August 12th, 2009, 10:50 AM
The SPSDGA is in the infant stages of planning a fundraiser tourney at Yauger for the WA rep to USDGC (Chandler "CHANMAN" Fry). So far I've got a date, and some sponsors. The date is Sunday Sept. 27th. The rest of the details will come.
Im looking for disc golf clubs and tourney players to step up and make donations of cash and or schwagg. The more we bring in, the more we can give!
This will be a very expensive trip, airfare, hotels, food! Food especially! You know how big Chandler is! Lets support those that represent us!

Best of luck with the event, everyone will be supporting a good cause in getting Chandler to the USDGC.
As far as adjectives to describe him though, I don't know about big, wouldn't you say he is more "Stout" or "Barrel Chested"? I think he might prefer these descriptors.

Keep us updated with information as you get it. I'll have a couple of things to donate and will hopefully get a chance to come up and play. Great cause helping the BIG man make it to USDGC.

So far, all of the WA Clubs that I've spoke with are completely on board with sponsoring! I'd like to keep this event on the FUN side of competitve, It is a fundraiser afterall. Im looking into different formats to go along with that. Anybody have suggestions of things they've done or seen?
I was thinking something along the lines of 1st round singles, then placing everybody in consecutive order and then playing second round doubles pairing first and last together.

That sounds really fun. As a side competition you could find your longest hole, put a big sandwich on top of the basket and have Chan and Dion throw for closest to pin and winner gets the sandwich. :shooting:

Could add to that idea, a side competition between Chanman and Ronthewhip that they win gift cards to various food joints that they can use during their usdgc trip.... add a little fun to both the competition plus the meals during usdgc, they gonna eat one way or another, and we are fundraising for them, might as well make it fun and memorable... anyways back to work for me guys...

We haven't met. We came close once - at the BSF last year. You were spotting on one of the holes and Bob pointed you out to me, but I didn't have a chance to make it over there. Hopefully by the time we meet the barrel will be gone (but I've been saying that for years).

hey Chris, Up at the City Cup we held a CTP contest to raise a few bucks and we raised over $170 on the spot. I was going to give it to Chandler but thought somone might take it from him or that he would comingle it with all the other dough he took home from Four Mound. The INWS will write you a check for the amount and mail it off as soon as I talk to you about a mailing address. Yours, Gordy:trophy:

UPDATE:
I'm not sure how they found out, :whistler:but the Center for Human Aging is now investigating the unusual prowess of one "young" Spencer Stuart. Apparently they believe he may not be an 11 year old "kid", but rather that he may be a, what you call, "little people". He actually is believed to be much older than he appears. Seems a little shady to me that this "little person" is passing himself off as a KID just to play Juniors and challenge "old" men just so he can beat them. (We'll see about that!)
I also just recieved a phone call, and declined comment, concerning possible steroid use by young Mr. Stuart. :nono:I declined comment but after doing a bit of research I have to question the validity of Stuarts claim that he is NOT using.:cop: Watch the video posted elsewhere on the Forums and see for yourself. He did APPEAR to be quite small in the video, but then look at how much bulkier he was at the Beaver State Fling and then the Bad Monkey Open. At the rate he going by next year he will be as big as ChanMan.
I feel I have been suckered in for this weekend by a coniving, twisted, diabolical, little (getting bigger) person.
Now, I'm not saying I'm scared.........just saying............

Well things aren't always as they seem, are they Bob?
For example, we know the loveable "Over the Hill Bob" as a tiny, shrunken, wrinkled, bald, old guy who, for lack of serious compention in the Legends division has turned to the under 13 division. Bob has forgone the steroids, instead choosing to ravage his body with a decades long regimen of tabacco, sausage gravy, and ranch-flavored corn nuts.
Hmmm.. Maybe things are as they seem. :chinscratch:
Good luck this weekend. Teach those kiddos a thing or three. Remember: Old age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill.

I had a blast hanging out with the Oily Crew again.
It was an honor to get to witness OTHB and Spencer's little "Thrilla in Manila." They were neck and neck for the first 12 holes or so, with lead changes here and there but then Bob, realizing he didn't want to go down in NWDGN history as the mean old salt that beat up on a little guy, let a few "get away from him" and the rest is history.
Those teepads you guys installed are fabulous. Keep up the good work in Oly, so we can steal all your ideas for the rising Seattle organization.
Thanks, Chris and crew!

Oh, and the highlight of the round for me was when Doug 3-putted to turn a birdie into a bogey.
Spencer informed us that that is called a "Doogie" :bowing:

Well Crap, I now realize I misspelled the last name, Stewart should have been Stuart. In my own defense I have never seen your guys full name spelled out so I just went with the common spelling. I'm glad everything turned out well at the tourney and you all had a great time. I am sure Chandler will be happy with the money raised. The boy needs a lot of food so it will go to a good cause on his journey

Thanks to Chandler and team Oly, it is very generous of you guys to use some of the money you raised to help us out. I am happy Chandler is going to get to play the USDGC, I think he will do very well out there. Great to see the support from everybody at his fundraiser event, thanks to everyone who has donated.
