Does everyone remember six of the baskets at Pier Park being pulled out last year during the winter? Well, it looks like that could be happening again. I spoke with the Parks and Rec guy (can't remember his name) about it this afternoon. Apparently there is going to be a work party out there this Sunday. I can't remember if he said that would be the day it could happen or not. Point is, he's against it, I'm against it, and a lot of disc golfers are against it. He seems to think that if there is a public pushback, we might get the decision changed and we can keep our precious 18 holes all year.

I'm no expert on land management, but it seems to me that the grass was not helped at all last winter by diverting foot traffic in those muddy areas. They still got overrun, and no grass could grow all winter without any sun. They eventually put the baskets back in before the sun really came out for good and there was still very little grass. It's my opinion that the grass will simply grow when the sun comes out in the Spring, so there is no reason to go through this again.

Please voice your concern about the baskets being removed if you agree. Does anyone know who it is exactly that we need to contact to make a real difference?

This idea was super ill-advised last year (to put it mildly), and as far as I know, we're still orbiting the sun at roughly the same distance and angle we were last year. Grass didn't grow on the spared areas last winter, and the holes whose baskets were left got way more traffic and looked worse too. Who do I need to call or email?
