Just throwing it out there, LAST resort, i will have a innova discatcher cloth basket, but i would think we would all prefer not to play it unless we have to. We will be there to Rep Coos Bay again and hopefully take win #3 of the series for southern oregon. Right now Southern Oregon is 2-0 in terms of having the winner :)

right on scotty. i'm super psyched to see people traveling to (and winning) our mid valley tournies. looks like we have enough metal baskets as of right now, with a few cloth baskets as reserves. i'm at work right now but will post the list later tonight.

I don't know how to say this without seeming super dis-respectful to those who came before... but I have to say that you Southern Oregon Folk have been bringing it in a big way this winter and putting us Northern folk in our place more than I've ever seen before. Southern Oregon Winter Series is now the best show in town south of P-town and Team Golf and the competition has clearly been developing some talent down there.

Any directions to the park? or is it pretty easy to find where the tourney central will be?

Andy,
I take your words very personal and appreciate them more than you'll know.
FYI.... if you make the rest of em you can qualify for the fantastic........... Sam Brown course and the SOWS overalls.
thank you bud!

DR. Z. sorry for the thread drift.
I have to set up my Ice Bowl that day and can't make it.

Are we using Andrew's course or a new design?

Are we using Andrew's course or a new design?

a little bit of both andy. i am using andrews course as a blueprint, and then skewing about half that shots to my liking. not that i don't like drew's course, i just want a little more variety, and less open bombs.

i will be out there tomorrow afternoon walking the course. if anyone wants to join please feel free to get in touch with me...

here's the quick map i threw together. for those of you that played in either the emerald valley open or the nwdgc, take that layout and add quite a few more hundred feet and a whole other section on the bottom right (holes 5, 6, and 7).
we also added a par 4 (12) and a scary water shot (14). it will certainly play a few strokes harder this time around...

thanks to nate sexton, andrew rich, sam larsen, and xander waibel for helping me lay it out. it was a beautiful day out there today...

a few notes about rules and the course...

Rules:
The 3 Rules one must abide by so Dr. Zaius won't have to exterminate you...
1) STAY OFF OF PRE'S TRAIL! (yes, he may be long passed, but his mustache alone demands respect and appreciation)
2) GIVE ALL RUNNERS AND WALKERS RIGHT OF WAY! (yesterday one of us almost plowed a max into some lady's face who was on her phone. this would not have been good)
3) NO BEER OR DRUGS ON THE COURSE!!! (ironical? yes, but we must respect our city's laws to get this course put in. so pound your beers in your car or at home before you get there, but not in your car while you're getting there)

Notes about the course:
Holes 8 and 11 have a road flanking one side that will act as ob
Hole 12 is well over 600 feet and will play as a par 4. (which makes no difference)
Hole 13 is a tunnel shot with a mando rope you must go under. there will also be an Am pad and a Pro pad.
Hole 14 has water directly passed the basket. water is ob.
The Whole Course: is friggin' awesome and will dominate your face.

well done everyone! today easily slides into the "success" category. chalk it up statisticians. scores will be posted tomorrow...

but for today, a few favorite overheard quotes...

1. Nate Sexton: "hey will, why did you move that basket further back than what we set up on thursday? that shot is near impossible to two!"
Me: "yup. just for you" :biggrin2:

2. (after our backup on the 3rd hole of the morning)
Andy Hock: "there's a lot of people here. what did you cap it at?"
Me: "uh, 84"
Andy: "how many people are here?"
Me "uh, over a hundered"
Andy: http://www.ezupa.com/misc/banana-still.gif

3. Brian Lupton: "is that a fu*^ing bunny on a leash?"

4. Me to Justin Hiatt: "how did the course treat ya?"
Justin Hiatt: "it dominated my face..." http://www.panicfreaks.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=31399&stc=1&d=1258313384

Andy that was a great second round, it was fun to just sit back and watch you play. You reminded me that disc golf is FUN.

Another outstanding display of DG organization by the Larsons, Facklers, and Huntoons. Great sense of community in the park that day, which was witnessed by hundreds of other park users.

Nice seeing Pure Disc Golf out there with a great selection of plastic and Discgolf Oregon who always are there to support local events.

Fun seeing people show up on bicycles!

Thanks to everyone whoo helped pull this off and to Andrew Rich for showing us that there can be a DG course that works well with other users.
