Talked to a guy at Next Adventure yesterday as he was bringing out more discs. He said they just got about 2000 more discs in this week. They've added more rack space to accomodate the growth.

Sweet!! I'm thinking of heading there in the next couple of weeks.

Actually when Jeff Mittl and I spoke with Bryan last week he said that he was adding new lines of plastic from Millenium, Gateway and maybe Latitude 64.

He is also adding additional lines of plastic and models from Innova and Discraft.

I wonder if Next Adventure has "buy sell trade" disc recycling? Because I have several discs that are over 170g which I don't use it anymore, and I would like to trade or sell to Next Adventure for lighter discs. Also, I wonder if they take discs that have name/email/phone numbers on it? I am going to Next Adventure tomorrow to cash my BSF certificate at last!

They do buy and/or trade discs (as well as other equipment), and ink on the back is OK. The main reason I go there as often as I do (2-3 times a week) is to check out the used stock.

Eric and I just took in a bag full of discs we're not throwing anymore yesterday. We do this a couple of times a year and end up with about $60 in store credit. I normally cross out our phone numbers, but forgot about it yesterday. They just throw them in the bin, marked and all.

I did notice that they have a larger slection now, but if I'm being completely honest, I was a little disappointed in their 150 weight section. A whole bunch of Teebirds, and very little else in the way of drivers. They did have a handful of new R-Pro Bosses in the light weight class, but I imagine they'll go fast.

It comes and goes. I've seen a pretty good selection of 150 class there, but they do seem a little low now.

I was hoping to get some 150g discs especially Champion Valkyire but I hope to find several discs that are between 160 to 165g.

At the Stumptown meeting on Tuesday Brian reminded us that Next Adventure Scrip has an expiration date. So if you've got it . . . Use it or lose it!

That is why I am going tomorrow since I live in Rockaway Beach as I need to do some errands in Portland so I want to use my scrip before the expiration date!

My BSF script has a July 24th expiration date. Thanks though because I might not have checked it had I not seen this post. Guess I will have to get down there soon too.

I have a 150g Champ Valk I'd be willing to part with. It's in barely worn condition. Anything you want to trade for it?

Good luck. In my experience, those are the hardest to find at NA.

DiscGolfCenter.com usually has a good selection, though -- and free shipping.

My wife would like to see more 150 discs available as well. My recommendation is to let NA know what you are looking for and they will bring it in. NA is Oregon Disc Golf's biggest fan and anything we can do to partner with them and support them would be a very smart move. You can also talk to Jay at Huk and he may be able to bring in the types of plastic to NA that you are looking for. NA is the hand that feeds us, lets not bite it. Not trying to pick a fight, just reminding the community to support our biggest fan.

If you can't find good champ/star orcs there at around 170 it's cause I stopped in the other day and poached the best ones. :)

I certainly didn't mean my remark as a slight against NA at all... I appreciate everything they do - for our Chick Flick tourneys in particular. It was just an observation on my part, that with adding 2,000 discs to the inventory, the 150 section seemed weak. I've been there in the past when this was not the case, so I'm hoping that they're planning on ordering more. :)

Not trying to pick a fight, just reminding the community to support our biggest fan.I purchase from NA and from online dealers, and every once in a while from DGD on the rare occasion that I am out in that part of town. I don't think it's a slight against Next Adventure to shop elsewhere as well. Especially if NA doesn't always have what people are looking for. In their defense, they have come a lot closer over the years to having the kind of selection I'd like to choose from and their customer service in the disc department has gone from terrible a few years ago to generally helpful at the present time.

Also... If you're looking for something specific, say 150 class for example, ask an employee what else they can dig up for you out of the basement. Not all the stock is on the shelves.

I'll say first that I love Next Adventure, I've purchased snowboards and outdoor equipment there for my whole life, but if you're looking for the best selection of things like 150g discs or off brands I'd go out to Disc Golf Depot, I know he has 20-30 different 150g molds.

OR... you could go to Next Adventure and support a vendor interested in growing the sport and ask them to order what you are looking for. I am positive that they will.

I fully support NA and do my shopping there, however, I must mention that NA did say they would sponsor ODDGA and then went silent on us and have never reached out again which was sad because I really thought they would help out.
On another note, ODDGA does have discs for sale, and generally wayyyyy cheaper than you will ever find at the stores... But limited selection of discs...

Oh... if he would have only stuck to that he would have been golden. I can recount the numerous ways that he has sought to prevent the growth of the sport, however, and think that those far outweigh anything good he has ever done.

But sure... keep the rose-colored glasses on, folks. Who cares if new TDs and new vendors are being discouraged so that one person can keep what little profits in our sport exist, right? :rolleyes2:

What's the home course for Roc-away?

Lady Buzzz and her "Hat" play at Horning's Hideout when they can. I have plans to visit her in Rockaway Beach some time during this summer so I can "pop - in" on my Aunt (who supposedly live nearby there.)

Ha ha, good one Roc-away! There are no courses in North Oregon Coast! The closest course is Horning's Hideout which my man and I go there all the time as we can afford the gas prices. There is one or two courses in Coos(sp?) Bay which is about 4 hours drive south from Roc-away which I haven't got chance to try it but will do someday.

Can you rate it from 1(bad worn out) to 10(new)? I plan to shop around to find 150g Champ Valk first. What are you looking for? I will need to look up the discs that I store in the box.

Isn't Twin Rocks Friends Camp on Rockaway. Does anyone know anything about this course? http://twinrocks.org/rentals/recreation.asp

I e-mailed them, but they never responded to me.

Twin Rocks Friendship camp is a church campground and is rather friendly when you go in person, or at least it was when I went there 15 years in a row, but installed the baskets the year I stopped going, go figure... Keep calling them, and if they say go play, i suggest playing and then visiting both bigfoot statues up in the woods, a pleasurable hike.

I've been hoping for one in Astoria for years, so I can get in a round on my semimonthly town day. At Lucky Mud, we're less than an hour from the Astoria Bridge. How far is Roc-away from the bridge? As a retired motorcyclist, I know that 101 ain't always fun in the summertime.

You know... your paycheck is probably only good for 180 days. I know mine are. Should I get pissed at my employer for this, Jub, or should we realize that putting an expiration on these things is probably in the business' best interests?

Not to mention the club! It's nice to close the books on an event 30 days after it's over.

Paycheck vs scrip Sam Correct me if I am wrong but

Most employers don't charge an entry fee to show up for work! My check is good at any of employers or my bank nation wide not just one location. I can guarantee that the open players have cashed there checks.

Scrip Expiration dates like event dates, sign up dates, late fee dates etc should all be posted on the flyer Not as a side note after the awards and certainly not online 3 weeks later.

Bob, Yes it is good to close the books after an event but not at the AM players expense. By NOT having your major (only) scrip redemption vendor ONSITE at the event (again not some where else I have to go to get my winnings) also seem to be at the Am's expense. I guess the good news is if the club has not paid NA for all the scrip issued at BSF at least you don't have to wait for the refund check from them.

Additional thoughts
Exclusive scrip NA WIN, Club WIN, Players ?
No onsite redemption NA WIN, Club ?, Playes LOSS!
Getting people into store NA WIN, Club ? , Players LOSS!
Experation date NA WIN, Club WIN, Players LOSS

Exclusive scrip NA WIN, Club WIN, Players ?

Yes, NA wins, yes, club wins, Players? Might be less convenient, but, you do have an opportunity to get so much more for your scrip. Disc's, shoes, snowboard, already discounted items in store, ect ect.

No onsite redemption NA WIN, Club ?, Playes LOSS!

No onsite redemption? At the BSF, Huk Lab redeemed, Mando's redeemed, Sweet Plastic redeemed, and had Brody not broken his leg, Disc Golf Depot was going to redeem. NA (huge sponsor) Lose, Club win, Players WIN big time.

Getting people into store NA WIN, Club ? , Players LOSS!

Getting people into store is for sure a win for NA. As for the Club? Yes, we win too, we have a strong sponsor. Players? How do they lose by getting to redeem their scrip on supplies for their next disc golf camping trip? Maybe less convenient but again, for most area players NA is pretty centrally located.

Experation date NA WIN, Club WIN, Players LOSS

Yep, it helps NA, helps the club, but how do the players LOSE? By not being able to save scrip for a year or longer to buy higher ticket items? As an AM player, I am excited to see a business and club that are sponsoring events for my pleasure. If I can help out by being responsible and redeeming my scrip in a timely manner, then I am more than happy do that.

Remember Jub, that only about 4 months ago we as players and as a club, (Stumptown) found out that the original ORS staff was not doing the series this year. We have been left to figure it out and make sure the events are still run. We are not a perfect machine but we are trying. We don't have 5-6 years experience under our belt, nor do we have the physical inventory that is the result of years of doing it. I wish Stumptown could shell out several thousand dollars to buy an inventory of discs to have available but the reality is that we don't. I fully understand your concern for the AM players. I too am an AM and will as long as I play. (for me that's not as long as others) While many are still concerned for taking care of the PRO players, I personally am committed to making sure the AM's are taken care of as well.

Give me a call anytime Jub and we can discuss this or any other issue in more detail. I have an open mind and I want to make things better and am willing to listen to any logical ideas that will in fact make things better. Working together we can all have an impact on the sport and help in its growth.

Bob

If anyone has scrip that is expiring there are ways to "renew" the scrip if you have extenuating circumstances. PM me or go talk to someone at Next Adventure if this applies to you.
