The schedule is still yet to be finalized for the series, and Cool Shoez and Jet Wash will be independent of the State Series. We're hoping to be able to have SeaTac in the series, but nothing definitive as of yet. In any case, I'd encourage you to make the trip for at least one of the events, it's definitely one of the best courses in the state.

Seatac has to be in the series!
Why? There will be two quality events at SeaTac this season. + the payout will be better because their will be no extra drain of cash for series fees, less to the pDGA in fees. When less fees go out that means more cash to payout.

^^^^^^im just pro wash. series, thats why. I like the idea of a series, and think it should have all the premier tournaments.

Then your really not going to like no Aloha Sushi Classic at all this year. Or a Stellicoom series event either. But it will be "new"

They're not in it either??? If this is true that blows! I never said I didn't like the jet wash though. I love that tournament either way and just wish it was part of the series, or any series.

WA State Series rotation
March No event
April 17-18 Windy River (Originally in Mid March)
May 2nd weekend Kitsap Courses
June 5-6 LCO
July 24-25 Lamewood (Originally in late June)
August 14-15 Stelli
Sept 4-6 White River
Sept 25-26 Final Spokane
Now this is all good except the Stellicoom event is the weekend before Jet Wash.
As somone who was at the time involved with the Series planning "...because JWO was not going to be part of the series it would have at least a two week buffer before any other series event". Mike was elected Coord. by one vote (Guys) with this stipulation.
Now the series is recanting that position by stuffing 3 events in 6 weeks. Stelli could easly be played in March, late June. Oh, thats right! Mike is running FSO so he wants golfers jones-ing for play. Thats why the extended time frame. Clever Mike, Clever!
I personally think this is crap!!!
Guy has so much sweat equity at SeaTac and the series could give a shit about him or his efforts. i bet the next revelation will be the Pooled Combo of Tac and Lamewood. Then they can get Guy to prep the course for them too.

Seatac is my favorite course still to this date! It challenges every aspect of my game. I nearly won the advance division last year, but lost it due to a poor performance in the final 9, along with the 2 meter rule in effect, and Chris Gilberts just kicking my ass and draining a 50 foot jump putt to prevent a playoff on the last hole in the final 9 (hole 7). :) I wish you luck again this year buddy.
As for me, I will be playing open this year, and you better believe, I've been putting my practice in! I can't wait for this event. Become a better player, play Seatac. JetWash!!

Now that Dual Nature has been played (A big thanks to Keith and Chainbangerz, and the Dual Nature crew for their work on getting the fairways mowed and the greens manicured) it's time to get signed up for the 6th Annual Jet Wash Open on August 21-22 (PDGA C tier). I will be getting custom stamped Organic Putters and festive tye-dye shirts for the first 50 total players in the AM divisionS. Herm, myself, Erick Illg, and crew, will be putting in some long hours before the JWO to get it in immaculate shape--even the roughs. So come on out for three rounds and test your game against the mighty Tac. Preregistration and flyer are available on this site.

Unless you count the gnarly scars left by Herm's crippled mower. At least the city got to the fairways first, so the new trenches are all quarantined to the schule areas.
Can we hold a fundraiser to get that mower fixed? I like 95% of its results, just not the occasional grassy gash it leaves in the ground.
On a less whiney note, word up for another Jet Wash Open! :trophy:

Herm, myself, and Erick Illg have been hard at work for the past two weeks getting the rough and schule area shaped up. The course is looking great. A big thanks to Chainbangerz (the fact that Keith actually got the city to mow is amazing), and the Dual Nature crew for getting the greens and fairways looking nice. There is still a lot of work to do out there. We got rid of a hornet's nest on 16 this week. Please let me know if there are any other bee hives we need to eradicate.
Make sure and help out at the work party on Saturday, August 14, if you can.

Nice to see the Whip taking another stab at the 'Tac. She will treat you better this time around, Dion.
I see the 10 pros signed up so far are split 5/5 WA/OR. It's nice to see tournaments that non-locals feel worthy of the commute and living expenses.

