Tuesday the 15th of December starting at 6pm we will be having night golf random doubles at Terrace Creek and this will be a monthly event from now on. It will be the first Tuesday of the month starting in January and the buy in is $5, that's $3 to play, $1 to the ace pot (the ace pot for this and Saturday doubles will be the same) and $1 for a CTP, which will be either straight cash or a brand new disc or two. If you want to donate a non inked, new disc (no DX or Pro D) for the CTP your buy in for the event is free. We will play the front nine twice as I don't want to make people play the back nine in the dark. The CTP will be a special hole and it will be done AFTER every group is done and it will be from the sidewalk next to hole one to the basket for hole four and there may be more than one winner. Everyone will throw one after the other and the closest to the pin wins. You will need to bring a flashlight and LED lights or glow discs, and if you don't have any I can provide some at no charge, also whenever you throw a disc it has to be either a glow disc or have an LED on it or it's not legal, that means no putting with a putter that's not lighted, sorry. I will also be providing hand warmers for free as it will be cold outside so dress warm. I hope you all can make it because the CTP prizes will be many and it is going to be a ton of fun. Meet at the Gazebo near the playground, sign up is at 5:30pm and players meeting is at six.

UPDATE!

We are now a week away from Night Golf Random Doubles and I am looking forward to it. I am donating four (4) BRAND NEW discs towards the CTP. I haven't decided yet if I want to pay a lot of spots one disc a piece or multiple discs for for two or three players, I will decide the night of depending on the turnout and how many others are donating for the CTP. Also, tee off will most likely be around 6:15 instead of 6:00 so if you think you are going to be a little past six o clock it's ok.

Hello Thomas ~
How many discs to you have "lit-up" for an event like this?
I picked up a "Disc Golf Beacon" at Play-it-Again Sports this afternoon to test out in the back yard tonight. I'm thinking that I'll pick up a 3 pack of the Beacons and have some extra tape ready. The Beacons put out quite a bit of light ~ enough that I don't feel I'll have to use just clear discs.
Anyway....looking forward to my first round of Night Golf

I usually use three discs (one putter, one driver, one mid range or one putter and two drivers) during night golf. Some people light only one disc and move the light to whatever disc they need and carry their entire bag with them and others use ONLY one disc, it's personal preference I guess. I use either glow discs or these little LED's used for fishing that are small, lightweight and bright. Also I highly recommend staying away from blue LED's as they hurt your eyes at night and kill your night vision.

If anyone has any glow sticks I would appreciate it if you could put them on the baskets for holes one through nine before we play as this helps course and night golf noobs.

I have good news and bad. Good news is it's supposed to warm up in the next couple of days for this event but the bad news is it might rain as well. The event will go on rain, shine, snow or whatever, you might want to bring an umbrella with you though. I have half a dozen confirmed so far and probably at least that much more will show up on their own. There will be at least half a dozen CTP's going out not to mention the pay out for at least the top two in the doubles so more than half that show up will get something and for only $5. Did I mention the $300 acepot is in effect as well? :) here's to promoting hard!

I had a question today about whether or not doubles after dark was legal and just to let you all know, YES it is legal to play golf after dark at Terrace Creek, I have even had Police officers tell me they don't mind it because it keeps the bad element (besides disc golfers, hehe) out of the park at night so rest assured it is legal.

The course is a bit soggy with the rain as of late but I will still be out there and taking money for the event at 5:30pm, remember to meet by the gazebo so we don't get rained on!

North Park plays very well in the rain, and it's a great little course for glow dubs... ;). Not too eager to play Terrace in these conditions, but I do feel like playing some glow golf though.

Night Golf was tons of fun and I'm not just saying that because I took home the $10 CTP prize. Had a turnout of 10 people in the cold and the rain and this event will continue, first Tuesday of the month starting in January. I lost the score cards but if I find them I will post the results for each team, all I have now is the scores not who done them.

Cool Thomas, you guys are hardcore! Did you end up playing the whole front 9 or just 5-9?

We played the entire front nine around twice although next time I think a 5-9 three times around would be better when it's been raining since half the people who showed up fell on hole number three including myself.

This is the last time I let people use my LED's as I only got a couple back, my mistake I guess, next month it's bring your own lights. We didn't use any of the hand warmers so those will go with me on Saturday doubles for whoever for free. :)

Next Time there will be no mandos or O.B. That was my mistake I should have known to put that rule into effect. It was a ton of fun though.

