There is no info online. It is an invite only event. In the beginning it was an open event but grew too big after just a couple of years. It is a fun fun tourney though, with two rounds at eh beautiful Lucky Mud, lunch, camping, and fun fun fun.

Ol' Bob has minimal organizational skills, and so, handles nothing official. I have a sun, moon, and a crapload of planets in Pisces. Them fish never know which way to go. No one should feel slighted if I don't think of them. When someone asks me important social stuff, I panic. My job is to stay here and forget people's names, and I'm good at it.

Hi Bob it's me, Bob! Remember me? If you could make up name tags for everybody this weekend and have them line up in the lower field, in single file, women first, then men, alphabetically (reverse order), between 7:36 and 8:17 have them print, then write their names, on tags 3"x5" with red border and balloons in the upper left hand corner, I think that might help. You're on it, right?

Team Oly will be in the house! Well actually in the Tent, but we will be there! This would have been four years in a row, but last year my fiance wouldn't reschedule the wedding! I almost didn't get married!!!!JK
Bummer to hear there's not going to be dinner served after Friday doubles! Nothing better than a huge plate of spaghetti after Dubs!

If I had anything to do with Darr getting in, I have no idea what that was. If I did, I don't remember. I'm not in charge of anyone getting in. I won't be put into a position of choosing who does or doesn't get in. Tell you what, there have been three out of the past four Saturdays and Sundays when not a single DGer showed up here. If the Burner is the only time anyone comes up here to play, then why do I do this? I do this for all of you, and not for just one weekend a year. I'm old and wearing out, so get it while you can. If I, or my tractor, craps out, then this is once again, just another hay field, until another volunteer shows up. I personally prefer something below the tournament pace. If this week could be spread out over the year, that would suit me fine. Many folks like the place because it's quiet and not crowded.

We will be there. In fact I am pretty sure that Zippyboy is already there since he left our house at 8 this morning. He is there to work and make sure that everything is ready for Saturday.
Ol' Bob I am sorry we have not made it out there more this summer, it has been crazy busy and I know how much Zippyboy misses his time at the Mud.

Trying to work fast and get out of work early. Had a slight misfire going on this morning and found a bad wire. New spark plugs and wires on, now it's off to the store for beer and ice. Oh, and I guess I should get some food too.
Have the clear glow groove Wizards as well! Too bad the rendevous with Eric went longer than expected and I didn't have time to make brownies...

Dang it. I wanted brownies ;)
Now on a much worse note.
I-5 north bound at Kalama was closed until a few minutes ago, there will be some bad traffic, hopefully it will be clear before everyone makes it that far.

This just posted on my square people's BBS:
The FernBurner is over. That's our annual tournament. The mob scene is over and they're all gone back to Seattle, Portland, and the rest of the world. I sucked at disc golf, as I always do in our tourny. It was supposed to get really hot here, but it never did, though it's trying right now. But man, I had a great time with all the DGers. The NFH never did anything much (for the first time), and nobody brought their dogs (also for the first time). I hope everyone else enjoyed the weekend as much as I did.
I want to thank Cris Graham for saving me from continued agony of defeat in the Sunday Doubles. Thanks to everyone for helping out, and for just coming here to make what I do have more meaning. I guess I'll see you over on the "Lost Discs" thread soon.
Okay, going downstairs to sober up.

Bob, what a great weekend! Good to see you again, and all of the other great people that came out this weekend. What a killer lunch and my gawdddddd the dinner was incredible! A big thank you goes out to YOU for all the hard work you put in. It IS appreciated! A big thanks to our hosts, Jessica and Sunrise, those who worked so hard on food preperation, the crew that came out to prep the course, (which was awesome) and to Adam and Sarah for once again providing one of the best disc golfing experiences anywhere. :trophy: As for the heat............It may not have been record breaking BUT it was freaking hot out there Saturday. I felt pretty good about both rounds with some good drives, some good upshots, and SOME good putts. Now if I could just put them together in the same round.
Thanks again to all that had anything to do with the event.

Everybody who attended now knows (if they didn't already) just how awesome the Fernburner is. I don't know if things could have turned out better, as far as the overall experience goes. I was lucky enough to arrive fairly early Thursday morning, to offer whatever assistance was needed. Ol' Bob and I got all the firewood for the campsite gathered, and took care of other minor course maintenance items. Then, in the late afternoon, we set out to play a round with Adam, Sara, Mick, Tim, and Trevor.
In a round that must have taken approximately FOUR HOURS, I was able to walk away with Ol' Bob's #1 Lucky Mud tag - after shooting some of the best golf out there that I ever have. We then had dinner together, and got camp set up.
The next day, everyone was up early to get all the course looking its best. Adam and Sara had a list, and Adam was great at delegating stuff to be done. I rolled the Thing all over the course, helping Mick and Tim move baskets, set up the mini course, post tee signs, move garbage cans, etc. After all was said and done, doubles seemed to go off fairly well (thank God I didn't have to throw), and everyone eventually got settled in for the night.
Saturday brought some of the best disc weather ever! And it sounded like it brought out some of the awesome discing as well. I personally shot my best round ever out there (+1) in the first round, and managed to place higher in a tourney than I had ever placed before (3rd). I was also able to help double-check scorecards, and get other things taken care of for Adam and Sara. But the highlight was presenting Ol' Bob and Jessica the money we raised with the bag tags. Thank you Adam and Sara for giving me a few minutes to talk before the awards. I appreciated it.
It was great to see so many people again - and see so many people up at the Mud. I had a blast, and I am already looking forward to next year!

Screw next year... let's play it again next week! A great time as always. I am so tired - even after sleeping for 9+ hours last night - this is all I have to say.

Things I learned at the Fernburner:
Being on the lead card(intermediate) in the second round is awesome but the look on Sam's face was priceless and I'll never forget it.
Cashing, even if it is last cash, is super awesome.
If you happen to get on the bogey train, make sure it is not the express. Seven bogies in a row, in the open after kicking butt in the woods, is no fun. No stops were in sight and the conductor would not let me off. :pullhair:
I am a much better golfer at night. Maybe it's because I can't see the trees to hit them.
Darr is a bagger!!!
When given the option of playing a full round on Sunday(with a 9am tee time that turns to 11am) or a 9 hole round of mini, go with the mini.

I forgot to especially thank Mick for the help with the devils club removal on the new 14th. He just went at it in a straight no fear, wild animal, approach and did the equivalent of what I'd done in over an hour in what seemed like no time, uprooting it with extreme prejudice. Gotta love how he does everything with a smile.
As for all the having fun, it was lucky that the No Having Fun county ordinance was not enforced. I even had me some fun too. I played pretty much every round that came by from Thursday to Sunday (and lived!). I drank more than I should have but survived by drinking enough water as I sucked down that 8.2% Vortex IPA by the pint.
Okay, remember to keep showing up now and then during the rest of the year.

I think it'd be easier to divide by zero than have a bad time at the 'Burner. Once again, great job, Adam and Sara, it was a stellar weekend. Big thanks go out to Sunrise and Jessica for making the Mud available to us heathens each year; to Ol' Bob for keeping it so damn nice there; and to all the people that chipped in to make it that much better (with an extra tip of the hat to Mick for taking out that devil's club). And especially to those who spent all the time to cook up the heaps of delicious food--it was awfully hard not to get greedy with that spread.
Also, both rounds on Saturday were tons of fun, but the second round was especially so. Thanks to Aaron, Sam, Gilby and Barrett for providing me one of the most enjoyable rounds in recent memory--lots of laughter and great golf to watch. (Passing around the "big putt" baton on Hole 1 was a nice highlight) :D
And, I guess it'll be more appropriate when final scores are posted, but I just gotta say "TERRACE CREEK!"

I also had a lot of fun that second round, Tim. I hit the first putt on #1 and thought I would be picking up a stroke or two on some folks. Nope. 3 other birdies and a par, I believe - all with the card chasing us watching. Fun stuff that.

