OK, I will bite....... It seems a bit harsh to weight the one round at Pier equal to an existing player rating. I would suggest this formula:
[(PDGA player rating x 4) + Pier round rating] / 5 = New TDG rating

I think you did a great job Jordan.
What would you do for those of us that don't have a rating if you went by Drizzle's suggestion? :shooting:
This was my thinking:
4 Different types of players:
1. Current PDGA members (start from current PDGA rating)
2. Non-current PDGA members who played last year (start from final 07-08 TDG rating)
3. Non-current PDGA members with guestimated PDGA (start from that rating)
4. Non-current PDGA members without ratings (get rating shot at Pier)
My formulas:
1. [(PDGA player rating x 2) + Pier round rating] / 3 = New TDG rating
Note: if 2 rounds played at Pier Prelims 2nd round is also used - [(PDGA player rating x 2) + Pier 1st round + Pier 2nd round] / 4 = New TDG rating
2. (07-08 TDG player rating + Pier round rating) / 2 = New TDG rating
Note: if 2 rounds played at Pier Prelims 2nd round is also used - (07-08 TDG player rating + Pier 1st round + Pier 2nd round] / 3 = New TDG rating
3. (Guessed player rating + Pier round rating) / 2 = New TDG rating
Note: if 2 rounds played at Pier Prelims 2nd round is also used - (Guessed player rating + Pier 1st round + Pier 2nd round] / 3 = New TDG rating
4. Ave rating of rounds played at Pier Prelims.
So if we went with the Fo Shizzel suggestion only player types 1 & 2 would be effected.
I could see something like #1 (PDGA player rating x 4) & #2 (PDGA player rating x 3). I will run those numbers when I get back.:pirate:

Peter,
I am sorry but when I first talked to Jay the final team had yet to show up and we needed a 10th team. But the last team was just running a little late and we are full again for this TDG season.
Please check back next year as we always have some turnover. We usually get things going around Sep-Oct.

I like the suggestion by Pizzel above.I have been playing with the data Jordan provided earlier in this thread. It looks to me like we may want to consider a progressive system in weighting ratings. By progressive I mean increasing the weight of a players existing rating each time they play a round:
Round 1
((PDGA Rating X 4) + Round 1 Rating) / 5 = New Rating
Round 2
((New Rating X 5) + Round 2 Rating) / 6 = Newer Rating
Round 3
((Newer Rating X 6) + Round 3 Rating) / 7 = Newest Rating
etc.......
This will take a little extra work in tracking, but I would be willing to help out.

That is an interesting idea, but wouldn't the change in the ratings be minimal after half way through the season?
And while you may be looking at it as coming from a current PDGA member with a rating that's been determined by many PDGA rounds, your rating may be very accurate and weighting should be used. But many players in TDG don't fall into that category, and I'd rather come up with the best system to adjust ratings for players with no PDGA rating than worry about what happens to the PDGA members who will have their base rating changed with the next ratings update.
If we are going to up the complexity of the ratings, then I'd rather implement a system where you get less benefit from a round played below your rating than penalty for a round played above your rating...

Jordan--
I agree that those without PDGA ratings should be treated differently. The formula for those without ratings should look like this:
Round 1: Round 1 Score = New Rating
Round 2: (New Rating + Round 2 Score) / 2 = Newer Rating
Round 3: ((Newer Rating x 2) + Round 3 Score) / 3 = Newest Rating
etc....
This is just averaging all rounds played during TDG. This type of system, over time, should decrease the effect of rounds well above or well below a player's average.

I have no problem giving this system a try this year. Shoot me the file and I'll get all of the rest of the mess ready. Thanks!:bowing::jumpspin::bowing:
Due to Rockwood Roughneck's team captain's relocation I decided to let them change their roster. My reasoning is that we really haven't played any matches yet. Once we play this Sunday if someone moves or gets hurt there are no changes to the team roster and you will short that player.
Here's the new Roster:
Mike Nemi 997
Sean Helean 967
Joe Armijo 931
Ryan Williams 920
Zack Murphy 915
Eddie Florence 904
Debbie Nemi 648 6282
Camo Mike has stepped up to be the captain.
Ryan is a current PDGA member.
Eddie is not a PDGA member but played 2 Stumptown events and Calapooia so I averaged all of his rounds to set his rating.

The Treelove Calendar says 8:30.
That is because Treelove is smarter than I am! It would really be nice to get ready to go early for once. And this weekend we will get the extra hour of sleep to boot!
[Official Announcement]
The Treelove calendar will be the official word on start times for Team Disc Golf 08-09
Start times listed will be for captains to set line ups and tee off will be approximately 30 minutes later.
[/Official Announcement]
So I'll see you all at Sorosis at 8:30am and we'll tee off by 9 am. That should get us done just before noon and ready to roll the afternoon round no later than 1 pm!:pirate::cheers:

(One question, though - will lunch be the same as it was at Pier or are we all bringing our own?)
Last year Big Winds busted out the grill and cooked up some lunch. But I haven't had any communication with them about this year, so it may be fend for yourself. Still, with fast food just down the hill near the freeway there is chow within easy distance.
One of the suggestions about things to change this year was to have each team bring the food one week. I would still schlep the grill each week but lunch would be prepared by the team for everybody. But I didn't get on that fast enough so we may see that change next year as well.
See ya Sunday!:pirate:
