I have a possible Hagg Lake team wanting to play. I need to get all of their full names, and see if they have the commitment to play all team disc events. Might not happen, since we love to play Hagg so much in the winter, but we'll see.

While you are always welcome to join, I don't care if Hagg Lake supplies 100% of the TDG players we won't be playing any matches at Hagg Lake.:pirate:

the main requirement is making most of the events if the travel is not a problem :rolleyes2:
if it can be worked out the league may split into a sat/sun divisions if enough teams come into the mix. And if some1 steps up to be JLow...which i can def. not fill his shoes, but i am willing to help make Sat's. a reality.
I have spoken with my Capt. and he says our team is ok either day for us.
So it will depend on the amount of teams.
I say bring on the newbe's and lets go Sat's.

OK, where do I begin?
Let's start with the champs. The returning champs get special treatment in this league. They are in and I've talked to Camo. He'll get me his roster soon.
Next, I aint doin this and not paying on a team so GBS is in too. We are finalizing our roster soon.
Here's a rundown on the list of teams in so far:
Rockwood Roughnecks
Good Bad & Sassy
Drunker & Disorderlier
Green Bowl Packers
Westside Slingers
Dark Horse
Poach This!
Vapor Trails
Crash'In Chains
Eastside Crushers
3 Couples & D-Walk
Still waiting on word from Big Winds and Crazy 18 is 6/7 of the way there...
That puts us over the 10 team limit for all playing at one course. I have offers for help running a Saturday/Sunday same course same weekend split and a Sunday only on different courses.
Here are the what I see as the differences:
1 Saturday/Sunday takes up the whole weekend with TDG and when I look at the calendar I see more conflicts with Saturdays than Sundays especially on the December 5/6 weekend and the Stumptown membership tourney. Although Sunday Feb 14th could be a problem...
2 Saturday/Sunday means that the teams don't meet each other except at the finals.
3 Saturday/Sunday people could watch NFL on Sundays instead of play TDG.
So first I think that we need to find out who CAN or WANTS to play TDG on Saturdays: So far we have 13 possible teams. To split evenly we'd need to add 3 more teams for an 8 Saturday/8 Sunday split. If we can only get 1 more team we will go with a 6 Saturday/8 Sunday split.
So far Westside and Eastside want to play on Saturday. Who else wants to play on Saturday? Jet wants to play so maybe the pick-up team can play Saturday? That leaves at least 3 more teams needed to play Saturday to go with this plan. PLEASE RESPOND WITH YOUR TEAM PREFERENCE ASAP!
Andrew: Teams from out of town are always welcome but it has been a problem in the past that they can't all travel to all of the events. It is unfair to other teams if less than 4 each round show up to play every event. Then some teams that play you get easy match points and others have to play for them. There a major incentives to having all players attend all matches, not the least of which is 1 match point per event. That alone can determine division winners...
So if you want to get a team together please make sure that at least 4 people can make EVERY event (see the Calendar for the dates).
This TDG is centered around the PDX Metro area because that's where I live. This year we are planing on playing Sorosis, Trojan, Pier, Dabney, Timber and Milo. If we get a valley team we will probably play Adair. To be considered for play a course must have 18 cement tee pads and some kind of shelter area available. Extras like bathrooms, electricity and lots of parking come into play as well.
That's what I got for now. Anymore questions please bring them forward.

Hey everybody... I hope I'm not too late but I would love to get on a team.
My girlfriend and I both play and if we are going to play team disc it would have to be together. I am a pro (I still think it's funny to describe myself that way) I'm 992 rated and I hope that I would bring the skills that that rating would seem to indicate. Tassia is my lady, she has been play INT this year and has a 706 rating and is definatly on her way up... We're a package deal, help us out!

