Does anyone have any recommendations for disc golf near downtown. I'm heading up there next weekend and saw there were some courses nearby. I don't think I can get away with traveling very far but saw that there were three close to downtown. Are any of these not worth going to or is there anything else a short drive away that is a must play?

I've only been up there once, and while I was there, I played the course at Queen Elizabeth Park. (http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=2061&mode=ci) It wasn't much to speak of, but I had fun playing with the local course personality. The course, I guess, could be in the same category as Juel, though no big holes. What was cool about it was that the club knew how small the course was going to be ahead of time, so installed octagonal tees to allow for more challenging safari layouts. What was heart breaking about it was that it's located in a fantastically huge and beautiful park, but only is allowed a tiny sliver in the corner. I'd heard that it was taken out, but looks like its up and functioning again.

Don't know if you've ever played with Brent Burbee? He's a cool dude, and I can't quite remember, but I want to say that he said Mundy was the course he plays the most, with tougher alt tees.

is probably too far away for you and considering today's weather it may be flooded but it seems to be the best course based on the reviews between the Canadian border and Vancouver. I've never played it but I hope to soon.

Yeah I played with Brent and Kris Klimko at the Lakewood open and they put up with my canadian jokes all round long. If that course is in the same category as Juel I think I will have to play it just to be loyal to my home course

Yeah I played with some guys from Northern Washington this weekend and they said that the Langley course was the best up there when it's not flooded. Unfortunately it looks like it will be pretty wet.

sorry i totally missed this topic, as im from pretty close to there. If you don't want to go too far from downtown then Queen E is probably your only choice. As someone else was saying it's a fairly small course as it's kept on one small side of the park. There's a yearly tourney there in about april or so called the Abbey's Open, where they pay to get a permit for the other huge side of the park. It stretches the course to 23 holes and some of them are awesome. When I go there I'll mix it up a bit by playing an alternate layout. Theres about 40 of them. One easy one that works well there is skipping a hole so 1tee to 2basket 3tee to 4 basket, so on and so on. Works out well with QueenE. Mundy park has a fun little course too, but nothing super challenging. And then Langley is the best course but if you go there this time of year there's a ton of water. Also it's 45 minutes from downtown.
