I spoke to Jeff/Sandy about playing Pier for the first time (hooray!), and will call him when I get to town tomorrow. If anybody wants to play with a young crusty:seeya:, I'll try to get there between 2 and 3 p.m. I've heard this is a really great, well manicured course. Really looking forward to this! Ken

Hey Dale! I would love to play a round with you. Unfortunately, I have a telephonic class at 5 p.m. (have to be back at the hotel in Vanco by that time), then a company dinner at 6 p.m. From a young crusty, to a super crusty grandmaster, thanks for the invite! I'll be in Vanco in mid Oct., so I'll post on here again. Ken

No, by a disc as I was walking down the soccer field towards hole 2. Son of a bitch threw on a large group of us, and the runners, he yelled 4, I ducked my head and covered my neck with my left hand and it hit me...hard too. Couldn't use it for a few days, had it xrayed, no breaks. But a week later it is still slightly swollen and I can only get a ring on my index finger. The guy is lucky I'm a pacifist, but I have decided that any disc that hits me in the future is mine, I'll either cut it in 2 or sell it for a few bucks to NA.

with all do respect that sounds like a discgolfer issue and not a runner issue. There is talk of moving hole two to prevent that what do u think

mmmm...i should probably mind my own business...but, dude, you're on a disc golf course, you are a disc golfer, the son of a bitch yelled "fore"...i think getting hit on a disc golf course - by a disc - is simply a risk we all take. It happens, drives go awry... at least he yelled something instead of hiding in the bushes and laughing... ye whom have never driven off a fairway may cast the first disc... or something...
peace threw disc golf,

No, you were not there, I was one of well over one hundred folks in that area due to the track meet. NO ONE was throwing #1, until this mouth breather. The disc SHOULD NEVER BEEN IN THE AIR...period It doesn't have a goddamn thing to do with my status as a DGer; more to do with a selfish asshole that was never taught manners. And lucky he hit a DGer, knowing and understanding the fucking risks is all that's keeping this asshole from being sued. Which is what would have happened if it had hit a high school kid there to run for their school.

ahh... i see... i didn't at all understand the situation and was confused as to why you felt he was so in the wrong. Makes a lot more sense now. I'm often irritated by the lack of etiquette exhibited by some of the golfers out there in the public parks and am glad always that I learned to golf with my father who definitely learned me up right. I 've seen people throwing down on that extra hole 19 in pier and give very little thought to the folks playing in on two, in fact I watched one such group toss their putters at the basket, walk right across the green in complete disregard to the people actually playing that hole... it's too bad that many golfers out there really haven't been taught any manners... and I do apologize for getting on your case, hopefully all is forgiven. :o

J is perfectly correct in this issue. Nobody had any business throwing a disc off of one or anywhere in that area with the number of people that were around. We were all the way on top of the hill by the soccer field. It was an idiot move by an idiot. :nono: :pullhair:

absolutely... that's a whole different story altogether... I didn't put together track meet + tons of people = anyone with an ounce of smarts would choose to skip the hole. Point taken, next time I'll go with my gut and just butt out...
now please stop shaking your finger at me. ;)

Hehe, I was thinking the same thing when I first read J's post. Seemed a little out of character for someone who has been labeled as a hippie before. But yeah, makes more sense now.
But J, you do have to appreciate the fact the guy yelled "fore." I know it might have been stupid of him to throw in the first place, but imagine how pissed off you'd be if he hadn't said anything! It's a shitty situation, but you might be lucky that you got away with just hurting your FOREfinger. (har har har!) I do get a kick out of "mouth breather" being one of your preferred insults though. :D
Anyway, back on topic a bit...what'd you think of Pier, Ken?

Chris, I will definitely PM you next time I'm in the area. Had a lot of fun. Sorry Sandy and I gave you some bad ju ju on your smokin' round.
Tim: Wow, I love Pier. So beautiful, great layout, very clear course, trees are just tremendous, perfect difficulty without being ridiculous. Love the elevation. Gee, I guess I liked it. Got a 5 over with no warm-ups and a brand new course, so I'll take it. Went from 9 even. I'll definitely be back!
