A 1000 rated player would have been within 10' on 18. :seeya:

damn, thats true. but a 999 rated player hits that putt 99.9% of the time :)

We all know ya gonna be 1000 rated, patience and consistency are part of the 1000 club, guess it's PDGA's way of testing you before they decide to give ya a 1000 rating? heh... and niceee round there, gosh, I would be happy to get a score half as good while not playing so fast heh...

 I bet if you switch to Innova you would be over 1000.... Just kidding.

First time running Adair. Dam, what a tough course!

54 strokes in 18:00 exactly

Birdies on 1, 4, 11, and 15. Double bogey on 5 (roll away on the berm), single bogey on 7 and 17.

I sprinted very hard at the end to reach 18's basket at the 18 minute mark. Brutal course to run with the elevation changes. I look forward to shooting a decent score and improving my time out there.

Have you considered holding a tournament of this style? non-sanctioned, obviously, but I think it could be loads of fun. A player's final score for a round could be in minutes and seconds, with time bonuses/penalties for however many strokes under/over par she was. There may not be a ton of hardcore golfers who are as into running as you or I, but on the flip side it would be a unique chance to get some local HS or college runners interested in DG if you advertised it in the right places... I know I'd come down from Seattle for it. just sayin'. :jumpspin:

It took me 46 minutes and I cut through two groups, I was not running, but I thought that was damend fast, But seriously you played 18 holes in less that 15 minutes, let alone 18 holes at Adair in 18 minutes, no wonder I am not a pro, you are truly a gangster sir!

I shot even by the way

I did my first speed round the other night at Dalaiwood. I didn't have anything to time with but I would estimate the round took about 25 minutes. A good part of that time was looking for my drive on hole 15. I shot -2 with three discs and a recovering sprained ankle.
It is fun to try once and a while. I really got to time my next one cuz I know I can get under 18 minutes.

I tried playing a speed round once at Terrace, though it wasn't really that I was seeing how fast I could go. More like "crap, I'm getting fat." All was well until I got to Old 11 and 12...11 took it out of me, and then 12 punched me in the gut. I went back to getting fat after that.

I've actually seen tourneys where they have that as a side game, only for a few holes though. But yeah, the only criteria is the amount of time it takes you to finish, obviously, the fewer times you throw the disc, the faster you'll finish anyway. Looked like a lot of fun, especially for the spectators. You could break it up into divisions by BMI. Or even more entertaining, BAC. :D

I think the BAC-divisions should be reserved for Speed GLOW Golf...

hmmm...I play disc golf because of the lack of running involved...except when I forget a disc or drop my sham-wow on the last hole...speed golf, silly, totally awesome and admirable and somehow inspiring, but still, silly...

I take that back...it's not silly...just somehow more motivated...maybe I was projecting and your passion for the sport makes my passion for the sport seem silly...

speed golf on, you crazy diamonds...

I think it should be based on score and time, not just time. I'd like to develop a rating system for courses that could help determine the value of each stroke in terms of seconds. For example, factors would include.

1. Length of Course (Raw Feet + Walk Outs)
2. Change in Elevation (How many hills and what not)
3. SSA (The average 1000 rated round for the course)
4. Average speed to jog the course without a disc (Running from teepad to basket and so on)

That way, whatever your time (Running time + value of seconds per stroke) is your score for the course.

The basic rules I follow are:

1. Time starts once the first throw is realesed, Time stops when the disc comes to rest in the basket on the final hole.

2. Three disc maximum.

3. All PDGA rules regarding stance and other general issues of play must be adhered to (NO FALLING PUTTS, OB and Mandos must be observed).

I have put some thought into it, maybe at some Adair tournaments next year we can try something like this out...

For me it would be kahwaizie. I hate to think of all the people who drop dead on those treadmills in hospitals. It's happened to people I know. I too will still run for the disc I moroned in the fern two holes back. That would be a hell of a way to go, and 'splainin' that to ol' St. Pete would be hard on my ego. Speed kills.
