I just wanted to mention this one last time. Mike Phillips and Jeff Mittl did an amazing job this year. Everyone knew the Oregon Series staff had set the bar extremely high and that even reaching that level was going to be a monumental task. These two not only reached the bar, but they cleared it with room to spare. The course looked incredible. The event was awesome. The payouts were record breaking. Every single person I talked to was in awe at the quality of this event.
Thank you for all your hard work guys.

Ditto on all of the above  This was my first Fling and I had an awesome time. I had a blast playing with the women's advanced masters women we all had a kick ass time :yay: Thanks to everyone who helped make this amazing event happen, and I can't wait for next year already.

I've never bees to, or been a part of a National Tour Event but when the best players in the world and officials from the PDGA tell you that this is the standard by which ALL NT events should be measured you HAVE to believe them. Jeff and Mike did an amazing job. "Chains" the movie crew had not planned to come to the Fling but being in Eugene and close by at the last minute decided on Thursday to come up and at least get a bit of footage from the Clinic. They came, they saw, and they stayed over for some action on Friday.
I could write a book on my experiences at the Fling but will just say that from start to finish this has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. And that's a lot of life!
To all of the people that signed on as volunteers for me:
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
My volunteer staff was just plain more than you can ask for. Did anyone notice how clean the course was each day? Steve McMahon, Christian Graham, and Chris Graham were out there every morning between 5:30 and 6:30 walking the course and picking up trash. With Tee Times, starting on time is soooo important. Having no experience with this kind of format I was a bit nervous. I asked Chris Graham to help me out and oversee the starters. I asked the starters to please be early and to be there Saturday, at Tournament Central at 6:30 a.m. I rolled into TC about 6:35 Saturday morning and Chris had already prepped the starters and they were heading to their respective starting stations. All players went out on time and the flow of the first round was off the hook. THANK YOU to ALL, and escpecially Chris Graham for being my lead on this. All of people that came out to help spot were incredible. Some of these people sat all day at various locations with not much of a break and came back the next day to do it all over again. You all ROCK. Thank you ALL so much! I do want to call out Jevon however. Anytime you need something brother just ask, I owe you. THANK YOU!
The person I MOST want to thank is my wife. I love you and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I have been gone a lot for the past several months with the planning of the event. She took a day off work on Friday and was out there with me at 6:30 every morning and worked all day. She did it all! Manned TC, ran erronds, helped with scoring, manned the Stumptown booth, watch both at the same time, checked in players, packed boxes, ect, ect,. She caddied on Sunday morning for a friend of disc golf that needed some help. My wife is my HERO.
Ok, enough of the book! Thank you to all that planeed, set up, and implemented this incredible event. As we were taking down TC last night we were talking about next year. Yep, the planning has begun.

Yesterday at the Fling was probably the best time I ever had playing this game, and I wasnt even playing. Caddying for Valerie Jenkins (planned for a few months) for the final round, and being on the card with Des Reading, Carrie Burlogar, and Liz Lopez is something I will never forget. How many times in your life do you get the chance to do that. Also J Man coming with us doing the live scoring was cool too. Having a good friend along for the round was nice. The only bad thing these ladies had to say about the event was the late posting of Rd 1 tee times. Other than that they were saying how smoothly things were running and how beautiful the course looked.

Ditto to what everyone posted above, and I couldn't agree no more!! Big KUDOS to BSF staff for their hard work to step in few months, and made it happen!! :trophy: It was my first experience playing at BSF, and I really enjoyed playing with those awesome ladies in FM1.

I have never seen Milo looks so nice. My hat is off to everyone involved especially the crew that groomed this course to perfection. When I was walking it each morning I couldn’t believe I was at Milo. GREAT JOB!!!! I hope we can keep it as clean as it has been. I had a fantastic time.:bowing:

