The Umpqua Disc Assoc. is proud to be hosting Ice Bowl XXI.
Jan. 24, 2010 at the legendary Stanton Park DGC just outside of Canyonville, Or.
Once again it will be a benefit for United Comm. Action Network, Douglas County's local food bank.
This years goal is $1000 cash and 300 lbs of food.
Donations are $20 with 100% going to UCAN.
You don't have to pay to play!
There will be players packs for the first 75 that register.
Packs will include but are not limited to: 2010 Ice Bowl Champion disc and a nested mini.
9:00 > Frozen Singles Skins
Noon > Random Fun Dubs

The dubs rounds will once again have an emphasis on fun!
You'll experience the only way to get a zero on the card hula hoops, a sinkhole, a 5 hole mini course, and back by popular demand the infamous basket ball hole.
There are two things that are not allowed at an Ice Bowl, they are .....
No Wimps No Whiners
Do any of you old fellers know what year this phrase started? :whistler:

Kent,
This is one of the many temp. courses that we use more during winter months.
It started with wrapped trees back in 1990.
Lots of non dger's use this park, so being permanent prolly won't ever happen.
Canyonville is located off of I-5, exit 99.
It makes a great Ice Bowl course.:biggrin2:
The only well known secret, if there is such a thing..:biggrin2: is....
how in the heck do you get a zero on the card? :whistler:

Here's some IB trivia.
Bring your answers to ICE BOWL XXI to claim some shaweeeeeet prizes.

1. When did the saying "No Wimps No Whiners" first appear on an official IB disc?
2. What was the artwork.
3. What year did the first official IB disc appear?
4. What was the artwork.

After I mentioned that 100% of fees go to UCAN, one of the kids asks:
"Then what will we be playing for"?
Well, I can only speak for myself.
I will be playing because I love disc golf!
Also, I think it's pretty awesome to be able to help others while doing it.
FWIW since 1996 food/fund drives is what 99% of IB's have been about.
To date the Umpqua Disc Association has donated:
1,992 pounds of food and $1,925.
IB's worldwide donated over $250,000 last year alone.
One of the coolest things I've noticed over the years is that some of the dger's donating have been homeless themselves.
So, come on out and donate to the needy and receive an official 2010 Ice Bowl disc and nested mini.
Did I mention we have Champion Destroyers, Bosses and Teebirds?
50 players will give us our 1,000.00 goal.
There will be lots of prizes given away also.
Just hope you don't get the biggest Wimp or Whiner prize.
Don't be a WIMP or a WHINER!

That is freakin' awesome, Yose, that you are willing to absorb the cost of providing these players' packs in order to donate as much as possible to UCAN . . . I will definitely be one of the 50 and have been encouraging others, as well!!

The players' pack's retail value is pretty much equal to that of the players' entries!! It's like we get to play disc golf for free at an organized event! :yay: And, did I mention that Yose's annual Ice Bowl is always a BLAST?!?! :bowing:

BE THERE!

Thank you to everyone who was there.
Lance.... your fire was a hottie bud, thanks.
To the ones who coulda/shoulda been there but were not ..........................
You are all GREAT BIG WIMPS and I'm sure you'll WHINE a bit when you hear of the gudt times we all had and all the loot that got handed out.
Tinnyrate here ya go:
36 Ice Bowlers raised $847. cash and 88 pounds of food.
If 10 of you wimps would've been there, we could have reached our 1K goal.
These numbers may increase as I'm working on a donor to match our cash.
The players received plenty of wet weather, slushy tees, warm fire and $2,020. in prizes!
Thanks again to all of our sponsors!
The ace race was a mushy blast with Kris Brannon taking the chains home.
I think Scott H. the Gator guy nailed 3 aces before he left.
Singles round stats:
best score overall > Dillon Hunt > 55
best score 12 hole disc > Dillon Hunt & Yose > -3
best score 6 hole mini > Bryson > Even
Doubles round stats:
best score overall > Cool Beans James H. & Chuck A. > 50
best score 12 hole disc > Cool Beans/ Chuck A. & Rodger/Brandon > -5
best score 6 hole mini > Jeb/Dustin & Kris/Axel > -1

I'm pretty sure all who were there had a great time, especially D.0.
If they didn't they prolly won't admit it for fear of being called a.......... WIMP or a WHINER.
I'm proud to say that nobody received the WIMP or WHINER award.
So I guess ALL the coulda/shoulda's win the big WW award.
Thanks again to all who were there and all the peeps who helped set up pick up the course.