Just a reminder that the work party for the JWO is tomorrow at 10 AM. The course is looking good but there is still plenty to do. We need your helping hands. WATCH OUT for that giant hornet's nest about 3/4 of the way up, left side by the paved walking trail, on the 12th hole! It is in a crack in the side of a tree. I think we will need the city to spray this one as it looks gnarly.

The nest on 12 is actually honey bees and we need them so please do not take it upon yourselves and spray this nest. The city will have it collected and moved by the middle of the week

The work party yesterday was a big success. A BIG thanks to Chuck Evans, Tim Coye, Jubby, Brent Smith, Edge, John Munson, Keith (Chainbangerz) and to everyone else that showed up. We got a lot done; although, there is still more work to be done. I'll be out on the course during the week doing more "primping and preening" trying to get the course in its best condition ever. Still time to get signed up. The Advanced Masters Division is growing every day. Where is 5 time defending champion Jeff "Sandy" Elliot?

Hello all,
I am signing up for Jetwash tomorrow and making my way over from Spokane to play a warm-up on Friday. I am lookin forward to throwing some of my more stable/overstable discs at your elevation. =) I was hopin' I could get a local to play a round and show me the course.
This is my first year of disc golf and I will be playing Intermediate. This will only be my third tourney and my first time playing away from Spokane. I'm not a great player but I love the game, no rating yet but guessing about 900? If you are up to it I will be happy to provide some beverages...

August 19th, 2010, 07:44 PM
I predict not everyone who is playing is signed up yet.
Course looks ready, circles are down and mowed Ob's Marked. Most every knook and carnny has seen the heat of a weedeater's tail pipe in the last two weeks.
The bees nest is still on #12 It's pretty obvious wihere they are with the barricades and tape and such. A decision will be made on Sat about a proposed No penalty bee drop zone.
I wat to thank Tom about Final Nine Doubles tomorrow night. He can't close bangerz till 6 PM. If you wanted to play you should sign up before 5 PM at the store. The Random Draw Doubles would be on the Final Nine holes only. 7,11-18 630-845 should be long enough to get around. $7

I predict a fierce battle in Advanced Masters, with all competitors looking to grab the title that Sandy has owned forever.
I also predict a -4 from someone in the Open division. The course isn't necessarily easier, but it is as accommodating to wise golf as it ever has been.
I also predict that humanity's only hope to ward off extinction is to spread out into the solar system as soon as possible.

I predict that I will go out to Seatac this weekend to watch either Saturdays second round or some of Sundays round plus the final nine only to be highly dissapointed that I'm not able to play.
I predict Chris "Floppy turbo putting" Fabry will win Masters, Jamie "Reconstructed Sherpa Knee Master" Richards will win advanced, Bob "Don't call me Paul Blart" Brown will win advanced masters, Paul "Highest rated player by 34 points" Larson will win advanced grandmasters, Mike "The Italian Stallion" Darin will win intermediate because he already has a nickname, and in the open division I predict Eric "Bahai Guru" Mcgowan will surprise everyone by flying into town first thing tomorrow morning and dominate the tournament for 54 holes only to lose a six stroke lead in the final nine to his disc golf mentor Kyle "Tailgate" Crabtree.

He's playing Advanced Masters (not Grandmasters). After two rounds Saturday, he's not in the lead! He is in second.
FYI, We had a Sandy sighting on Saturday.

And to answer your next question: Tom Dooley is leading MM1! He put on a clinic. It was an honor to watch him and Paul perform as I chundered from t-1st with a 13-shots-worse 63 and fell to the 3rd card  :headbang:

Scores (http://www.pdga.com/tournament-results?TournID=9905&year=2010&include_ratings=1#Open) are up already, nice job with the course record, Kyle! But man, it's like Seatac was designed for Mike C.--back to back rounds tieing the old record, and back to back wins at the Tac! Nicely done. And hey, nice win too, Chuck!