I would like to thank all those involved in this event ,from the awesome volunteers to the people behind the curtain, and would like point out many of these people would have loved to play but for a myriad of reasons could not....they set aside their disappointment and spare time to make this event one that we as local golfers can be extremely proud of...I would also like to say that the last three years playing disc golf in Oregon has actually been the most fun I have had with a group of people in my life. What an awesome place we live in!I did win my division and got that Zoo Glass trophy I have dreamed of...I am stoked...but as I looked around I realized my true prize has been the journey to get here...you people rock!!...not sure I could have got that all out at the awards ceremony...thank you and I will see you on the course.....Tom Dooley ADV. Great job to Mike, Jeff, and all the volunteers who busted their ass throughout the weekend. Great work by the core team who stepped up months ago to organize and run this huge event... I'm not sure many people realize how many hours are spent to get that last 10% of perfection added to an event. I had a great time playing (finally!)... thanks to everyone who was on my cards for maintaining a fun, relaxed attitude.

along with the best part of the event was my funniest part of the weekend. Once the open men finished, the Open women had 2 holes to finish up. The mens gallery soon became the womens gallery. As they were finishing up on 18E I did notice a lot of faces I knew lookng at me as if saying "WTF is Trozzle doing caddying for Val". many of you may have not known the looks you were giving, but the looks I saw were epic.!!!!!

There's a lot I could say about this event, but I'll try to keep it short. All in all, absolutely stellar job by all involved. Mike and Jeff, you guys did great, everything was well organized and smooth flowing. People I'd talked to before that had played BSF's talked about backups along the way, but I don't recall any significant waiting at all throughout the weekend. Great job by the volunteers too. I know how tiring it can be to sit around and hang out for hours in the hot sun spotting the same hole (especially when the chunder rolls through), but there were always spotters on potentially troublesome holes. And definitely props to all the behind the scenes people that did stuff like mowing the fairways, painting 10m circles, marking OB, etc. Awesome, awesome player packs--the shirts were incredibly cool, and the caddy books were friggin' sweet! Big thanks to the sponsors too, seeing all those big Keen flags waving as I drove in, I knew I was headed to something special. And aside from all the tournament specific stuff, I want to thank all the Portland locals for giving an out of towner true hospitality (well, all except for that one Will guy). Thanks to EVERYONE involved in some way or another for this event, it was by far the most professional and well done tourney I've ever been to.

I want to thank Jeff, Mike and the rest of the BSF gang. I've only played one other tournament so I have no point of reference when it comes to how good a tournament is when compared to anther, but BSF ran smoothly and I had a great time playing these amazing courses.
Some highlights for me were (in no particular order):
-Lundy winning the MA1. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. Congrats! And that roar from the crowd at the awards ceremony that surpassed Climo's applause was memorable.
-Meeting Sam from this board in my 2nd round, and asking him, "Are you the Sam..." Sam interrupts, "...who has a big mouth on the internet? Yeah, that's me." Ha!
-Seeing the StumpTown hole from the fairway for the first time while the little white floaties gently moved through the air. Beautiful. I just stood there and soaked it in. Then I shanked my approach into the mess in the hillside on the left.
-Meeting some of the Pro's for the first time. Jeez, Avery is ginormous, right? And I'm not afraid to say it: Ken's ears are larger in person.
-Watching the "Champ" be the "Champ". Tournament record, right? That final round was awesome. I need to learn how to throw a roller.
-Watching Gabe, from my first round, throw accurate 400 ft thumber after thumber. He shot a 61 that round. Awesome, best AM round I witnessed all Tourney.
-Having one of my best drives of the tourney be right in front Matt Crider, who was lounging at the tee for 8W- it left my hand perfectly and split the 2 trees at the end of the fairway before the island. Matt says, "Whoa! He did that with a 2 finger grip?!?"
-My 4 birdies of the tournament- Holes 4W, 4E, 5E and 9E. The Genius hole was the best Birdie of the tourney for me.
-Meeting Gwillim and letting him know that his statement about Klimo not breaking top 5 comment probably kept a lot of people from making the Champ their fantasy pick.
-The player packs. WOW!
-Hanging out with Paul Wright. It was good to see him have to work for this win. Trailing by 1 stroke going into the final round is something he is not used to. Kudos Paul.
-Breaking the Top 15 in MA1. I went into this weekend thinking I would really like to get in the top half.
Thanks again to all involved, and thanks for having this forum for me to gush about my BSF experience. I hope to do it again next year.

ps. best BSF moment :chinscratch: without a doubt, getting to live score for the lead Women's card.

