here we go. 1 tourney to go, and now 3 people can win outright, and 1 more can tie for the win. What a series..... Those big boys from up north that come down to Whistlers could make this very interesting..... Could we have a tie?

I've seen it happen back when J.D. and Lane Mason use to battle for the title.
Years back there was always a posse of northerners that use to come down from as far as PDX for the WB gig.
It would make it very, very interesting.
I wouldn't doubt it if Lane showed up for this one anyway, he usually does.
I'll give J.D. a call too. :biggrin2:
This could get real exciting.

So who ended up winning sunday and the series?

Kirk M. won with a -9
I managed to squeak out a 4th place. So that put Scotty, Shane and I in a 3-way tie for first.:trophy:

I will be posting the scores later today. I will also be posting a list of all the qualifiers for the finals at Sam Brown.

Devin, good job doing what you needed to do!
Is a final 9 in order for you fellers at Sam Brown?
Maybe a big poker game, next to Sam's grave so he can play too.
Saturday would probably work out the best for a playoff.
We could have a gallery for you guys, which is lots of fun. (side bets anyone?)
Sunday could find us with a lot of golfers and not enough time.
Chances are I have the time to set up a pretty sick 9 hole course out there.
Do ya trust me?

Yose,

I think we decided that we want to play an 18 hole round for it. Seems like a lot on the line for just nine holes. If you wanna set up a few super tees on your normal layout that would be cool, maybe make 3 par 4's or something to do, you could make a few of them crazy long or something for us.

We could do 9 with a few people watching then everyone could tag along as we go hopefully creating a galery for the final few holes, or they could follow the whole time,

Anyway we look at it we are just playing for trophy's and money, i think we all agreed to share the title of 2009-2010 SOWS champion.

How much is the difference in overalls between first second and third in money so we can decide if we want to play for it or just split it?

Scotty,
Saturday has been one of those 'you never know' what's going to happen days.
It's usually all setup on Saturday, we're just never sure what time.
I'm sure the baskets will be up by Sunday, which has always been the main day, with the top shooters from each division in the same group playing 18 holes.
You guys have some time to ponder.

113 qualifiers that will be some big groups. I think most everybody will be there, probably around 100 or so the bigger the groups the better. Good thing it is only for one round. Then the late round of doubles will be fun. There is a big ace pot left over( no aces at Safari, Selmac, or Whistlers) what should we do with?

Huk-DMC
March 25th, 2010, 09:24 PM
I think that we should take the ace pot and do a Pro/Am random draw doubles and payout with that and have a good time.:cheers:

What if SOWS dger's donated the ace pot money to the Grants Pass DGC towards the purchase of a Mach III (hint) for Tom & Watta Pearce Park?
There's $396 in ace pot cash and $35 that Jim Johnson (thanks bud) donated for a basket fund.

That sounds even better. You are a genius Yose. I noticed today playing a round at pearce that we are up to 6 baskets already!! Just 12 more and we will get to put them all in and never get pearced again!! yay.

At the risk of sounding like a asshole like normal, i would prefer the money be given out at the finals, in a doubles game or some other format. It was paid in for the SOWS, if people want to donate their winnings from this fund (Assuming we did a doubles game for it Pro/Am) then that would be cool, and their choice. I would like to see all the baskets in at Pearce as much as anyone else that does not live in GP i assume but WE ALL paid this money in and $400 makes for a great round with a chance to play with different players (AMs with pro's and Pro's with AMs)

Just my opinion

In my opinion donating the money to any course is better than padding the pockets of the players that have been winning all year anyway. Maybe we could vote on it or do a half and half thing or something. Either way I think we should grow the sport and donate.

Scott, don't worry about sounding like an asshole like normal. :wink2:
That money was put in to the ace pot originally to be awarded as prize money. So the thought of keeping said cash for the players IMO, is alright.
I just know what it was like before we had all the baskets at Whistlers and got excited at a chance to help out.

Looking like a vote on Sam Brown Sunday eh?
I vote for chains baby and will try and use my brainwashing powers to convince the rest. :biggrin2:

Did I mention that Sam Brown got very SICK?
I took both of my golden's up there Sunday and they dug up some new holes.
They actually dug up some of the old ones too, especially the ones with little critters popping their heads up.

my above post is of course bias because Pearce is the only basket course within an hour of me and the baskets aren't even "good baskets" for lack of a better word. You know where my votes going:biggrin2:

If the dubs get the vote here's a gudt idea for the teams.
Some places call it high/low, green blue, but you take the top pro and team them up with the last place finisher in the ams (women included) and work your way towards the middle of the pack. IMO this format is as fair as you can get mixing pro/ams.
Spencer is working on a printout right now.
Prolly won't matter after the vote.:whistler:

WOW!!! What a genius idea! . . . I do wonder if the teams towards the middle would have a better chance, but I think, NOT SO. It is very easy to undermind the utility usefullness of a player that only throws 200-250 ft . . .

Sounds like a great idea . . . if only I coulda played worse . . . wait, not possible! lmao

If we are donating that money to a course lets split the cash between piece, selmac and whistlers. If padding the players pockets isn't fair donating the money to only one course is just as or even more unfair.

My vote is DONATE!!!

How kickass would it be to be playing next years winter series TP event with all new baskets. No gongs, no pearcings, just the sweet sound of crispy new chains.
Continue growing southern oregon disc golf!!

I agree, Donating to multiple courses is just as good. As long as we are donating it to disc golf and not individuals. :D *Pro Discatcher*

you know while we are at giving money to everyone elses courses, Mingus is missing 2 baskets and we have at least 1 probably 2 new courses going in the ground in the next 3 months. We could use the money too...

What i meant by that is that i would love for this ace pot money to go to any course. Be it whistlers, mingus, pearce or all of the above, rather than getting played for and going into any individuals pocket. Sorry if i was unclear.

FWIW.....
Hole 14 at Slam Bam Sam Brown should get aced.
It's under 200' and I think it'll get nailed at least 2 or 3 times.
Along with the aces will be a few bogeys, because it is an island hole with about a 30' circle of safe green to land on.
I think the 6 ' under hole (Sams Grave), which is now # 2, will get aced.
:wink2:
