I've laid awake many a nights wondering what it would be like to have influence at the Innova Factory or Discraft Factory. What kind of discs in various plastics would I make? What would you make?
Elite Z Eagle
Champion Predator
Elite Z Classic Roc
Champion XD
And so many more...but I'll let you guys pick some as well.

A champion TeeRex that flies like the 1st Star one that I ever bought. Hell, I'd even be happy with a Star TeeRex that flies like my first one. I agree with the Champion XD (because the Star one is NOTHING like the DX version). Maybe even Pro would work. I'd also like an Elite Z Avenger SS. Can't really think of much more than that...

I'm pretty sure they make Pro D Comets - in fact, I think my dad just ordered himself one. I got him hooked on disc golf this weekend (as I did with my brother and his wife).
I will search again for the Z Avenger SS's. I swore it was just in ESP and FLX. Also, that CE Teerex would be AWESOME.

Nope, just X and ESP.
But they do indeed make Z Avengers: http://www.discgolfcenter.com/main_displayProduct.php?p=73&PPQT1=45

I'd start by ordering up some Rocs made from Gateway S plastic. I'd also take a Wizard in Cryztal.

They make Z avengers, no SS's though. They DO however, make the SS in Cryztal, only available as CFR discs of course, though.
I agree on the Gateway S for discs across the board, particularly the superglow plastic.
I'd also like to see star/champ gazelles--that fly like DX gazelles, that is.

Ok. Per Discraft's site:
Avenger SS's: Only available in ESP and FLX
The original Avengers: Available in X, Z, ESP, and FLX
Also, the Comet is only available in X and a limited run ESP
Hopefully this clears up any confusion. :headbang:

Are they CryZtal Z Avenger SS's or are they Cryztal ESP or FLX discs? Not that I have what you're looking for necessarily. However, I do have a really light KC (champion) Aviar, (it is marked with my contact info, though). :o

The thought of them makes me happy. Unfortunately, I am more or less new to the sport, so I don't have a bunch of unmarked discs that I got for scrip or anything. And I have very little that would be considered collectible.

I love my Star Light Boss, the combination of lighter weight with high stability makes it a great disc to throw.
I wish Dave would make some Star Light Destroyers, and Xcalibers.
I can only imagine how far I could toss an Xcal if were maybe 10 grams lighter, like around 164 grams, but super stable.
Star plastic is by far my favorite,if there was only one plastic out there, this would be my choice.
I do like Elite Z plastic better than Champion, I could see a couple of fun discs from Innova in Elite Z, like a Gazelle, or an Eagle maybe.

I asked Discraft if they'd ever make a Z Pulse and they I don't believe the demand is sufficient. Which is too bad since it is one of my favorite drivers and the Z plastic is the best plastic ever. I also think that the Z plastic would look sweet with the Pulse mold, the same way the champ monarch looks cool when the light gets refracted through the groove.

I'd have to disagree with that, it seems when you play any sport competitively for a long period of time, you'll figure out the nuances in the equipment.
Billiards is the only sport I've played for a long time where the equipment (balls anyway) still seem consistent. Tennis balls, tennis rackets, soccer balls, curling rocks all have variation in the way they fly/move even though they are "branded" as the same product.

Tell Discraft there is one more who wants a Z Pulse! I would buy at least five of them like I did the Stalker. I'm with you Dion the Pulse is awesome, now I just need to learn to throw it more than 300 feet! :headbang:

I'm a beliver of the Ringer, I'd love to have any other type of plastic for upshots and drives. I think a Z Ringer would be amazing, but I'd settle for ESP or Elite X. The D plastic wears in far too quickly for the amount of use I put it through.

I totally agree with that. Although my beat pro-d ringer is definitely my goto for turnover approaches in the wind. Keep a beat one, a slightly beat one and a new one. Slight beat for straight, super beat for turnover and new for hyzer.
This putter replaced my FLX Challenger and my soft apx. The only putter I now use. Thank you Discraft! :trophy:

Right, and some baseballs are more tightly wound than others and fly farther.
I didn't say that there was zero variation in the equipment of other sports, just that we have more variation than others.
Given two new tennis balls and the same power and spin on them, they will both go in roughly the same direction. One may have more spring than the other, but one won't go left and one won't go right.
On the other hand, I have a new Star Valkyrie that is 0 turn stable that goes straight and finishes left with a lot of power, when that same power will turn over a different brand new Star Valkyrie (same weight) quite a bit and fades straight or even right. The lines are completely different.

I really love the Innova discs I love. It's why it hurts so bad to lose one. Because it was the one you use. You grumble, get out the back-up, and cuss it because it's not the one you just lost. I stick with Innova for my longer drivers because I can drive them farther than the other companies' molds. I've never bought three or four new identical weight and mold drivers and had two of them be the same. And as far as their break-ins, they seem to shake out differently too. The good ones are gold, and the rest eventually get into the Club Mud box.

Yeah, it's true that every company discs will have issues with being constant in their ratings vs what they actually do in play. The perpetual problem with Innova is they don't change their ratings for their discs in different plastics even though anyone who has played for any time at all knows they are different.
At least Discraft changes the rating depending on the plastic being used.
Parks
December 10th, 2009, 06:47 PM
That's not really the issue.
The issue is that the same mold in the same plastic, same weight, and even same run can fly strikingly different from disc to disc, for all manufacturers.
One of the reasons I'm looking forward to Vibram's full on commitment to the market is because they have the ability to mold in a highly uniform manner.
