We stopped to play a round at White River in Auburn Washington on our way to see the folks for Thanksgiving. Our car was broken into while playing. They got a purse, a couple ipods, a wallet, and some clothes. I figure they got spooked because they didn't grad the laptop in the back of the car. Be careful out there...

Lame. Sorry to hear that.
I have camped there a few times during the summer with all kinds of crap lying around the campsite while we were out golfing and have never had anything disappear. I will be a little more cautious next time.

Sorry to hear about your car being broken into. My dg backpack was stolen out of my car a few weeks ago in downtown Seattle... I went out to my car in the morning(after a night shift) and my car had been rifled through and the only thing missing was my dg bag... needless to say, I drove around for thirty minutes through alleys and such, but didn't find it... so I went back to work. A bit later, when I walked back up the street to Starbucks, I asked this 'street-person' if he had seen any frisbees, as I had lost a bag of them the night before. "Yeah, some dude was trying to sell some last night... different colors and shit right.... I know where to find him... how much you gonna give me if I help you get your stuff back?"
I told him that I'd give him $20 if I got them back... we started walking down this steep hill on the block below my work when I spotted my backpack laying amongst other belongings of this homeless guy who was sleeping in this cubby hole hidden behind a wall and some flower planters... not even 50 yards from my car!
I grabbed my backpack and my nine Wizards that were spread out amongst a bunch of rubbish... gave dude his $20 for helping me for 2 minutes, and went back to work.... lucky.
I am sick of hearing about disc golfers' cars getting broken into at disc golf courses... my friend and I were talking about the rash of break-ins when we were out at Lakewood DGC the other day... what can we do to combat this problem?
I think we need to be more vigilant in keeping an eye out for other disc golfers... especially if you seem someone suspicious lurking around the parking lot for no reason. Not sure how much posting signs to deter thieves would work. Maybe I could take the old surveillance cameras from my work and Jerry-rig them high up on poles in the parking lot at Lakewood, then post a sign that says "These premises monitored by video surveillance."

That truly sucks. I used to keep my disc's in the car until recently as I started thinking about sentimental value. Under a couple hundred dollars worth of gear but the gifts of disc's, trading, stories and good times on the course is priceless. I'm sure there are enough of us on this board/site that can donate an extra disc to help you get back in the game. Say the word and miracles can happen.

Luckily our bags weren't in the car. We were playing at the time of the break-in. We're just out the $200 to fix the window and the possessions they stole.

For sure. In fact Toby next time I see you I can bring you some discs, make a list of what you want, I'll do my best, free of charge of course. Sorry to hear this happened to you buddy.

The people breaking in windows don't wear shirts saying "I'm a Teaker," Last year we saw broken glass beside a car at Dabney that had just been broken into but the people doing this didn't stand out. They blended in. Someone who was there for a group picnic said, "we did see a guy with a baseball bat." Cameras would be the best idea. It may not stop them but a least it can be seen who is breaking the windows.

Thanks for the gesture Tom, but I did retrieve all of my discs... before I got them back I was counting my blessings that I had taken my main 'bag' out and put all of my practice putters in for putting practice at work...
It's true that they can often blend in... but not always-- there is no baseball field at Dabney is there? It won't stop the problem, but a little bit of vigilance could at least make it more difficult for the thieves.

I'm assuming police reports are being filed when these break-ins occur, but are the park rangers being made aware of this at courses where there are parks department workers... like Dabney/ White River etc.?
