There isn't a pro out there with anywhere near that many aces that I know of? What is he doing different? I guess it could just be he is dead on accurate. it just seems weird to me.

He primarily plays one course and certain holes over and over and over again (easily over 10,000 times by now) with a camera trained on them. An obsession.

Set up camera, throw disc after disc at basket, post video on YouTube. That's not really disc golf....or is it?

Cubby is a big loser . All his aces are at like 170 to 250 feet. Anyone throws a hole a hundred times in one sitting and they will hit an ace. Bullshite

I'm gonna buy 100 Wasps and bring them to Horning's Highland #13 so I can film myself getting an ace too!

Why #13? I would think #8 would be far easier.
By the by... met someone the other night who was telling me about his buddy's first three aces - holes 5, 6 and 7 on the highland course... all in a row just like 2 weeks ago.

Wow. Not the three easiest holes on the course to ace.

I know. I was a little stunned to hear it.

I think #8 is the easiest BIRDIE on the course, but somehow the tree branches get in the way of an ace run for me; I always send it in low just to be safe. But I've hit metal three times on #13, even though it's blind.

I figured it had to be something like he was sitting there tossing at a basket. I don't count an ace unless it is my first toss and it has to be in a game, mulligans don't count. But that is just me.

Not just you... I think that's how most of us would define an ace.

Hell, next time the wind isn't blowing I'll take a stack of putters out to Benson. I could probably pass Cubby up in a weekend. :rolleyes2:

A guy I know got an Ace on hole 5 at Adventist. We had to tell him holes within putting range are not aces hehe

I'm pretty sure Cubby retires all of his ace discs, also. There's a video of him on youtube going through ALL of his ace discs. A lot of CE plastic just hanging around.

It doesn't have to be in a complete round, in my opinion. If you are playing some holes as you would a normal round and hit an ace, it doesn't stop being an ace if you have to leave the course or get injured, right? First drive from tee to basket - it goes in it is an ace. I don't care if that is the only hole you play in your life.
Nice signature, J. You like mine? :D

Love it, and that anteater, awesome. I just might be in the pier area tonight, I'll look for you on the course is so (oh did I mention I shot -5 there last night). Headed to Whistlers tomorrow, oh yea

-5 is smoking hot, J. Ties my PB there, too.
I think today is the day they are moving all of the baskets. I hope to get another -5 but will be happy around even, really.

Sam, first thing that popped into my mind when I read JMan's sig was the Modest Mouse song. Then I saw it in your sig :D
Back on topic. Don't hate on Cubby, he's doing what he loves and filming it. Who cares?
Would you guys knock me for filming myself banging Brian's mom?
JMan
July 9th, 2009, 01:23 PM
heck no Parks, let me know if you need a gapher for the shoot and I'll be there.
On other matters, I'll be in Thpokane the first week of Aug. Lets hook up for Downriver round, or maybe you could show me round 4Mound.

For all you guys who roll your eyes at all the Cubby videos, think of how stupid he must have felt when he saw this-

Ha ha,
That's sweet Chuck thanks for sharing. The video was sad but the comments were well worth reading. I find it funny the only thing Cubby defended was the music and not the fact that his "aces" are staged. Also, as a musician I'm fully aware that once you post anything it's no longer yours. Unless he got copyright protection that music is fair game :)

Wrong, wrong, wrong.
As of April 1, 1989, the laws for copyrighting things completely changed. Basically, the law now states that once you create something, it is automatically protected as yours.

Yes and no,
Especially in music. Unless you apply for the copyright protection you're at serious risk of losing this battle. You can't alter somebody's work and thus "create" you're own. So if he did actually compose that song he would need to protect it otherwise a slight altering would make it fair game under your notion. This is way off the topic I just commented cause I found it funny. If you'd like to discuss it further let's not sabotage a thread :)
Sam

Even in music, it is the same. All a notice of copyright does is strengthen the protection and give the author the ability to sue. Think Queen/David Bowie vs. Vanilla Ice. Had they wanted to, they could have sued the crap out of him and they would have won. Then they would be the ones on the loser TV shows about washed up stars instead of him.