One of the best tournament aces I have ever seen. Came out of his hand on a straight line at the bucket. Dipped out of sight for just a second and then skipped up and buried itself in the heart of the chains.

Seriously, though... you TC guys need to get down to Oregon more. I really enjoyed birdying with you lot.

Geeezo, 91 degrees out there (and calm). I'm in here wishing I had more AC capacity. We all hit it just right on the heater schedule. The inn has an elder-hostel group this week with grannies and their 12 year old grandsons. I'm spozedta teach 'em how to huk on Wednesday when it's gonna be 97. That should be fun. I know, I'll just bring 'em all in and give 'em a pint or three of Vortex and put the little angels down for their afternoon naps.

On behalf of the Inn at Lucky Mud I would like to thank all those who helped make this year's Fernburner the biggest and best yet. We couldn't have asked for better weather (maybe 5 degrees cooler) and I think the course played as well as it ever has. A special thanks goes out to Doug Lostrom who was BBQ overlord for over 70 lbs of meat. Also big thanks to Mick, both Tims, Jub, Tina, Mitch, Kara and Kye, Ginger, and everyone else who pitched in during and leading up to the event.
There was some great golf played over the weekend. Congrats to all those who came away with some glass (Thanks Treasure, you too Chris!), and to all those who placed, and to everyone else that managed to have a kick ass time out there.

Thursday and I finally got the four moved baskets back on the standard positions. Been really quiet. The spilled spaghetti sauce got licked up by the raccoons and it's hard to tell anything happened here out of the ordinary.
Yup, really quiet. I don't like it. It's too quiet, I tells ya. http://flyingdisk.com/img/war-in-the-jungle.jpg

I love how the deer knocked the pan right off the stove! Classic!
What a time I had at this tourney! Why did I wait so long to attend?!?!:headbang::headbang::headbang:
Thanks to Adam & Sarah for an amazing time. Somebody must know that the way to my heart is through my stomach. O-M-G. This sets the bar for tourney accoutrement. And Fosbury himself would be hard pressed to jump higher. Food Coma after amazing dg. What more can you ask for?:bowing:
I had 2 great rounds with Karl & Dave P. I will gladly play anywhere anytime with these gentlemen. Solid play all weekend and I barely edged it out by 1 stroke. And I hit the pole in the air on the last hole of the tourney. It just doesn't get any closer than that. Thanks to you both.
The course was in incredible shape for the tourney. Thanks to Ol Bob and everyone who went out and made the course better for us all. I don't even know what Devil's Club is, and I don't think I want to know. I was amazed that I could play the 'Back 12' so much better than I fared on the "Front 9'. I have to play this course more than once a year.

Devils Club is just what it sounds like, the stalks are completely covered in thorns that have barbs on the end so you can't get them out. I am so glad that stuff is out of there, I did see a few little ones but I know that they will be swiftly taken care of when they get big enough to see over the ferns.

I'm not for eradicating the devil's club. It just needs to be off the course proper. The way I see it, there's plenty of space for it to continue on, being a bane to hunters and loggers. I don't want to win the War Against Nature or even be a mercenary in it. The command to "subdue the earth" is what most undermines any gang who follows it. Bad mojo. None of us walks without bending a blade of grass. I'll go so far as to nick the bark of a tree from time to time. Anyway, the devil's club just doesn't play well with others. I hear it has medicinal properties. Maybe that thorn that's been stuck in my knuckle for over four years is keeping me alive.

I don't know, I've never been able to stay between the lines. I value my anarchy, but I'll try not to let it kill me or hurt others. People who believe it's dangerous, need to get outside the lines themselves once in a while. They can draw their own lines too tightly. Then, out of that self-imposed constraint, they'll want to pinch down everyone's freedom. The mark of the Euro-barbarians is their fear of one thing beyond all others: wild people. Must be something about that "original sin" myth.
Now where were we?

Funny thing, Jub: I just did a search and it seems it's used for arthritis and hypoglycemia, two issues I have.

You know what was the best thing about the 'Burner? The addition of the picnic table on hole 9. That thing just plain rocked!
