Quick newb question. How do we calculate the ratio of rating vs strokes. Ie if someone with a 900 rating was playing someone with an 800 rating what is the handicap?

Quick newb question. How do we calculate the ratio of rating vs strokes. Ie if someone with a 900 rating was playing someone with an 800 rating what is the handicap?

That depends on the SSA of the course we are playing.

SSA
42-43 - 14
44-45 - 13
46-47 - 12
48-49 - 11
50-54 - 10
55-59 - 9
60-64 - 8
65-67 - 7
68-71 - 6

Most courses fall into the 50-54 range for an easy to figure 10 ratings points per stroke. 3 rounds shot the last 2 years at Sorosis the SSA were 49.38, 48.50 and 50.19 for an average of 49.36 making the match 11 ratings points per stroke.

900 VS 910 = no strokes
900 VS 911 = 1 stroke
900 VS 921 = 1 stroke
900 VS 922 = 2 strokes

yea i was thinking that a 457 was a little bit low.......;)

instead of ZZZ 0 it was supposed to be "AA 750ish"

Scott was waiting on a commitment on his final team member and we are graced by the presence of Aaron 'Double AA' Pittser. His rating will start at 950.

Thanks for catching my mistake with Virgil. Since he had no rating and he shot 914 at Pier, his rating is of course 914 to start. I had mistakenly entered 0 as his starting rating and it was halved by the formula. When I deleted his starting rating it reset to 914 like it should be. Anyone spot any other errors?:pirate:

I can't remember what was said at the captains meeting about the PDGA ratings update. Are we using our new PDGA ratings or going with the posted ratings?

Going with the posted ratings. We started with the PDGA ratings for those that had them, but subsequent ratings updates will have no effect on the TDG ratings until next year.:pirate:

Last year we 'reset' the ratings of the current PDGA members and that was an advantage. Our ratings are always high for TDG as we are using an older version of the spreadsheet. So if everybody's ratings are climbing and then only SOME of the ratings get lowered, the slackers who aren't current PDGA members start to whine...:pirate:

Quick call out: I think this players prelim round rating should be added to his current PDGA rating of 931

Bob,
I know you like talkin' trash but his rating after the match has nothing to do with whether or not you "azzz whup" him. Heck you both could (god forbid) play a 100 points over your respective ratings, you beat him, and both your ratings will go up.

P.S. Our teams play each other this season. Bring it on

Bob:biggrin2:

While I like the smack talk, we aren't using the 'Flash Oregon Series' weighted ranking system to determine player ratings. Win or Lose in your head-to-head match, only the round that he shoots will determine his rating...:pirate:
