After all that was said about Adair this weekend, I think we should reconsider and put it back on the schedule. One of the best courses in our area and apparently the pads are not that bad. How about January instead of Dabney twice? Dabney in the winter is worse than Adair by far. That is... unless you're a mud skipper.

I completely disagree and hope that Adair stays off the schedule. For one, I don't think the drive is worth it during winter (personal preference). Second, I have played Adair numerous time during the winter, and the pads are some of the worst in the state during inclement weather. I doubt this has changed unless they have swapped out pads during the past year.

Can't wait for TDG!!!!

They have swapped out pads and though it was wet yesterday, no one complained about slipping.

1 Adair 1 Dabney is a much better schedule than 2 Dabney.

Sorry, I know this is not my place since I am not playing Team Golf, but I wanted to share my perspective from a safety view.
There have been some improvements for sure out there to the pads, but I slipped twice on the pads in the woods. Granted, it was my own fault for not double checking the first pad. Gawain had a slip too. SO, I love Adair and it was fun, but the pads still are an issue. Make sure you really check them out before you throw.

As you were there and I wasn't, I was merely passing on second-hand info. If your experience was different, that is news to me but good to know. Slipping on the pad sucks... but it happened several times this weekend on cement pads, as well.

Yay my FM1 card slipped more than once on the cement pads at Willamette yesterday, so slippery when wet I think could apply to rubber or cement. I love Adair too, so I personally would not mind playing there once during team disc golf. :yay:

There is only one thing in the universe that I know is absolute: The tee-pads at Willamette Park are the worst cement pads in the state as far as playability in inclement weather.

Nobody has heard anything from anyone. Nobody has said that they are going to be pulled. People are just WONDERING if they are going to pull the baskets again this winter for another round of reseeding. Since nobody has heard that they are DEFINITELY NOT removing baskets, Pier is not on the schedule for TDG after prelims. If baskets don't get pulled Pier will be back on the schedule in Jan or Feb.

Wow. I guess I should've commented on this thread when I first saw it. I didn't even know this was going like gangbusters over here.

Now where to start...

#1 Pins at Pier.
So J-Man played with Blado and he didn't say anything about pulling the pins at Pier. Did J-Man ever ask Blado about the subject or did it "just not come up"? Is Blado still in the loop on all plans for Pier? I thought that he was assigned another park. Regardless, I would rather err on the side of caution and NOT schedule Pier until we are sure that they aren't pulling the pins this year.

#2 If pins @ Pier, what park does it replace?
Pier is probably the single best inclement weather course in the city. And I am not that fond of Timber, and wouldn't want to play it twice instead of Dabney given the choice.

#3 Adair or not to Adair.
This is the question. I've gone back and forth on it. I really like to play this course but I think that I'm going to opt to stick closer to home. Gawain gave a pretty glowing review on the work that was done out there when I asked him about the course. So I hope to get out there soon for a round but too many people were loud enough for me to not play it this year.

October 10-11 - Pier - 9 am Start
October 24-25 - Sorosis - 9a Start - 8x Captains Set Lineups

December 6 - Hornings (all in 1 day) - 8a S - 7x CSL

February 13-14 - Timber (or Pier) - 9a S - 8x CSL

These 3 events on the schedule represent weeks where we return to a course that we've previously played:
January 2-3 - Milo McIver - 8x S - 8a CSL
January 16-17 - Dabney - 8x S - 8a CSL
February 13-14 - Timber (possible 2nd trip to Pier) - 9a S - 8x CSL

One or more of these weeks could be replaced with a return visit to Hornings to play the new course or play Pier if all the baskets are still in place or even play North Bonneville.

I would like to go back and play at Hornings Meadow course and North Bonniville. Bonniville is a great course its got a great mix of holes and yes some holes are layed out close to each other but it plays good. There is no concrete but the ground is like sand dirt and you only need a good run up on about 5 holes the rest are on the short side but they use the tree's and hills for obstacles. Lance and I have played this course a few times and we think its a good course. I also would like to go back and play Pier to if the baskets are in because it would be nice not to play so many courses twice.:biggrin2:

Bonne was cool, it delivered more than I expected. Incredibly scenic, longer holes than I expected, and AWESOME WIND, and that was on a calm day! Reminded me of a more scenic version of Steilacoom with the deciduous trees, flatter terrain, and vintage architecture.

