Hello all,
Registration is now open for Festivus which will be held at Adair County Park on January 30, 2010. I hope mother nature is kinder than the ice dropped on this weekend's Ole' at Adair.
I'm not planning on opening an on-line registration. You can save the fees and spend a few cents with the post office.
You can access a registration flyer at the WDGC club website. Please note the desired division as I did not include a specific space on the tear off part of the form. http://www.kaser.com/wdgc/tournaments.html
To those unitiated this the WDGC's 9th annual winter event which started with the inital 10 hole layout that we started with at Adair. Evil temporary holes have will continue to be part of Festivus. The USDGC style island hole will be back. Not sure what new twists I will throw in this year.
The club will provide the traditional awesome hot lunch with cool beverages for all players. Courtesy of our friends at Calapooia Brewing for those 21+.
It will fill up fast even without on-line registrations, so send them in early if you want to be sure to get in.
Happy Festivus! :cheers::chug:
Greg

Sorry I have not been monitoring this forum. For some reason the feature to send me e-mails when someone posts a reply got turned off. just turned it back on. When I checked back before I saw no replies.
Festivus is full as of January 12th.
I have a couple of names for the wai list.
I need to contact defending champ James Moore who has the Festivus Pole trophy. Does nayone have a phone number or e-mail for James?
Best regards, Greg

That would be very appreciated by myself as well. Thank you for this great yearly event. My little gingerbread dude is one of my favorite trophies. Being hand made makes it special. See you all on the 30th.

Those trophies were cool. I have shifted to more function trophies. Unfortunately John Kinder from Bend can't make mugs/cups for a few months. This year I'm going with Calapooia glassware etched with the tourney logo. Thanks to Mark and Laura at Calapooia for their continued support of this fun event! Greg

I messed up and should have had Matt B. and Ryan Lane's wife Gretchen on the in list based on when I was contacted so I will fit them in. I guess I should have published my list when it was 75% full.
As for mighty Sam, he will be playing lefthanded due to recent rotator cuff surgery on his normal throwing hand.
I talked with Jason and I'm not really of the mind set to force anyone to play Pro so I said OK to playing Advanced.

Thanks Greg - just some friendly ribbing. It all makes sense now. There really ARE two John Bains. Sam is brave to play offhanded in ANY division. And Jason.....well....Jason - you're a BAGGER! :biggrin2:

WDGC,
Have you guys considered going to concrete tee pads at Adair? Its only been like 5 years or more since the course went in. I think the pads are nice but they are definitely showing their age!

Considered yes, but not permitted due to hypothetical master plan for the park. We have reconstructed 3 with new frames and treated plywood deck. Check out holes 5, 12, and 13. We will replace more in the next year.
Now back to thread topic!
This is the 9th year for Festivus kicked off by the first tournament in January 2002 when we had just installed the first 10 permanent baskets, I think we had the Fly 18 pads in year 3 when the course got expanded to through the woods to 18 holes.
Hey we are down to a 50% chance of rain Saturday and 40% tomorrow. That's an improvement over a couple of days ago KC the weatherman's forecast appears accurate once again.
:trophy: are sweet, etched Calapooia mugs and glasses with Umbrella logo, division and place. Thanks Mark & Laura for the glassware donation.

My home computer was not being very nice to me and I was surprised when I got to work this morning that no thanks had been giving out. Thanks Greg for another great event. Especially what you get for your entry fee. Great job Jesse G. even after my gift of playing the changed hole wrong. Thanks again Greg. Can I sign up for next year yet ? My wife and kid say to thank you as well.

Yeah... Colin is a great golfer and I'm glad he got the win...
The course was way fun... They had a new feature that I would recommend to other non-sanctioned events... on three holes they had multiple basket placements that they allowed us to play to... you could choose... a neat wrinkle.