Once again to all out of town players, if you want to play you'd be committing to playing in 9 events held at Sorosis, Trojan, Pier, Dabney, Timber and Milo parks. If we had players from Eugene such as yourselves we might be inclined to play once at Dexter, but that means you've be driving to Portland or farther the 8 other times. If you can commit to this schedule there are people looking for players to fill a team.:pirate:

Leverich can only be used if we split TDG into divisions of 8 teams or less.
It does meet the cement tees and shelter/bathroom amenities though...:pirate:

As soon as N Bonneville gets cement tee pads that course is in the schedule! It has all of the rest of the amenities covered I believe...
But who wants to play 'natural' tees in the driving rain and wind of the gorge in the winter? Rooster Rock was bad enough and the larger field and bad walkouts between East & West don't let us play that course anymore either...

Bob, Bob, Bob,
You beat Sam's "big Daddy" sausage? Wow, you must've been drunk and disorderly to do something like that. Frankly, I find it repellant and disgusting. But you do what ever you need to win. If Sam let you win because you beat his big daddy sausage, then good for you. You'll, however, have to beat me the old fashion way -- with discs and baskets. My angelic ass wouldn't have it any other way.

Leverich? Seriously? But there are only 12 holes! Sounds like there won't even be enough room...
We played Sorosis without pads in years past, why not play Adair, Willamette, or Waterloo?
Cascades Gateway has 18 concrete pads. And there are mid-valley courses I have not even been to yet, like Keizer Rapids and Woodmansee!
Not to mention, even Skyline and Lucky Mud are closer to Portland than Sorosis! Let's play them!

One of the things I really enjoyed about TDG was that everyone got together at the same course at the same time and it almost felt like tournament season. Now, we will have fewer people attending each event and that will take away from some of the enjoyment for me.
Still excited and will do whatever Jordan decides for us to do... just don't like the change so much.

Sam, the TDG changes are not that big a deal. Personally, I welcome the expansion of the League. There have always been so many on the outside looking in; now they finally get to join and play! It doesn't matter if there are 144 people at a 1-day TDG event, you are only going to get to play with 6 different people at the most in your groups, you probably won;t even have time to say hi to the other 137!

Jordan. This must be how you felt as TD of the RCO. You spent a lot of time working towards a final product that you felt really great about and felt that you really contributed to the greater good. But you learned that, no matter what your intentions or how hard you try, you can't please everyone, didn't you? You learned that no matter how hard you tried, there would always be at least one disgrunlted golfer who only wants to look at the negative instead of the positive. You found that those negatives really soured you on the whole experience. Does that about sum it up? Good. Now you know what it is like to be a moderator at NWDGN. Cheers.

when I just clicked over here using my Show New Posts link, this thread didn't even show up as HAVING a new post.
Oh whatever shall you do? Heaven forbid you might have to re-read something. I would demand my money back, if I were you.
(PS: Didja ever think it might just take a little time for the new cookies to get set after they revamped the forum structure? Didja, IT boy? Ya better get to browsin'...)

It was just a bad day for me all around and I took it out on the forum. 9:07pm was when I got home from work that day. Shite happens.
It must be that the New Posts link isn't determined by your username login as much as it is by your local machine's cookies. I accessed this forum from work multiple times before and after the move yesterday, thinking that when I accessed the site from home it would 'remember' that I had been here. Local cookies must be the answer.
And Sam, The Option for Notification Type under Thread Subscritption below this very post is still the default (for me) of 'Instant email notification'. But I have yet to get an e-mail. As a test I will set it differently with this post and set it BACK on the next post.

Cheers.
Ah Scott, I can see your point exactly. Very well played sir!:bowing:
I actually agree with the reasoning behind the move (and can't wait to see the fix for the REAL front page hogs - the 11 forums under Disc Golf Courses. That could be 3 Forums with Multiple sub-forums.) but it makes me wonder why Women's Disc Golf couldn't be a sub forum of the first Disc Golf Forum.:chinscratch:
And as I am doing some much needed IT work around the office (hence the late day at work AND the crappy attitude) I can certainly understand the way things can go wrong with computers. So please except my apology, I wasn't mad at you as much as I was just mad. :kissflowers:
Let's just hope that the e-mail notification thing works now...:pirate:

That's a GREAT idea - I LOVE it. But I'm going to chill on the changes for a bit, to let everyone get used to what we have. If the idea of subforms seems to be generally accepted, then I'll float the idea to the other mods next week.

