US and European courses

It seems lately I have been finding myself on Youtube watching different DG tourney's trying to better my game by watching some of the higher ranked players. I noticed that the tournaments and courses seem to be different in the US and Europe. It seems as though European tourney's focus more on accuracy w/ more open shots and more mando's and Ob's on the courses whereas US courses have more of a technical/obstacle aspect.
I think a few people on this site have played overseas. Is there any truth to what I'm thinking?