There will be traction issues, just like anywhere. Honestly, when traction is bad, I PREFER lack of teepads; it allows me to wear the cleats, and not have issues ON the teepads. In fact, I would recommend cleats (sorry, grass, it's just two days). In fact, I would ask that all Saturday players wear cleats, and then Sunday 3xC+D can wear slippers, and we will wear cleats on SGS!

If we want to run singles on the West course and Dubs on the East course, then we could add that course back in. Adding this course also helps out Big Winds with a slightly shorter travel day than say another trip to Milo or Timber.

What say the rest of you? Or is this just Pizzel's fave course?:pirate:

Love how you ask for our input, then make an edict without our input. :shooting:

You letting Shupp push you around? Say the word, I will sic Denny on him... :cop:

Rooster's not my favorite, but I love TDG anywhere! :chug:

Amen Brother Denny! And strangely, it is also the best Heat of Summer course unless you prefer jumping in the river at Milo or Dabney...

So now the great debate begins: Do we want to play Horning's a second time or head out to Rooster Rock on Feb 13-14?:pirate:

Hornings! Meadow Ridge would challenge us all. Also if we did Hornings, we might all be able to do a Saturday. Then the Sunday people would get to spend Valentine's with their spouses. However this plays no factor in my opinion, cause I love playing with my Saturday crew. Saturday's Rock!:yay:

All in all, we will do whatever you say Jordan. You are the boss and you hold this together for all of us. Thank you for your work and allowing us to have a little bit of input.

We will be using the parking lot so bring pop ups. If the weather is really bad then we can go up the road a bit and use the shelter. I hope to be there by 7 am to help set up. Gawain is working on the Highland maps for the dubs rounds. Cindy is helping with the scorecards and I am finishing up the scores and ratings from last event.

We should have a great time at Horning's, let's hope for decent weather to go along with it.:pirate:

After all that was said about Adair this weekend, I think we should reconsider and put it back on the schedule. One of the best courses in our area and apparently the pads are not that bad. How about January instead of Dabney twice? Dabney in the winter is worse than Adair by far. That is... unless you're a mud skipper.

Well adair is awsome but also an hour away from portland. That means that big winds will have about an 2.5 hour drive to adair instead of an hour. Oh and by the way no body is representing adair this year team wise so I think it would be waste of time for the trech down there.

ROOSTER!!!!!!!! No re-run courses. The course record on this site for the east side of rooster is -3 for two rounds i think. It's not a gimme course. Lets just last minute change this weekends trip to hornings to include meadow ridge so everyone will stop the whining!

Lets just last minute change

We don't do ANYTHING last minute. The only reason that we are even talking about changing the schedule is because it is the last half of the season we are changing. There's an entire team that doesn't use this board.

We will discuss the course to be used for the 1st week in February after this weekend.:pirate:

North Bonne was a fun course. I'd like to add it to the schedule.:pirate:

You better bring your rubber boots to north bonneville. The holes 3-6 are going to be wet. There is alot of standing water out in those fields. So by then they should be nice and icey. Bring it on!!!

As far as I know, yes. Shupp did say something about taking care of it though... :whistler:

Okay Jordan It will cost to play at Horning but we still pay to play at state parks. I will ask Bob what he would charge for us and I will find a way to pay for it. so if I can work this out would you add Horning to the list that way you can save your $4 for a bottle of good Gin and I have a free keg a beer that I could use for the event some good winter beer with lots of good hops.:yay:

Jevon I dont know if Jordan work out what we will pay and I think that everyone can come up with the $3. I was going to get a sponsor for this but no one ask me to. I will not bring a keg to this event after talking to Bob he does not carry insurance for this and we dont what anyone getting a DUI so I will bring the keg to the last event at Milo because I can get a permit from the state parks.

The $3 fee is in Effect so please help Bob out. He's done so much for dg on the westside of town that we should all be able to come up with the fee for a day's dg. Good call on the keg too, we don't want to get anyone in trouble...