The issue with doing it there is that there would be much more involved in seeing if those boards have received any new posts. Now, they bold on the front page when there is something new. What would we see then? We would have to dig down a level before seeing if there was anything new.
Not sure how I feel about that, yet...

So is Tony like Cher or Prince with just the one name?
And while I have everybody's attention can the new teams please tell me the PDGA ratings for the players on their teams if they have one. If they don't have a rating have they ever played in a tourney that I can see the results for online? If nothing else, where do they play most and what do they average at that course?
Or we could go with all non-PDGA rated (or returning players) just start out with a rating of 1000...:whistler:

If you do not have a PDGA rating then you can use the last rating from TDG last year.
If you are new to TDG and don't have a PDGA rating then we need to come up with a starting rating for every player since this is a handicap league.
And yes you can just list your team lineup and ratings like this:
Tom T-Ry Rybloom 964
Mike Dizzy Gillespie 985
Kevin Madrid 942
Joe Garrettson 958
Chris Chompy Dahmen 908
Jeff Baker 946
Tim Skellenger 994

We'll have to go over these numbers, as I know that the PDGA lists you with a rating of 919.
When you and I last talked we agreed that 900 would work to start for Louie, unless we can get a rating round in for him before we start the season.
There will also has just been a new ratings update from the PDGA as of 9/1/09 and Dooley is up to 930 and now leads me by 2 ratings points...:shooting:

I am one of the lowest "rated" players on my team. normally being beaten by at least 3 of our group. The way the handicap thing works, I think the "Crazy 18" could pull off alot of wins this year. I am not saying we are the best players, but we got some good players and the handicap thing will help us for sure.
Most of us play Hagg mostly, so almost any course is much easier then there, I think we have a good shot.

Troy geeze I was kidding  I was trying to make the point that your ratings list for your team was rather incomplete. Jordan gave some instructions on what to do if you had players that were non PDGA. Jordan does a lot of work on this thing, and I think he is relying on the team captains to provide him the info requested so he can determine a fair rating for those players.

WMD
Whiskey Discs
Sunday Teams: 9
Rockwood Rednecks
Good Bad & Sassy
Dunker & Disorderlier
Poach This!
Green Bowl Puckers
Dork Horse
Big Winds
Vapor Tails
Westside Whiners
Saturday OR Sunday: 1
3 C's & a D-Walk
Undecided Teams: 1
Team Skinny
Teams on the brink of forming:
Graham's
We have to get to even numbers of teams on each day. We could get by with a 10/6 split but I'd really like to see at least a 10/8 split so the Saturday league can play against more teams. We need another team!

I do believe 3 C's & a D was the first new team to declare, so I think that if any of the new teams gets to play Sunday it should be us :) Realistically it seems like there are allready to many teams on Sunday, so I would think all the new teams would be playing on Saturday's. Just my two cents untimatley it is up to Jordan.

Not sure if anyone suggested this, but what if we ALL played on one day ie Sunday, at two different courses. This would give each team the chance to play 9 different teams.

When you read all 12 pages of the thread, you see that idea has been floated before. I think it lost out to the concept that there are many people who would love to play TDG, but are not free on Sundays.

I read through this thread twice, (and I am not getting any younger) and saw that it had been mentioned, but I must have missed where someone said the could NOT play on a Sunday. Are there teams that can NOT play on Sunday?
I am not trying to stir up this hornet's nest, but it just seems like it would make more sense to me to have all the teams play the same day.
Thank you all again for letting us new teams into the league, I am really looking forward to TDG this year! WMD will happily play where ever and when ever we are told to play, and we will in fact show no mercy and crush you all like grapes. :bricks:

Well then here is YOUR schedule:
Week 1: Leverich
Week 2: Hornings
Week 3: Orchard
Week 4: Greeway
Week 5: Rockwood and Vance
Week 6: 4 rounds at Rooster east
Week 7: Wortman
Week 8: Lucy Mud
Jordon will fill in who your opponents will be. Be sure you get all those players out there. It would be a shame if you had to forfeit any matches.