Rolling Rocs. Who would have thought you could do that?? And then to see Rico roll a putter 370 feet?!? I had to go out to Pier yesterday (must get ready for the RCO!) and try it myself. I actually had a putt at hole 1 on my first try! Subsequent rolling Rocs were not as successful but there's something to work on.
I had a great time in all three rounds and even more fun in the rounds where I just followed the lead Pro card around and flipped Climo some shit. The moment where he stepped up on to the 16E tee pad and I said to him, "Feldberg hit that middle tree." He turned and looked at me and said, "That doesn't mean I am going to" with a huge grin on his face. Then there was the 10 seconds of unbearable discomfort where I was thinking to myself, "If he hits that tree, I am so screwed." Of course, he pured the gap and we had a good laugh over it. Totally a nice guy who has seen it all and has some awesome stories to tell while waiting on the box.
Oh... and I would be remiss if I didn't publicly fling Micah Meeuwsen some crap. Who doesn't sign up for the ace pot? Rather... who doesn't sign up for the ace pot and then hits two aces in one round?! Telling Feldberg what happened, I asked him if he remembered the hole he aced. He said, "Micah didn't ace that one. He aced the easy one up on the hill." I looked at him and said, "Yep... he got that one... and he got the one you got a few years ago, too." He looks at me and says, "He got two aces in one round?" I responded, "Yep." He just flung his arms up in the air and walked away.
This was a fantastic weekend. I will be the first to admit that I had my concerns with fresh-faced TDs following up on the amazing job that had been done in years past. Not only were my concerns wiped out of my head almost as soon as I arrived but I found myself continuously surprised time and time again at some little piece of awesomeness that I wasn't expecting.
Thank you to everyone involved and everyone I played with and everyone who showed up to watch and cheer the competition on. This will go down as one of the best tournaments I have ever attended and makes me completely jones for some more tournament golf right now!

This was truly a great event! I've never seen so many people working so hard to make sure everything went smoothly.
A few of my favorite memories:
1) Murray the Brit hitting Climo up for grip advice during the round and Climo showing him how he grips. Freakin' cool!
2) Steve Rico throwing a 380 ft roller with his putter. Unreal.
3) watching Des Reading throw her up shots during the clinic. Wow. We could all learn from watching her.
4) Watching Val Jenkins crush a huge drive on 1w.
5) getting to carry the lead card score sign! That was awesome. Didn't know disc golf could be played like that.
I want to thank Bob Cabal for talking me into volunteering. It was a great experience. But damn, I was tired yesterday. More than happy to do it again though. Sign me up for next year.

Pretty cool, John. When Climo walked up to you and pointed at his score and said, "That's a tournament record for me" my jaw dropped. How many thousands of tournaments has the guy played and he set his personal best at our course?! How cool is that? :D

This was the first NT event I've been to, and first event as a volunteer and I really hope we get more big events out this way. I was only able to volunteer on saturday but was truly impressed with everything. There were so many things going on this weekend that it was key for me to have people I could count on. Some of the tasks that were handed off allowed me to forget about them and move on. One of those tasks was the Doubles on Thursday night. I asked Sam Gibson to run it and he took over from there. I just remembered that there WAS a random doubles. Thank you so much Sam for taking this off my plate. You da man!

That was a LOOOOOOOOONG weekend! I would say that without a doubt, that was my favorite disc golf weekend to date. Good friends, a new standard for our "little" NT, and WAY too many stories to remember. I will write a book tonight after work but until then I will list a couple thanks/memories.
-A HUGE thanks to my man Bob REPRESENTING HARD for Stumptown and coordinating a lot of confusing situations all with a smile on his face. I've said it before and I'll say it again, you sir are a great ambassador for the club and NW disc golf :yay::yay:
-Mike Phillips for being our "brain trust" for the weekend. Without you we would have had a lot of unanswered questions and unhappy players. I can't even imagine all the hours you put in and all that work paid off after hearing all of the glowing reviews from the players.
-THE Jeff Mittl for busting his butt on the course and planning work party after work party to get our little gem sparkling for all of these players to enjoy. He also did a great job interacting with everyone being the face for the core team. :yay: to you for the countless hours over the past months as well.
-Our core team was the SHIZNIT! You guys rock and I am proud to call you all friends :rockon:
-a great memory of the weekend for me was all of the top players making there way over to tournament central to let us know how over the top this years BSF was, and to give their personal thanks for all of our hard work.
I have always felt funny introducing myself, this made it a whole lot easier :biggrin2:
- My FAVORITE memory of the weekend was a certain 1036 rated pro :whistler: coming by to say his thank you AND give props to the PDX scene that he would love to be a part of when he soon makes Portland his HOME!!!!!

