Say what you will about the chill, the ground is skippy like August!

Or skippier. They just don't go as far before they have to start skipping.

Well, with my new Pro Katanas I'm throwing further than ever - got my longest drives ever on two holes at Pier a couple days ago...minimal skipping too.
Going to go out to Rooster for an afternoon round now...

Came within' 6" of making an ice skip ace today, hitting just below the rim in the center of the basket.
It sure is cold out, but that does make for some interesting seasonal opportunities.

Sweet - where?
I put on a miserable performance at Pier Park but met up with a couple cool guys so it wasn't a total loss...

Sweet - where?
Juel Park, new #9, 231'.
A low spot in the field collects water. The ice is maybe 20 feet long and 10 feet wide, nice and flat, shaped like an '0', oriented about the 10 oclock position from the pin maybe 15 feet away.
I throw a low LHBH hyzer at it.
I'm gonna get it before the freeze is over, that, or frostbite. :D

I drilled #21 at McIver in the cage today also, but in the air. Would have made for my longest ace by far. I'm digging this cold weather golf though!

Now if only you could see my bright blue boss through the ice somewhere in there, that would be awesome, Bob.

What part of the pond? Could do some ice fishing. The only place where the ice is thin is in the cattails on the end toward the tee. That's where the spring feeds in.

the other end towards the cat tails, closer to the basket position.

Did you get that Frisbee out of the Ice? Driving the Golf Carts in the snow at Skyline was great! Wise choice to walk the course...

That floater is in permanent parking until the thaw.
The ice was about three inches thick as of yesterday afternoon, It was 16 degrees last night. I don't have any skates.

I was out at Juel the other day in about 28 degree weather. I was lamenting the fact that I have not yet aced on the new layout. As we walked up to #2, I commented that #2, at 235', is perfectly in my wheelhouse and I am certain that I will get it sooner or later with a putter. I then let my Aviar fly with a big sweeping left to right turnover. It split the trees perfectly only to crash the crown of the basket where the chains hang and fall to the ground for an easy drop in birdie.
Still no aces at the new Juel, but soon...

The cold is soon to be the wet with increasing temps near 50 next week. Glad I haven't put away the basketball shorts yet.

I'll believe it when I see it. The meteorologists here never forecast wintry weather (and especially not the end of wintry weather) correctly. Remember last weekend when they said "Monday's looking chilly, but we should see 40s by mid-week"?

As a transplant from colder climes I can't agree more - I remember a couple years back when Tacoma got PUMMELLED with snow through an obvious lake effect from the sound - the meteorologists were flummoxed and I was happily snowed in with my roommate who happened to have a distillery and a long line of toddy's...
Ahhhhh.

My current frustration with the weather people is that they're saying there might be a "little bit of freezing rain"; but when it's been this cold for this long, the ground isn't going to thaw out overnight.

Oh it's going to be either heaven or hell, depending on which weather decides to show up, they'll call it then, relax. But I do get a kick out of .5 inches of snow shutting down 3 to 5 counties...
Trozzle!!!

Yeah this isnt Spokane J. you and I have both been there. that place doesnt shut down ever. around Portland though 1/2 of snow is like Armageddon

Yeah, Spokane disc golfers never stop. Not even for below freezing weather. I guess we are just a different breed (and probably drunk).
Portland shuts down when a thought of snow is in the air. I'd hate to see what would've happened if you guys down there got as much snow as Spokane got last year.
Hell, couldn't even play without bringing out the ice melt, snow shovel and the Jager.

But I do get a kick out of .5 inches of snow shutting down 3 to 5 counties... It's not .5 incehs of snow - it's a WINTERY BLAST, or whatever the hell the local news stations decide to call it.

We can all be grateful the city shuts down... as a native I feel I have a right to say that freaking Oregonians are jackasses when it comes to driving in the snow... so it's really just best that most of us stay inside our homes and out of our cars (except for me, of course, I'm a fantastic driver in all conditions :whistler: )

On the other end of the 'extreme disc golf conditions' spectrum, my brother (recreational level player) did a short disc golf video in Sadam's tank graveyard while he was in Iraq (Cavalry)... the temperatures were in the 120's, and he was by himself in this deserted tank/ armored vehicle yard... he kept saying 'this... is extreme disc golf', but I did'nt have the heart to tell him that the disc golf content in the video was 'extremely bad' for the most part. Wasn't sure if it was even worth you-tubing, but I'm probably being too critical.
Snow shoe object golf sounds fun! I've heard that the best way to prevent losing a disc under the snow is to attach a ribbon. Has anyone had any experience with this... what are some of the tricks of the trade?

Durn, I got too much into playing around on the pond today. It's all well and good until an old man has his feet go out from under him and lands flat on his back!
I was just getting ready to give it up and was taking my first steps toward the shore when it happened. The first thing to hit was my right elbow, and I was totally focused on the pain there for about one millisecond when the back of my head hit the hard ice. I didn't get up for a bit. I just lay there making pain noises. I never saw stars or anything, so I figure there was no concussion.
When I finally got myself a little bit together and looked around, there right next to me was my ball cap and folded neatly inside it were my glasses. My head must have hit hard enough to bounce them up in the air and into the cap (I'm calling that an ace). I had a headache for only about five minutes, but my elbow still can't even touch a soft surface without letting me know about it.

Behemoth swam right under me. You think she looks big when you see her from the shore? My gawd, what a monster!
Local newbie, Josh, came by yesterday after my fall and we played a round. Had great fun off the 22nd tee, bouncing every driver we had off the pond. We walked out and got the ones that didn't bounce out. I was pretty careful with my footing.

It was Will Odom i believe at Timber, but not on a tee pad.
Jeff Cox messed up his left shoulder
Also throwing from the behind is not always safe if your follow thru takes you onto the pad after you let go....:jumpspin::bricks: i dropped myself twice onto the pads like that and some how the belly got in the way  and saved me from any serious harm :whistler::p
