until July... I'll surely have to bring the camcorder.

Do you need a link to the calendar (it's at the top of the page), or are you asking if one of the events will be rescheduled?

My question was about the possible schedule conflict as I assume acouple of the people involved would be playing the Rizzle.

REDFIVE
May 17th, 2010, 09:26 PM
Yes the rizzle was unfortunately scheduled the same weekend. I spoke with tom before he finalized the date and the surrounding weekends had day camps so he wasnt able to reserve the park. As far as instructors being pulled away it shouldnt be an issue. Myself, Mike Cain, and Kyle Crabtree are commited to the event. I have a "most likely" from some kid name Chandler also. There are a few others that arent quite sure if they will be able to help but I think the three or four of us along with the help of some parents shouuld be alright.

I know that rideout or someone else from the tdgpa is planning an early fall late summer juniors event out at steilly. If there are enough people Sunday would be fun. I plan to be out there regardless so we will just accept whatever may happen.

30 kids is pretty ridiculous.
We have changed the plans a bit we will be keeping the kids with the same instructor for the whole clinic. The age groups, as of now, are 5-7 with myself, 8-10 with Mike Cain, and 11 and up will be with Kyle Crabtree. I would like to have atleast one other helper with each group. Every participant will recieve a disc and a sticker for sure. I am looking forward to the event as it gets closer. The sponsors have been amazing.

There are a few more I am awaiting final word from but all of these sponsors have helped to donate 50+ discs, 80+ stickers, shirts, minis and a couple towels along with coupons for vendors and other disc related items.

Good to see you have Spencer Stuart on board to help teach this clinic. It looks like he is on the list as a student, but after the lesson he gave me in Team Golf, Im sure it must be a misprint!

Hey Chris, my son Denali and members of his school band have decided to busk this Saturday in Ballard to raise donations for a school mate that died in the Fremont fire.

We'll try to link up in July for something.

Hope the weather holds up for us all.

Take care,
Tad

Quinn's review of the juniors clinic... "That was really fun!"... repeated several times on the drive home.

Considering the downpours we drove through on the way to and from Riverside I'd say the weather was pretty darn cooperative today. Quinn had a great time and came home with a pile of new discs, stickers and shirts, he's psyched to say the least. Looks like a whole new group of Frisbeetarians have been added to the flock. Thanks a heap Chris and all the rest that helped make this such a terrific event.

I want to thank all the kids and their parents for making the trip, it was a blast! We got the riverside love as far as the rain is concerned for sure.
Things went pretty well when the main concern is how to give away all the discs, minis, shirts, stickers, towels, and stuff I think we did all right. Each kid got atleast 3 discs (1 with a signature from someone better than most), a shirt, minis, stickers, and even a pencil. Parents standing around got some plastic and other stuff, even some random dude walking around got a free disc. I still have a few things left over. The sponsor support was amazing 90+ discs, 40 shirts, 70+ minis, 100+ stickers, towels, patches, pencils, three legged dogs, and 1 unicorn all divided between 15 kids and anyone else that was around when I needed to get rid of something.

The sponsor support was nutty.
THANK YOU FOR HELPING!!!!!!!!!!!!

I heard a couple of really good reviews on Saturday night about the clinic. The ring of fire pro wants to play her first tournament asap. Thanks to everybody for putting the clinic together and to all of the people who donated their time and prizes.

The only negative thing I heard was dissapointment from the kids about not being able to get out there again on Sunday. Definite success.

Thanks again

I want to invite all the NW juniors down to our tournament in August. We have just put in specially designed 12 and under t-pads " Little Flyer T-Pads". We did this to help encourage the youngest of players!

Our juniors field will have its own ctp, players pack and awards, all for only $10 plus it's just a 1 day event so it'll be easier for the younger players. Of course the parents can sign-up and play as well.

For full details check-out the post on the forums (rising island open)or at...

I had someone PM me a very good question, so I wanted to add some info about the Juniors...

EVERY Junior card will have an adult walking/ scoring with them to keep them safe as well as keep things moving along in the tournament.

If we have more than 1 card of Juniors we'll have like ages together as well ... 8-10 year olds 11 - 12 year olds, ect...

I hope that helps some of you make a decision about coming. My wife and I have an 8 year-old so we really go out of our way to promote the sport for the youngest of players.

Hope to see you all in about a month!
