View Full Version : 2010 Milo Work Parties

JMittl
December 25th, 2009, 12:40 PM
I will be scheduling work parties about once or twice a month up until the BSF, which takes place at the end of May. We have much needed work to continue to improve and develop Milo McIver's Riverbend course "Gems" of disc golf!

Please show your support by volunteering!!

Also, I encourage all to help out at the installation of "Stub Stewart S.P." course that Mike Phillips is heading up. You will not be disappointed!!!

Course development only happens with the support of disc golfers. If you haven't participated in a work party, I encourage you to experience the grass roots effort!!

Typically we do organized work parties on the weekends. This is when most folks are available. If anything changes I will post it here.

I understand that from all the work partys we had in the past where we would only get a small turn out. I had one work party where only Bart snell and I showed up and from that I learned dont bring up clearing black berry bushes and you will get more to show up. Also free beer will bring them out just mention free booze and hillbilly deluxe will show up. After team disc golf I would love to show up and help out or maybe put a sunday down and Lance and I will come out to help.

Im not mad at bruce I was trying to find out if more baskets went in because we have team disc golf finals march 14th and we will need the whole course because we will have 16 teams out there.

The new anchors are not necessarily for the BSF, but rather alternate pin positions for the permanent 27 holes at Milo.

Awesome work party yesterday! 100 volunteer hours, 16 of us.
7 new anchors put in, "stump" hole walkout trail rebuilt, cleaned 3 holes of debris for a total of three truck loads, and finally removed 3 garbage bags full of chandeliers (bottles and cans from the trees).

Thank you for all your efforts!

it took every bit I earned and I probably owe some more ...but I started after the awards tonight....mike said all there was to do was check for tee signs on the west...so i drove down to W1 and parked and walked up to the tee pads for normal W9 and E6 to check for signs and reflect and give quick quiet thanks to this cathedral......no signs....but i did pick up a freshly tossed quart bottle along with a few asst. cans and .....wait for it ......a dirty diaper.....no more than 10 feet away from said pads in plain sight....not there this morning:angry::angry::angry:

You are a bold soul - I removed a diaper from rooster rock one time a couple years ago.

Even with double plastic bags is was a gut-turner...

So now that it's all clean are all the tourney baskets in for tomorrow?

If I wind up playing out there are there any odd jobs I could take care of?

(preferably not involving soiled under-trowsers...)

I have you all beat.
While cleaning out the Bum Pit on hole 13 at Sea Tac a couple of weeks ago, I saw some trash off to the edge of the pit. A closer look revealed that this trash was used toilet paper and a week's worth of human excrement

4 additional teepads were prepared on Sunday for concrete this Saturday.

Thanks to Stan Herzog, Aaron Kirschling, Patrick Buckley, Murray the Brit, Mike Phillips, and Jeff Mittl!

2 others will be prep'd this week.

A total of 6 1/2 pads will be poured on Saturday.

Please DO NOT play from these prepared teepads. You would be making more work for us. Play from the grass if you want to play the extra tourney holes with no basket.

We could use the help on Sat. to finish misc. jobs in preparation for the Fling and for the overall course playability.
Help in the morning and play in the afternoon.

Work party help has been very limited...so if you have a few hours...

Much appreciated

Tomorrow, Saturday the 22nd is the big day. Finish pads for the temp holes and final course prep for the BSF. Ranger Station at 10:00, get the work done, and lunch when we're done. Bruce Murphy and I are providing burgers and fixens:drool: for those who come out to help. I know that the weather may not be the greatest tomorrow but please, lets see a huge turn out and get this finished up.

Maybe Mittl will post more tonight on details of what all still needs to be done. If we get a good turnout the work should be done by 2 with lunch to follow. There will still be time for a quick round of golf afterwards.