You are right there are some teams that can't play on Sundays. That is why there is a Sunday league and a Saturday league.

Sam, I beleive you burned every bridge for having a DG'er hire you, but I did hear they are hiring a peanut tosser at Dodger Stadium. You got some stiff competition there too, there is that one guy who can toss a bag of peanuts to anyone who raises their hands from like thirty rows away.

As long as we are playing against 3 C's and a D then where we play doesn't matter, anywhere any time D-Walker, bring it on! ;)

I am really getting to know this thread now that I have read it twice again, and the fact is that WMD(formerly Crashin Chains) was the first new team and the 6th total team to sign up for TDG.

I am sorry Jet you are right. I read this thread through twice more and there is ONE team that cannot play on Sunday and that is Crazy 18. So actually if the Crazy 18 can somehow work their schedule to make Sunday work ALL the other teams said they could play on Sunday. There were a couple of teams that chose Saturday over Sunday, but that does't mean that they can NOT play on Sunday.
I like the league all playing the same day as it makes it possible to play a different team every week, where if we split Sat/Sun the Saturday teams will have to repeat opponents. This is just my opinion, but I feel it is still open to discuss.

I could run one day maybe later in the season sure, after i figured out the system. I know someone else volunteered to run one; if a few more people stepped up and we split them up we could make it happen.
I am obviously very excited to play TDG this year, but I also have a busy life with kid and I never have enough time as it is... so the real answer to your question is no. I cannot run one of the groups this season, my woman would throw me out and I would be sleeping in the dog house. After last winter that would be very cold.

If we only have 16 teams then I'd prefer to have a 8/8 split for the Saturday/Sunday league idea. That requires at least one of the teams currently signed up for Sunday would have to play Saturday. If no one steps up it may have to be my team...
If we can get to 18 teams with a 10/8 split at least the schedule would work out better. But that means beating the bush for another team in addition to Chris' team. Ask around.
I'm heading out to the Celebration this weekend.:pirate:

yes out in the cold might not be a good thing.
It is a cool thing you are excited to play.
As for your lack of time, well most of us have that very same problem.
So as it stands a couple of people have stepped up to run a Sat. TDG to go along with Sundays TDG.
Because of Religious reasons the Sat. TDG group was formed. :bowing::angel:
I believe that as it stands with 16 teams it should be split into to 8 team leagues not 10/6 that makes the fields unbalanced and unfair to all concerned. The Top 4 from each day playoff do determine the Champ. from each day meeting for the Trophy "Coffee Table"....:D
The teams from last year should have priority on their pref. of which day they play on and the NEW teams have to take Sat's as the day they play on.
That will be decided by Jordan or a vote by the Capt's. at the preseason meeting.

I was wondering when the capt. meeting will be held and where it will be?
I would like to say that all of the new teams should have to play on saturday that is why the league extended into saturday in the first place so us newbies could enjoy the fun of TDG.

Here is a thought maybe we could have teams switch days once a month from both sides that way we have a chance to play each other. That means Saturday people would have to play like one or two sundays in the 3 months and have some of the Sunday people play a couple of Saturdays. Then we have a chance to play everyone or close to it. That would be nice to see some of the other folks and play on there day. Eastside crushers could go without NFL church for one or two days without getting struck down.:chinscratch:

Sounds like a recipe for showing up at the wrong courses to me. Last year there were too many teams for everyone to play eachother and this year there are even more teams. Even if we switch it up each week, not all teams will meet during the season.

Do we have a solid list of the courses that will be used and it shouldn't matter if it has tee pads or not a good course layout should determine if it gets used we live in the NW and it is winter disc so a little weather shouldn't slow teams down I don't mind getting dirty. I also saw rockwood/vance mentioned these seem to be a little small for league play we will also have to schedule around rockwood winter series.

From what Jordan has said that we will play the same course both days so there is no problem about showing up to the wrong course. Also if you make a schedual before we start there is no reason to so up the wrong day. Most of us are adults except for Dan (the real old man) Denney.:nahnah:
