Will there be player's packs?
Or is this a fundraiser?
Or is all money going to payout?

Thanks, Stumptown! This sounds awesome. I'm very :waaah: that I won't be able to make it.

This is NOT a fundraiser and yes there will be a players pack. Exactly what that will include is yet to be determined.

We are using the baskets as is. In other words, sacrifice an XD that morning to the putter gods and hope it works to prevent the blow-throughs.

Quick question to Jeff or anyone: Do baskets have to meet specific standards to be used in PDGA sanctioned events? If so, do the baskets at Hornings meet these standards?

Spanks!

I talked with Bob when the course first went in, and he said he went off of PDGA guidelines when the baskets were designed.

In order to be sanctioned the baskets have to be sanctioned, not just meet specifications, this normally means sending one in to be checked for approval. They might be willing to approve them based upon measurements and photos, but I don't know. I bet magilla could find out.

Asking for "XC Tier" instead of "C" would probably cover the "alternative" targets..:whistler:

An XC Tier does not get ratings. I don't think that is a good solution.

An XC Tier does not get ratings. I don't think that is a good solution.

Why would you think that XC designation would not get the rounds rated??

Only "alternate" format "X" events dont get rated such as match play or doubles.

Type of target shouldnt matter......as long as it meets the "standard" for a target. "Tone Poles" would be in the same situation.
Regardless, I would think that an email or phone call to Addie or Carolyn at the PDGA would get you a satisfactory result in the end.

Jeff,

Homemade baskets are allowed to be used at PDGA C-Tier events. Thanks for asking the question – most folks don’t bother.

Have a great event!

I am working on having lunch there... but it would for purchase, not provided.

We have something in mind for the players packs, but that will ultimately be determined by whether they are done in time. So, to put it bluntly, I'm not sure... yet.

Word is that camping is $15 (tent or Bus) and you can bring firewood for a camp fire also!!! Just need to let Bob know youre camping I guess.

Ok, Got us reg'd for the stumptown tourney. Sarah and I will be coming up with Chris Cusack and his girlfriend. We're bringing the buses and plan on getting to Hornings around noonish on Friday to play a round and maybe do some biking. We will be camping that evening regardless of weather and would love to see a few others out there with us. We'll bring some Guitars etc for a sing around the campfire.

Hope to see lots of folks there. Looks like there are only 16 folks reg'd so far? Is that correct? Is there a registration list someplace?

My question is is why are bob and troy in recreational when, since they have so many years of experience, not in intermediate?

Obviously, you've never seen them throw.

Seriously, there is a misconception that "Recreational" refers to "Newer Player". Not true, not true, not true. "Recreational" (I prefer MA3) refers to someone who has a PDGA rating < 800. Bob qualifies. Troy barely qualifies, but is well within his right to play that division.

Actually, I've ranted about this quite a bit. A little bit here, but mostly on some other forum. If everyone played according to their rating (I'm talking AMS here), we would have better balance in every division, resulting in better competition.

My question is is why are bob and troy in recreational when, since they have so many years of experience, not in intermediate?

I'm not sure if 1 1/2 yrs qualifies as "years of experience" but the learning curve has been slow. As Scott mentioned my PDGA rating does indeed make me eligible to play MA3 (rec). My PDGA rating currently is only 723 which actually makes me eligible to play Novice or MA4 but I prefer playing "UP".

I believe the cut off for MA3 is higher than 800, but not much higher. my 799 rating makes it in just fine. I know with the next ratings update I will go up a over 800 but still low enough to continue to play MA3 :biggrin2:

My mistake. It is quite a bit higher. To play MA3, you have to have a rating <900. To play MA4, you have to have a rating <850.

Oh, Troy... it's cute when you talk smack.

I say D-Walk takes your division, actually... but good luck.

Not making any other predictions other than T-Bell winning her division.

I think its cute when I talk smack too, its even cute when i back it up and actually win, like I did today. :biggrin2:

Thanks D Walk for a great 2nd round and keeping it close enough to be a challenge

Thanks to everyone who put on this tournament it was awesome, and the weather was great. We camped Friday night, and for sure will be doing that next summer a few times for some awesome golf weekends:yay:. Thanks too the guys who found my 150 champion Valkyrie on hole 6, and thanks to Shari from my group who found my backup 150 champion Valkyrie on hole six:cheerleader:. That would have sucked to have to re-tee twice on the same hole on the same day. The girls in the Rec women's group rocked we had so much fun, and it was a battle for first I ended up on top by only one stroke :trophy:. Congrats to Jeni for taking the CTP in our group. Sari you were awesome for only playing 3 months. I hope to see you ladies at some upcoming Chickflick events:).

Results have been posted to the PDGA and you can now check out your round ratings etc...

I wanted to take a moment here to thank everyone for both showing up and for taking it easy on a first time TD. I hope everyone had a great time out there.

When we were all said and done we had paid out over $550 to the Pros and over $1200 in Scrip for the AMs.

Thank you again to:
Stumptown Disc Golf
Bob Horning and everyone up at Horning's Hideout
Andina Restaurant for the Gift Certificate
The Oregon Series for letting us borrow their scoreboard
Mike Rideout for a Couple of CTPs
Ryan Gwillim & Cris Brow for dyeing all of those sweet trophy discs
Steve Carson for managing the online entries

Really bummed I couldn't make this one - A one day PDGA event at one of my fave courses, on a perfect day. I was in a class all day and :headbang: evertime I looked out the window.

But I want to give a huge shout out to my buddy Bob (the Over the Hill one) who took third place in his division and won his first PDGA scrip.:rockon:

a 48 in the first round was rated 993!! wow (nothing against Tyler) but to me that seems high. Especially given that 18 was shortened. Wish I could have played... but it was fun to see Embree get an ace.