Sorry I missed but Tuesdays are a little tough when you work early the next morning. Too bad your not doing one over the next two weeks. Glad you won CTP though since you put this thing together. Thinking about perhaps that roadtrip on Sunday Thomas just FYI. Did Toby shoot under?

No worries, we got a late start and Toby didn't get to finish the round. Him and my dad were teamed up and didn't finish but weren't playing well. Yeah from basket one to basket four was fun, I parked it right under the basket, five inches from the pole! :yay: Yeah I would love to go hit those courses with you John, let me know if you can get away.

I totally understand Don, no worries. We had ten out and ZERO were Terrace Creek regulars which was shocking since most of them said they were going, oh well I had fun without em, although Aaron came out and walked and Talked, he had to work so he couldn't be there on time but it was nice of him to come out anyway. We will be doing this again, January 5th 2010 @ 6:00pm so if you can make it we'll see you there. :)

There was actually three CTP's, first was $10 and the other two were a pick of discs I donated. Second CTP went to someone I don't know but I think his name is Mark and third CTP went to Wayne Whitney. Doug Whitney and Don won the event with a 4 down.

The next night golf random doubles happens less than two weeks away!

Tuesday the 5th of January, 2010 @ 6:00pm

BRING YOUR OWN LIGHTS! Or buy them from me at $3 a piece, last time I only got two lights back out of the 8-10 I gave out. This time I have really good LED's.

By the way the lights will be $4 a piece not $3, I'm not making any money off of these this is how much they are at Chainbanger'z. 6 SHARP, no stragglers this time, spread the word!

There were four of us out there tonight, and I had one of my most fun rounds in a while besides team golf despite being terrible. Played holes 5-9 four times around. Judging by the attendance no one cares but I'll post it anyway.

Doug/Thomas -3 (won in a team CTP)
Wayne/Mark -3

Just a reminder folks, the 3rd Night Golf Random Doubles @ Terrace Creek Park will happen rain or shine, February 2nd at 6pm SHARP! Please be early or on time, sign ups will start at 5:45. This is regular old random doubles, no funny format like Saturday Doubles. $4 to play; $1 to the ace pot, VERY casual, everyone is welcome, it's a lot of fun.

Also you can buy LED's from me at $4 a piece or a pack of three for $10. We will play the front nine twice unless there is a lot of rain and holes two and three become too slippery in which case five through nine three times around will be what we play instead. Hope to see you all out there!! :)

So is there any glodisk in Terrace Creek? I been thinkin bout drivin down there to check it out. Seems like all the light pollution would screw up your night vision. Have you found any interesting ways to light the baskets? I use several different methods depending on the circumstance. Lookin forward to playin more night tourneys! Tho I think its kinda funny you mention handwarmers, my first night tourney was in the snow and about 19 degrees Fahrenheit, we didnt use handwarmers, but I admit it took me a few baskets to get warmed up!!

There is a huge night golf crowd at Terrace Creek, any time it's not raining or freezing cold you can go to the course after dark and see at least one group playing. There is light pollution on holes 1, and 5-8 so glow discs don't show up extremely well unless you use a UV flashlight. Some people even play night golf without any lights or glow discs there on the open holes. We don't usually light the baskets up mainly because most of the holes on the front nine have enough light and those of us that play know the course so well it really doesn't matter if we can see the basket or not.

I only have three three-packs left of L.E.D's now, and they are first come, first buy tonight, so keep that in mind. It's a beautiful day so it won't be real muddy for the event tonight. front nine around twice to make eighteen, only $5, random doubles, see you out there!

OK, I found some more lights, I have 18 lights at the moment, $4 a piece or $10 for three, cheaper than anywhere else you're going to find them guaranteed. The course is dry and ready to go.

Scores:

Ken/Wes: -3
Thomas/Kelly: +2

Big thanks to everyone who showed up, Andrew was on fire hitting multiple putts from 50+ feet in the dark!

hitting multiple putts from downtown with a roadrunner that is!

Played cali and only brought out two discs (Roadrunner & Birdie) so I pretty much had to take whatever drive I got because the birdie isn't going very far and then my second putt was always with the roadrunner!

I guess that means The Wayne Show and Doug can't play since they're so hard core they don't use lights at night... SWEET that means the rest of those that show up might be able to cash!!!
