My favorite of the current plastic options would be Discraft's ESP FLX. What's yours?

I like champ/champ glow plastic for my fairway drivers, star for my distance drivers, and KC for my puttersand mids. I can't stand soft gummy plastic, the harder the better.

I throw a lot of FLX, but that Lat64 Opto plastic is amazing.

I like star/esp, but I don't like the idea of taking 2 cheaper plastics, blending them together, and charging more for it.

I think my still all around favorite is the old pearly champ plastic.

I don't own any of that stuff but I have thrown them quite a bit and know people that throw it and that stuff seems indestructible! The look and feel of that stuff is nice too. If I didn't have 30+ new discs waiting to be thrown at home I would buy a couple of those discs.

ESP For drivers.
FLX for midranges.
Elite X or FLX for putters.

Love the Innova Pro. Nice and grippy, and holds up reasonably well for me. I've heard many people say it beats down too fast, but that hasn't been the case for me. I guess I don't have enough arm to overpower anything. Every tree hit makes the disc that much tastier.

For the best feeling grip and most predictable release, for me it's FLX. I find that occasionally wiping the the grip surface with a quick once-over with acetone keeps them like new. It must remove finger oil build-up or something.

I would vote PRO if it didn't get beat so fast...

But it's champ for me

I guess it is R-Pro for long distance fairly open space drives. Tighter drives I like star. I don't really use Champ for anything except one hard turnover disc. I do love the FLX for midrange, but now that I have a couple R-Pro discs for that I use them all the time. I have a Roc and a Cro in R-Pro and I use those all the time now that it is cold out.

I like harder plastics in the summer though. I moved pretty heavily into R-Pro for the winter and I did so intentionally because of the grip. obviously the extra footage makes a difference in the winter as well, since I never seem to warm fully up as far as distance goes.

I love stiffer Gateway S and the S-type Glow plastic from Gateway. Super durable, super grippy. Best baseline plastic by far.

Right now, Opto is the best premium plastic on the market (CE would probably take the cake if it was still being made). Near indestructible, and grippy in the cold/wet.

Lumping Pro D/DX and Champ/Z together is not the best idea, IMO.

DX is significantly better than Pro D in almost all aspects, and Z is slightly better than Champ in terms of grip and durability.

Pro is nice because it is super grippy and wears in just so....

Love me some star plastic... but really only in pink or white... and r-pro for my putter... helps keep the yips at bay.

I prefer different plastic types depending on what kind of shot I am using. I do prefer my long bombing drivers to be STAR plastic. That said I usually prefer DX for turnovers, Champion for hyzers/overhand throws, and STAR for straight shots. I don't have much for Pro plastic but am looking at either adding a Pro Destroyer or Pro Boss and see how they fly for me. I only throw Innova - what can I say, I'm an Innova whore, but I do agree with Lyle when he says there is a difference between Dx/Pro D and Champ/Elite Z, etc. Perhaps that is one reason I don't throw Discraft. I will say though, that the Champion-like Latitude 64 plastic sure seems nice.

Yeah, I absolutely hate pro d. I love the Ringer. Hate the fact discraft only made it in pro-d. Dx seems to last longer (which isn't long), Never liked Champion. Elite Z seems more grippy and durable. Opto however is the best champion like plastic. So grippy yet so durable. Amazing stuff.

It depends on the weather conditions as well as what disc it is. To me they all have their own purposes.
