I asked at disc golf course review yesterday, no replies as of this time. Can you all help?

Is there public transport from Tigard area to Hornings Hideout or Milo McIver? At least something that will get me within walking distance?

I will be taking a trip to Oregon, staying in the Tigard (Greater Portland) area after Christmas. I will be there during the week, and I want to play Milo McIver or Hornings Hideout or both. However I will not have a vehicle, so I need to take a bus, shuttle, or train. Does anyone know if there is something available? I'm sure taxi would be too expensive.
Thanks.

Short answer: no. Your best bet will be to bum a ride from someone on this forum.

The only courses you can easily reach by Tri-Met bus would be Greenway, Lunchtime, Orchard, and Pier. And "easily" may be an overstatement for the latter two.

Both of those are remote enough that public transportation isn't really an option.

However, There are many friendly golfers on this forum and you might be able to hitch a ride with someone if you post the day and time that you're planning on going.

Greenway, Orchard, and Lunchtime should be relatively easy to get to via bus. Pier, Rockwood, and Vance too, but a longer ride/more transfers.

Google maps has an option to show how to get someplace via public transportation.

You can get to Timber by bus...play there. Ford the Clackamas River and play Milo. Or meet someone at Timber, ride over to Milo and get a ride home.

You can get to Timber by bus...
True; it's a 2.5-hour bus ride.

Before I got my license I played for about 2 years on public transit, Orchard and Greenway are doable but I wouldn't recommend it, Rockwood/Vance is probably the easiest because it's just a 5 minute walk from the MAX line, Pier is also quite easy just at the end of the 75 line. If you throw something up on the forums I bet someone could give you a ride.

there is a bus that drops you off in north plains but it is still a couple of miles up the hill to the course. getting a ride would be better.

"A couple miles up the hill"? :)

And that bus costs $15 round-trip.

Thanks all for the replies. I plan to play Pier, looks awesome. I looked up timber on the dgcourse review, also looks well done and worth the trip, I would like to try it.
I guess if Milo is not fully functional with all holes at this time, it is less tempting to try to get there, I'd like to experience it properly for my first time there.
As for Hornings, I am willing to spend $15 on a bus ride. Would it be easy to find from the bus stop myself, being not familiar with the area?
I may have to ask for a ride later when I'm in Portland, If my old buddies flake out on me and I can't figure out bus. I just hate to be dependent on anyone but myself for a ride in general. May all your discs fly true!

Don't bother trying a bus to Horning's. I'm guessing the bus will drop you off in North Plains, which is about 6-7 miles from HH. You really should be able to find a ride by posting here.

Especially because for people in Portland it's not hard to make a quick stop to pick you up in Tigard on the way to Hornings, I know I'll be making a trip out there in the days after Christmas.

Dude, there are 800 members on this forum, plan your trip a few days in advance on here and you bound to find a ride easily to the "hard to get to places by bus"... the walk from north plains to HH would kill you lol... Take the bus to Pier and vance, get a ride to HH and Timber or whatnot... Portland has a few cool people, all of them disc golfers...

plus... there's no bus to north plains... so you'd be walking from hillsboro or forest grove...

And that bus costs $15 round-trip.

If you are referring to Tillamook's bus service, yes, it costs 15 dollars round trip from either Tillamook to North Plains or Portland Union Station to North Plains. I would not recommend it because you would need to hitch a ride from North Plain bus stop to Horning's Hideout.
