I am thinking about making it a 4 player scramble.

February 3rd, 2010, 02:18 PM
How would tha scramble work?????
Would you have 8 players on a hole? I trust disc golfers more than anyone but with 4 players per hole and per team there could be room for error when marking scorecards?
LakeStevensBA
February 3rd, 2010, 03:28 PM
How about 2 man teams and 1 person has to throw with his opposite hand? That would allow me to play again! Is that being selfish asking for this? Come on!

February 3rd, 2010, 03:50 PM
I heard the mystery venue is going to be either at Ferguson in Snohomish or Sanislo Elementary in Seattle. Any truth to this?
I think it would be the most challenging doubles yet.
cefire
February 3rd, 2010, 07:24 PM
Ferguson 4 man scramble would be freakin spectacular! You could do like 8 rounds. The rule could be any team that scores a 3 would be autoeliminated.

I heard Jub is building an eco dome somewhere in the snoqualmie national forest complete with tropical botanicals and wildlife.
He might need to borrow a couple baskets for the day of if anyone has some extras.
The budget got stretched a little thin after the internet guy selling the 37 spider monkeys took the money and ran.

Would it be fun if you had GPS coord?
I already know the Depot team is coming. Pa and son Miller, Phillips and Westie.

I'm curious as to why the site is still a mystery. Waiting for approval from a course or just keeping it secret?
Jub, I would like to buy you a really nice steak dinner on Saturday. All expenses paid including the fine wines. Meet me at the restaurant at 7:00pm. Location is a mystery though...

February 12th, 2010, 11:01 AM
Alright I can tell you this venue is in greater East King county.
(Car-pooling encouraged)
It has never had DG before.
There will be 18 baskets for Sat play.
It will have targets available for play afterwards.
It will be available for play the week before.
I have laid out a course outline and have 18 holes 10 of them 325' or less
There will be elevation changes up, down and cross slope.
It is a links style course consisting of two halves the "outward 9" go away from the first hole. the "inward 9" play back to it.
Unfortunately this venue is limited to 18 4 player teams.
I will be taking "team pre regs" at Guys SeaTac the weekend before.

Question for you Jub, if I play with Sheila and Thomas and one other assumed to be AM, what division should we play? I heard there will be three (Pro, Old, Am) - I don't think any of the three of us are interested in prizes or anything, we just want to play together but don't want to make a huge donation at the same time just because we've got one pro (not really :) ) on the team.

I like ball golf much better when I'm not worrying about my score, and the opposite goes for dg...
I've got more slice than Wonder Bread with a driver, and you've probably seen better swings than mine on a playground... but I have fun because there's zero expectation. The mixed event sounds fun, but if it we're BYOP I could see some controversy.:nono:

Kyle also asked about signing up. Toby told me days ago about another team(yours) it's signed up as Team 4 square If the LS boys show we have 15 teams so there should be room for 3-4 more teams.
I understand Big Dog was commandeered from the Big Dog Park team.
I also heard a rumor that Corning,Bailey, Hersman and Schindler might just polish off the rust and play.
Side note The Chief (like most other courses)leases it's carts so during the winter they keep only 18 carts.
Lunch will be offered at $5 per Burger/fixins, potato salad and a cup (for keg beer).

Jub and Erik have been deligently working on the course, and it's shaping up rather nicely for a piece of land that hasn't been used in 5 years. There are lots of blackberries to eradicate, and we noticed that you need to keep a sharp eye on your disc as it can disappear in the grass. Also, some of the tees are going to be soft so wear appropriate footware.
This initial layout is very fun and will only get better with use. I'm hungrily eyeing the woods on the ridge thinking we can get several holes in there to get a true variey of shots. The potential for it to be a five-star destination course is huge. Let's fill this sucka up Saturday!

Thanks for the heads up. So I take it this is more of a boots and gaiters affair rather than shorts and sneakers?
Also Jub, since there are only 18 carts available, would it be possible to set aside 1 per team? I'm pretty sure everybody would like to have carts but it looks like that won't be possible (unless these are some of those pimpin' 4 seaters). If people will have to be walking at least part of the time, it'd be a lot easier if their bags could ride in a cart.

Boots yes, Gaiters, probably not. There are a few soft spots but I would not call it a slog.
We are sharing the 18 available carts with the ball golfers, so I am doubtful that we can reserve one per team. I believe the carts are available only on a first come first served basis

How tall is the grass though? Keeping my pants legs from turning into soggy towels would be a big reason for me wearing gaiters.
And bolfers...yeah...didn't think about them. Doh! It'd be cool if there could be some sort of gentleman's agreement to not take more than 1 cart per team.

I think we should all show up super early and wait in line before the ball golfers and get the 18 carts, one per team, then everyone has one. But yeah we should only be allowed one per team so everyone has a chance, good idea Tim.
LJ Jubner
March 4th, 2010, 05:45 PM
I don't honestly believe the Baller's will be a problem. I am not sure if I want to give up my two carts. Getty contact Carnation and see if they would rent carts to use at the Chief for the day.
There are a couple of other things I want to talk about
First speed of play. I would like to see each group play at a 7 min per hole rate (2 hrs 6 min.) My suggestion is don't bring all of your starting plastic. Be willing to come back and look afterward. At least you will have the carts to use.
Second Habits At the far end of the course are some houses. We need to be considerate players and watch our language and anything else that might cause trouble for both the Course and DG as a whole.
I'd like to ask for your patience on Sat Morning regarding the baskets. We will get them out as early as possible.

You know, I get the feeling that the Tall Chief crew isn't going to want us back anytime soon.
What makes you say that?
The jackass Marshall? The carts? The weather?
When I spoke to the actual person who does count. He seemed just fine with us back anytime? I will no more about how well the course fared by the end of the week.
One thing I want to apologize for was the course was poorly marked. I foolishly believed a DG'r who offered to mark the course the day before actually following through with it.
I do want to thank Erik and Getty for all the time and effort they put in, succeeding in getting the course ready. When all is said and done the course is still only two weeks old. (2-19)
We hope to have the targets in place by next weekend. As you would expect some ideas were suggested about various holes in general.
My starting question is about the two hubs in the course.
#1 3,14 Green's, 4, 16 tee (Now, call the bone yard.) Pic 1 of three

[QUOTE=LJ Jubner;55873]What makes you say that?
The jackass Marshall? The carts? The weather?
When I spoke to the actual person who does count. He seemed just fine with us back anytime? I will no more about how well the course fared by the end of the week.>>
When I talked to him yesterday evening he seemed pretty happy with us. We bought a bunch of food and generally behaved quite well. The only jackassery with the carts that I saw was dudes riding on the back. If we can get baskets in this will be the top course WA. Y'all saw the potential, but it's gonna take a lot of work.

I spoke with the Marshall out on the course, and once we engaged him in conversation, he brightened up considerably. He seemed excited that we might be finding a use for this otherwise unused property.

Fun event. Thanks to Jub, Getty, Erik,Ombudsman, Guy and everyone else who made it possible. The keg and burgers were a nice touch. Can't wait to see what happens over summer. The veiws from the course are spectacular. This course has some amazing potential.is it a matter of raising funds for baskets?

I would love to do another four person scramble event, that was tons of fun. Even just a regular two person bring your own doubles series looks appealing to me.

Craig (the Chiefs owner) Grandson is having some health issues. I did not fell it was the time to talk about DG. I would be willing to bet mid late Nov maybe early Dec for the first one.
Mike Do you have any of your winter dates yet? (chili, Sumner Meadows)