763 rated round on Sunday?!?!?!?! What the heck happened, Bill?? :(

>2.5 standard deviations is my guess. Bill would have to shoot blindfolded with one ear tied behind his back for that score.
I think Guy deserves a shout-out for another great Jet Wash Open. The tournament ran very smoothly. I think the only hiccup was when we were waiting for the Advanced men to finish their epic battle between Mark Yarmek and Jamie Richards. I almost wish I could have seen it, but there was no way I was going to miss seeing the Kid defend his title.
I had an interesting time this weekend. I set out to scientifically prove that playing in your appropriate division (not the division you wish you belonged in) and remaining competitive is roughly 1.5 million times more fun than coughing up even more entrance fee cash just to watch other people duke it out from your bottom-card cheap seats. It worked. I had an absolute blast catching the leader and then defending said lead for an entire final round. It took very solid AmII golf to hold off the charge of Mike "The Italian Stallion" Darin from Eugene, and the competitive atmosphere was healthy and appropriate for our chosen division of play.
One last thing I just remembered- everyone I talk to this summer repeats the same line over and over. "Seatac is looking/playing great this summer!" While this is obviously a good thing, we need to realize why this fact is so. Usually the course is abandoned, to be maintained by Guy, Jub, and Herm (+work party help) alone. This summer, the city has mowed the course a couple of times, Chainbangerz enticed a few more work parties, and Joe Public has been playing the course more often than ever. The end result is this: a course that usually earns a frown from any but true golf enthusiasts is receiving thumbs-ups from golfers across the board- even newbs who get hammer-effed by the back nine. Even if calling it 'teamwork' is a stretch, at the very least I can call it a sharing of the burden so everyone's load is a little lighter. Either way, the course continues to climb towards the prime of its life.

That's a good point, and I might do the same if I get around to playing a sanctioned event again. On the flipside though, I do have some MA2 memories that I'd rather not relive.

Seatac is ruined now...it's gotten too easy!
In all seriousness though, very good point. I remember when DGCR first got up and running, Seatac got mediocre reviews, largely for the reason that it was nearly unplayable in the summer (when most people want to be playing disc golf). I'd like for those reviewers to come play it now!

Those MA2 memories of which you speak, they exist at all levels of play, just under a different name. For instance, WTF happened between Big Mike and Andrew Rich this weekend?

That epic Advance battle was Jamie coming back from the 2nd card on the 3rd round shooting a nearly 1000 rated to get within 1 of myself and Mark who tied for 1st, after being sperated only by 1 stroke for the entire 54 holes. There was only one stroke among all 5 in the Advance final nine going into the last 3 holes, which where 13, 14, 15. Intense AM golf. THANKS AGAIN TO GUY, JUB, ERIK ILLIG, CHUCK AND CHAINBANGERS.
Yes, Bill did that on purpose. Those that know him knew he was serious about putting up a laugher round. Always the entertainer Mr. Clark is. Why would you want to pay to attempt to drain a 30 ft left footed kick putt is beyond me, but I was glad to have him around for the weekend..It would've not been the same without him. OR his 30 over par.

Meh,
I had no intention of playing but last minute circumstances made it possible. My head was not in it and neither was my game. My score by day two was irrelevant and so instead of being disappointed and mad I had fun with it. I asked the guys I was playing with prior and we all had a good laugh during the round. My goal on Sunday was to have fun and root on my friends, mission accomplished.

Your 30 over is still 1 better then my 31 over last year. Started on 15 and pared! Then it just went down hill from there. (remember JWO has a minimum rating of 750 to play)
Bill Kick putt, eh?
(Chuck Kennedy how does that work if you choose to "kick your disc as a shot"?)
Big Mike/Andrew
Bottom line is Mike decided (for himself) he had had enough golfing fun for one weekend.

Some people might :nono: that kind of play, for intentionally not letting your rating slip, but I for one support it. I'd much rather play with someone who is able to shrug it off and have a good time with a bad round, than with someone who gets pissed and makes the round miserable for everyone.
Bill, you'll have to show me your kick-putt technique. I've been practicing mine, but it still needs a lot of work.

