Wii Sports Resort, just released last week, has a disc golf elelment to it.
Stay away if you're looking for authenticity, but the game looks pretty cool overall and adding disc golf is just a bonus.
Cons: For some reason, there are no baskets. You just have to land in a ~10m circle (which does make putting infinitely easier. The layout is a ball-golf course, so once you get the hang of throwing it is not particularly tough. There are only three discs (driver, mid-range, putter) and they don't really behave like you would expect other than the driver is the longest, midrange next, etc. The discs are not realistic - no stability, won't come out of an anny, etc..
Pros: More mainstream exposure to disc golf, baby! The game overall looks pretty cool.
This game uses the new motion plus control (like the TW game).

Does it require a different controller?

Just the Motion Plus accessory that attaches to the regular Wiimote. One is included with the game.

I'm new to disc golf, so I'll ask my video gaming friends if they own or have heard of this game. Sounds like it would be worth a try for a beginner like me, even though it's not very accurate as you say.
I remember that the tennis games I've played were minimal too. You just can't emulate the way the ball moves, with spin and speed taken into consideration. But it still makes for fun group play.

Yeah - all of the dg games are good if you accept them for what they are - a fun diversion. Don't expect any more than that and you won't be disappointed. I am hopeful for the PDGA game in development, however.

Its a pretty cool game, the control is pretty sensitive. Although the discs clearly are based off of longer flying frisbees, not discs (i.e. no hyzer, flex). I actually like the 10m ring - makes the long runs more exciting because you can put it in further away.

Wii Disc Golf games i own:
Monkey Ballz - (interesting b/c they have a direct line to throw with bananas and you get more points if you follow that path)
Wii Beach Sports - (you get to alter your cartoony character)
Tiger Woods - (very accurate. the disc follows from sidearm to forehand)
Wii Vacation - (single player. too easy. when you hit a couples birdies, which you will on every hole, it boost up your power to where you are able to control the disc in flight)
...haven't tried sports resort yet. preordered it at hollywood video yet they somehow sold my copy.

Hehe, just watched this review on my lunch break. For anyone who hasn't seen the Zero Punctuation reviews before, Yahtzee, the reviewer, is known for ripping games a new one with his scathing, yet hilarious reviews. The disc golf portion of the game actually is the only thing he didn't rip into, which I suppose is a dubious honor. Check it out here (NSFW!): http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/844-Wii-Sports-Resort

There is a version on Sports Resort and Tiger Woods. The Tiger Woods version is much much better.

is the disc golf on tiger woods available from the beginning or do you have to earn it?

I'm gonna have to disagree. Tiger Wood's has a lot of courses, but I didn't find the flight of the disc very consistent. I would putt, and hit the top of the basket at 5 or 10 feet and constantly make my shots at 30- 50 feet. Maybe I need to try it again.

I'm pretty sure it's available from the beginning and you just have to earn the courses

I disagree too. The TW10 version LOOKS better, but the Resort version is more fun.

Have you tried the Sports Resort Version?
Also if you throw your short putts like you would a vertical straddle push putt or horseshoe toss it's pretty easy to make them (with a little touch).

One of my problems with the TW10 disc golf game is that I NEVER miss a putt. From 20 yards in, it's a gimme.

Admittedly I didn't try the Resort version. I watched my friend play it and was thoroughly unimpressed. I played the Tiger Woods version for nine holes and almost bought the game the next day. I didn't pull the trigger though cause I thought it may take away from the limited practice time I get playing real golf.
Plus Tiger Woods is such a stand up guy I have a hard time not buying anything he endorses!
