New idea for me, but wondering if people would be interested in trading new, slighty used, and used plastic before/after rose city open at pier????

I would have NO problem with this at all! I have much barely thrown plastic that could use a new home...

This is a great idea which just needs a leader to implement. I have hundreds of used discs to swap. I just don't have time to organize the swap meet.

What would the leader of this swap meet do? Just announce that people should bring their used plastic to Pier before the awards ceremony so that discs can be traded amongst those that choose to bring their spare plastic?

There is also going to be a swap at the Chick Flick so if you have any lower weight plastic that is a good place to trade it.

What would the leader of this swap meet do?
Lead. Any good event requires direction. Otherwise, all you have is chaos.

Let's do this - right before awards on Sunday. Love it and will bring out a bunch of new/used plastic that is just collecting dust.

Gawain, I'm not trying to be obtuse, but what direction is needed? If we get together somewhere *near* where the awards will be held, and have our used plastic in tow, I can't figure out what else would need to be done. If I am missing something, please let me know. Otherwise, I figure just the congregation would happen.

I think what he means is someone to take the reigns, make an announcement before the last round so that people will remember and also announce that the swap will be starting now over at that picnic table over there. He wasn't saying that there is a lot of direction needed just someone to be a vocal about the event.

If there is one thing I can do well, its be LOUD. I guess that would make me the leader of this thing? :chinscratch: This might be regretted by some....

I know! By the way, that new Stalker is pretty sweet. I was looking for a striaght fairway driver, and now I have one. Next time we meet up for a round, I'll let you toss mine, if you don't already have one by then...

It is on the list of discs to try, what weight is yours? How does it compare to that sweet 2nd first run and your blue CryZtal Buzzz?
zippyboy

I think its 174g. As far as how they compare to the Buzzz, its a little longer than those, but shorter than my Avenger SS. Exactly what I was hoping for in a disc. Thank you, Discraft!!!

sounds fun. One of the things I have loved about Discraft for some time is that they understand that us non-cannon arms what discs that fly well and are controllable out of the box. Thank you Discraft indeed! I wonder if I can pick one up before our trek to Whistlers tomorrow, more than likely :wink2:

So yeah... I think I have some Discraft to trade. I don't throw any of it because I think Innova makes a finer product... but we're not having one of those conversations today, are we? :D

No, especially because you're wrong. :nahnah:
That being said, I will happily trade my unsed Innova discs for your unused Discraft discs. Hopefully it will be mutually beneficial.

I'm taking my last innovaland disc (a custom dyed orc) to Whistlers, see if she'll make it accross the river...

If loving you makes me wrong...
No.... wait. Wrong line.

Well... it'd be beneficial to me. I'd be getting Innova. :kissflowers:

Planning and direction are what separate great events from the others. If you have no ideas about how to make a great swap meet, then perhaps we need to continue to search for a Swap Meet Director. A swap meet is a great idea that I have seen tried before, but I would not say I have ever seen one succeed - usually due to lack of planning and direction.

G, you're one of my favorite people, but I still don't know what in the hell you're talking about! I have never been to a disc golf swap meet. Therefore, I have not seen one that is run well, or one that has failed. If you have some insight as to how this should be run, let us know. If not, we'll probably fail anyway, so really, what is lost in the process?
Good God man, give me something to work with here! :biggrin2:

Zippy, Let's discuss this in person. I'm saving my fingers for the tournament. For the record, I am IN FAVOR of a swap meet; I have numerous used discs to trade, and I will bring them. What I am trying to remind us is that like anything, the reward reaped will be directly proportional to the effort expended.

I've never seen a Disc Golf Swap Meet, but I have seen a game swap meet go off successfully.
Basically, what the person in charge needs to do is 1) set aside an area for it. 2) announce it's going to start 3) allow the people that want to trade have a spot in the area in question. 4) expect it to get a bit noisy as people try to trade and 5) the person in charge may be required to referree.
Where it starts to get tricky is the trading part. What if someone has something you want, but you don't have something they want? I think the solution they came up with was that the seller could ask an actual price instead of taking something in trade. It seemed like most people went away pretty happy....
I think Amy should help you Mitch. Then we'll have someone experienced running it at the Chick Flick!
