Course was minibike free today.
Recent trimming on the first few holes makes things easier.
Easiest places to loose a disc right now are 12 left,15 and 17. Extra attention is required here.
More flowers blooming, all benches and signs are intact.
Only a handfull of players out today.

After a couple three one day Parties. The front is ready to mow. Guy, Erik Illg, Chuck and I have spent time ringing all the trees so that it will speed up the mowing. Next week the back starts.

10 looks good, well trimmed. Nice job guys.
Lotsa snakes around 13 and 14, be careful when you reach down for your disc in deep weeds, you may come up with a squirming handfull.
Of course, if you can find enough to make a custom Garter snake disc bag, it might be worth some cash on EBay.

More work done yesterday. Erik Illg, Goosman, Jimmy and I spent time on 11-15. Now all we need is the Vermin to do his part.

I was the only person on the course at noon today.
Conditions are excellent, all the long grass has been trimmed, other than one patch on 18.
There is a large nest on the 18th fairway, paper wasp or hornet I think, either way it would be best to avoid it if you can.
It's about halfway down the fairway, on the north side, in a large bush. Not the bush with the nasty holly in it, but the one just before that one, on the same side.
BTW I left my 150 Dx Beast near the 18th basket, it's pink, if you run across it please PM me here. It's not buried, I just forgot to pick it up after using it for a marker.

I'll second Captain Jack. I played Seatac today and it has been mowed. Some of the holes look really good and some of them need a little work. As I recall 2 and 12 had been partially mowed only. 17 and 18 have not been mowed yet. The weather has been so hot that the grass is very dry and beat down so it's much more difficult to lose a disc than it was on those two holes that haven't been mowed. Other golfers at the course said that there are more than one wasp nest on the left side of 18. I didn't see any wasps.
The park was very quiet today at 1 PM. I saw about 5 disc golfers and about three people walking dogs. That's it! Apparently I always miss all the exciting stuff as I have played approximately 80 games a year at SeaTac for the last four years and have never felt threatened at any time.

When walking from #2 basket to #3 tee, there's one right over your head.
On the left side of #3 fairway way deep in all the bushes about half way to the basket. There may be more than one nest back in there!
On #18 fairway about half way to the basket there is a bush/tree in the middle of the fairway about six feet tall. Wasp Nest is 25 feet NNE from that bush.
There may be more but that's all I've seen or been informed of.

Also, there's a ground nest on hole one about 30 paces from the tee pad and about 15 paces to the left, just before the birch trees. A guy got stung a few times yesterday retrieving his disc that went short and left. Keep 'em on the fairway!

Confirmed. The nest on 18 is large and classic shaped.
Look for the oval gray ball about 12" across hanging from the bottom of a sturdy branch.
Snakes seemed to have disappeared, or got eaten.
Plums are still green, but the blackberries are just starting to get nice and big and plump and purple, I found some nice sweet ones near 18.

The course looks 100 times better than it did a month ago. Good work everybody. I see atleast one garter snake on the course every round and I got stung by a bee walking back on the path from the 18th basket to the 1st tee the about two thirds of the way there

Played today and the course is looking great! I liek! Moar please! ALL fairways have been mowed and most of them look better than they've ever looked. A couple of holes need "finish mowing". The big bad beehive on 18 has been "humanely relocated" (At least that's what I'm gonna claim). One item I just noticed today was that #13 basket has been vandalized. Several welds have been broken on the top chain support ring on the north side. One of the top chain support rods is completely broken off. It will need to be welded or at least zip-tyed before the Jet Wash.

I think the course is in its finest condition ever.
More like a real golf course than its ever been before.
The grass is short, the brush is cleared from the the fringe areas and all the nasty ankle twisting holes have been filled.
The bees are gone and the minibike gang was nowhere to be found.
The painted 10 meter circles, remaining from last weeks tournament, provide an excellent way to gauge putts, I almost feel intimidated by them though, like how could any fool miss a putt from inside of here.
As an added bonus, if you know where to look, the plums are sweet and delicious, and the blackberries are prodigious throughout the park.
Best tasting in my opinion are the ones between 16 basket and 17 tee.

You take that back! DG is way more "real" to me than that elitist stick 'n' ball 'n' cup game...

Uhhhhhhh, did I mention anything about ball golf ?
Go check. I'll wait here.
What I meant, in plain english for you short bus riders down there in Portland is , Seatac is usually a jungle, an overgrown, abandoned former suburban neighborhood, not a nice tidy park.
Navigation can require a compass, and spotters can be necessary in rainy seasons all the way up to the basket, so it's nice to see it look more like a park for a change. I still use courses like La Mirada in Cali as a model for what a "real" golf course should look like, and Seatac, although its not quite La Mirada, sure is looking good right now.

I thought La Mirada was poorly located in a overcrowded multi use park.

Course is dry and free from downed trees, other than just in front of the #18 teebox, about 50 feet, there is a temporary pond which blocks the whole fairway from one side to the other.
Ducks were swimming across the fairway like a carnival game. As long as you dont throw a worm burner here the course is very playable.
Word on the street is that Lakewood is pretty juicy right now, but this is unconfirmed, I went for the 40% off sale at Keiths, rather than playing a round there today.

I blew off all the tees today, the course is dry and in good shape, and now no slippy slippy, so have at it.
Still gotta say no to the plywood bench's though, the one on 14 is already starting to come apart, as I predicted, and the new one on 8 I'm sure will fall apart just as fast.
This is junk people, your not helping. If you cant make something out of pressure treated, that will last at least one season, then please, don't bother wasting your time. Plywood will not work outside.
If anyony knows whose adding these junk bench's to the course, please tell them to stop.
If I see them falling apart any more they're gonna be bonfire wood, I'm tired of litter on the course.
Speaking of litter, the cans are all full, as usual, and there is a lovely bag of dogshit hanging from the 17 tee sign. If anyone feels like doing something to help , please bring a trash bag when you play your next round here.
You dont even have to take it out of the park, simply leave it along the gravel road that runs through the middle of the park and the parks dept. will pick it up.
My thanks to anyone that helps out here.

The course is freshly mowed. All the trash buckets at the tee pads are empty. It looks better than ever. I would like to thank any and all who worked to make SeaTac Disc Golf Course look better than ever. Shout out to Chainbangerz as well. I noticed that there are several park users (non golfers) who collect and remove the aluminum cans from the tee pad garbage buckets. Considering local companies pay 40 cents/pound for aluminum cans, they are doing themselves and us a good service. I'm working on a new weatherproof bench for hole 16 (finally). Stay tuned...

Someone, a mystery carpenter, has constructed and installed a bench on Hole 16 before I could get there. Thank you so much and nice work. Looks good. Sooooooo, we put the new red bench on Hole 6 for everyone to enjoy. Jeff Smith has a 9' wooden cutting table at Portage Bay Cafe that they are getting rid of. Hmmm, wonder if it can be made into another SeaTac Disc Golf Course bench.

Saw the new bench, looks sweet! Apparently the bench making virus is spreading :jumpspin:
