View Full Version : Disc Golf Calendar?

Hey everybody,
Two years ago I made a really nice disc golf wall calendar to raise money for new baskets at my favorite course in Virginia. I'm hoping to purchase a scorepoint for the Seattle Disc Golf Club so we don't have to lug around the big heavy wooden ones anymore: http://www.pdgastore.com/Qstore/Qstore.cgi?CMD=011&PROD=000283
I wanted to see if anyone would be interested in a calendar of nice disc golf shots from Washington, Oregon, Cali, possibly Idaho?
Check out some pictures from the previous Virginia/Maryland/West Virginia Calendar - They often had a little bit of text describing the hole/tournaments at the course/logo from the local club.

Likely the calendars would cost between $12-15 each depending on the number I order. It would be easy to coordinate with the Western Washington golfers, but if others in Oregon or Eastern Washington were interested, I'd need to have some contacts to help me distribute.
What do you all think?

Be glad to contribute some $$ and the calendar would be a nice extra. Good idea...

Yes, I'd definitely be in for at least one.
Oh yeah, I support putting the proceeds to a scorecard carrier too, those scorepoint things kind of aggravate me though. Nice and portable, but it seems every time those are used, there's always at least a few people who get confused about what groups are on which hole and such. Are there other options out there? I know Chuck and I once were brainstorming ways to make one out of corrugated signboard or something, but never did anything more than thinking. Ehh, that's probably a topic for a different thread.....

I would support a "women of disc golf" calendar for sure. It would look much nicer hanging on my wall than just some landscape photos. What'll you say?
If we can't find 12 photos of NW women disc golfers, I guess we could photoshop Tiger's 12 girlfriends on these pictures.

I would totally love to see some calenders from courses I've played. I think the best way is to get your calenders into the hands of local disc golf store owners. That way it's promoted from your hard work and their ability to connect with players that never hit tournaments.
You should totally try this man, Jack Wardian. He's the owner of a bad ass little disc golf store in Post Falls, Idaho named Rapid Fire Plastics.
His email address is rapidfire3@roadrunner.com
Lay the idea out on him and I bet he'll gladly help in any way that he can. He's a great guy.

OK, cool - sounds like there is some interest out there. I've got some nice shots of courses in our area but I'm hoping to get a few more really excellent ones. If you have a really excellent picture that you would let me use for this, I'd much appreciate it.
Can't promise I'll use them all, I'm just going to pick out what I think are the best dozen from unique courses and try for a mix of courses all over the area.
Email any sweet pics to cefire@sbcglobal.net
Adam, if you are reading this, I'm betting you have a stockpile of badass disc golf photos... :)

OK, took longer than expected to collect enough photos that I liked. I ordered 25 calendars a few days ago which run from MARCH 2010-FEB 2011 so even though its a little bit after the first of the year, they are still well before the expiration date.
I'm asking for $13/per for the calendars. If the Oregon folks or anyone else not near Seattle wants one, I can ship but it will cost extra - I can also put in a larger order and send directly over there if someone over there wants to figure out how to get a price break.
I'll also be bringing them to team golf (they should arrive by then!)
The calendar will feature pictures from: SeaTac, Ft. Steilicoom, Whistler's Bend, Lakewood, NSRA, Terrace Creek, Aquatic Park (CA), Rooster Rock, Corbin Park (ID), North Park, Stafford Lake (CA), Lake Fenwick, and a brand spanking new mystery course established in 2009.
Here are a couple of sample pictures to whet your whistle:

The calendar has holidays and may have the lunar cycle but I think that is it, but I'll double check.

OK, guys, calendars arrived yesterday in the mail! They look even better than I was hoping:rockon:, I upgraded to the high quality paper and it was definitely worth it. However, there are two slight errors on the calendars when I was inserting text to let everyone know what courses each picture is from. On the two months in question (December-Lakewood & February-NSRA) there is just a little white box surrounding the text but even then, its off to the corner and out of the way. Even these pictures still look great but I just want to make sure everyone is aware :D
I'm going to be working out shipping and payment deals with everyone who pm'd me. Looks like its going to be $13 and then whatever exact amount shipping comes off to.
I've still got plenty left so please let me know if you are interested!

Thank you Andrew ~ our calendar arrived today ~ very nice ~ Great shot of #10 at Terrace.
One question, What course is that on the cover?
cefire
February 1st, 2010, 11:27 PM
The course on the cover is Stafford Lake - one of the two California shots. Too pretty not to include I thought.
BTW - Only 9 calendars left and I don't think I'm going to reorder so get them while you can...

Does that go for anyone? I saw the one that Tom had, and it rocked. Why did you start in March? Just being different or was there a reason for the madness?

February 5th, 2010, 07:23 PM
That was splained already. That's the official 'disc golf year.' It's internationally recognized now. It won't be too long before the rest of the world makes the shift, trying to keep up.

Yup, first come, first served! PM me your info and I'll send one out.
Started in March to make sure everyone got 12 months out of their calendar - if I do it again next year, hopefully my stuff will be together in time to make January work