I'm with you guys on that one, I think that's pretty awesome actually, Bill, I respect you for that big time. My main focus for tournament play is 1: Have Fun, 2: Meet new friends. If I get some plastic it's a bonus and I'm always rooting on my fellow competitors.

Yep,
It was done in fun and was WAY more productive than getting upset. I don't care about my rating and I had made the decision to blow it up the night before. It was either that or a DNF and that to me is not acceptable. I got to watch two of the guys I've helped train rise to the top and that was worth the price of admission.
Jub: I've supported all your tourney's in the past and if this excludes me in the future so be it. It was done with fun intentions and the guys on my card were not bothered by it. Sometimes you just gotta laugh it off my friend
Tim: I'd love to teach you my signature kick putt but we should probably check the rules prior:)

What are the rules for double amputees? Teeth?
Tim
August 23rd, 2010, 01:03 PM
I believe it's fully legal within the rules:
Throw: The propulsion of a disc that causes it to change its position from the teeing area or the lie.
No mention of what kind of propulsion you choose, be it hand, foot, lips, elbow, or earlobe.

How about on the edge (cause it helps it spin)?

Anyone know Forest from Portland? He rarely misses his foot puts. I asked him if he was a futbol player. Nope, hackysacker.
Earlobes? Ferengi will only play for latinum, and then, expect the game to be rigged.

I believe I remember reading a Chuck Kennedy post somewhere regarding disc propulsions such as the kick-putt. It certainly doesn't break any stance/throwing rules I can think of. I think whatever Bill did was fine as long as he had group consensus, didn't affect speed of play too much, and played within the rules. Which really isn't too hard, if you think about it.
Rolly I went back and added scores up and that must have been a close-fought 3rd round and final nine. It makes you wonder about all the various epic yet unsung tales that must occur on a regular basis at tournaments at all levels.

Honestly, It was surreal. I have seen Mark play since day one and I was rooting for him more than anyone.. It was just another round with friends, new and old playing my local course..I think we finally got tied up on the second to last hole. (Hole 10 was last for final 18) really hit me after my first drive on the final nine and I couldn't close it down by not hitting some easy upshots to save 4.. Lesson learned, finish strong but smart.
Jamie Richards is such an amazing competitor and he deserves all the credit. Always fun to watch him play, even if it's you he's crushing.
Dare I say it: Kick-Putt Open?

Well another Jet Wash is in the books. I've had a chance to catch up on some much needed sleep--too many days in a row of getting up at 4:30 AM. I would like to thank all of my sponsors: Jim Anderson, Rick Buttle, Chainbangerz, Ken Smith, 19th Hole Disc Golf, Aurora Lawnmower, Jub Jub, Erick Illg, Herm's Disc Golf, Paul Larson, the Duel Nature crew, Andy Faris Brian Anderson, Dylan and Kevin Holland, Steve Rolling, Jeremy John, Pure Disc Golf, Ed Munoz and all that helped work on the course--it is in immaculate shape!!! Kyle Crabtree set a new Seatac tournament record with his -4 in round 2! Another incredible weekend for Mike Cain at Seatac--three consecutive under par rounds. A great final 9 in the Advanced division with Mark Yarmek throwing a sweet drive on the second playoff hole (#9) to take the crown. Andrew Rich and Mike Leslie got into a dispute over a courtesy violation ruling. It seems odd that a courtesy violation does not have to be seconded. I checked the rule book and conferred with WA State Coordinator Edge--we could find nothing that said a courtesy warning had to be seconded!? A big thanks to Edge for getting the scores posted so promptly. I still have a few tye dyed tournament shirts available for purchase. Tim Coye, it is time to pick up your organic Wizards. Hope to see you all next year. Who knows, I may even play a sanctioned event again if ankle ever gets better.

Haha, indeed! Will you take a big box of garbage bags for a trade? :D I've been busy with the joys of moving, but I'm still good for them. I'll have to get your address again, but I think I'm living pretty close to you now--maybe even walking distance.