At around the 2:00 mark, there's a good display of one of the highlights for me as a spectator. Ken throwing a pure 400'+ uphill flex shot and parking 6W for an easy 3. And he did it both rounds. With a Teebird.

Hey Chris Hice,
I understand your frustration and confusion, having to run over to tell you that you are not in but that Johnathon Wills would be teeing off was a hard thing to have to do especially after I had made the mistake of telling you just a minute earlier that you were in. I am sorry for that and there was nothing I could say to take the disappointment off of your face. I am sorry to have put you though that but I am not sorry I called you back, Johnathon was the rightful person to have that spot based on the wait list.
Hopefully you get in next year, hopefully we can somehow increase the number of people we can take into the event.

Maybe this has already been suggested, but what about using Timber as a third course in order to increase the number of peeps?

At first I hated this idea - having everyone together in one place really kicks ass. But with the popularity of this event it is very clear that something needs to be done.
I will admit, it would be very cool playing one weekend and then volunteering for the pros the next.

You are correct Scott, this may be the solution and it WOULD open up a lot of volunteer opportunities AND spectator opportunities. Now, can we get the Pro's to volunteer for the AM weekend?

Having split weekends does not necessarily mean that you can put more people on the courses. We already had 160 am playing both courses, 2 rounds on Saturday and 1 round on Sunday.
The only way to get more Amateurs into the event in my opinion without reducing the quality of the event is to either go to a Friday, Saturday, Sunday format with tee times or add more courses to the event. We have used other courses in the past and it has caused a rift within the amateurs because they wanted to play the same courses as the Pro's so they could gauge their performance level. Now it is obvious that only a handful of players are competing at the pro level and those are the ones making the jump every year into the Pro ranks, but the experience of playing a professional level course for all rounds in an event means a lot to people. If we split the weekends then we would not have the issue of needing to set up the courses for a pro equivalent experience, because the events would not be even close to the same weather conditions two weekends in a row in May in Oregon
So the only way to get more people into the event is going to be going to a Friday, Saturday, Sunday format with tee times all day long. That is unless the parks department will let us put in more courses in the park, even if they are temporary!!

I am just now getting back to a computer for the first time and wanted to also thank Jeff and Mike for putting on such a spectacular show. And also a huge thank you to the army of volunteers and Bob for stepping up and organizing. They were everywhere. Also to all those dedicated souls who were out there nearly every weekend for a couple months beforehand. Freakin Hagerty was lining up the new pads one day, shoveling chips the next day, and mowing the fairway the next, not to mention those fantastically dorky caddy books... I know that all the out of towners that I encouraged to to come down to play or watch and those that I played with were all blown away with the course and whole experience. Talk about raising the bar.
And wow when I pulled into the park on Friday afternoon and saw those flags blowing in the wind and then walked up to tournament central where the first thing I saw was that I was going to be the first one out on the course with Langer and Keys and the first thing I heard was Phillips receiving the hole by hole scores and he repeated "Eric McCabe, hole 2 West, scored a 2?!" It was pretty electric really.

As Flash mentioned, we have run split courses (Dabney and Milo) in the past and it was a nightmare. Difficulty aside, the nearby courses are currently not at NT levels and would require a lot of work for A tier or NT level competition. The primary issues would be safety (overthrows hitting the next teepad or another fairway, etc.).
Split weekends sounds good until you try to find a core team that can take off for 2 days (Th/Fr) for each weekend + stay awake for both weekends. Finding the spotters, starters, etc. would not be as difficult (pros help the ams, ams help the pros, etc.). Also, AMs traveling long distances would not get the opportunity to see the pros playing (they would likely only be there for the AM weekend).

I like it the way it is, and I've been to 3 NT's this year and a supertour. Two were on the same weekend, memorial and BSF, and 2 were split weekends which I went to both weekends for both, St. Patricks and Masters Cup. I can say the same weekend expirence kicks split weekends Azz easy...

Id say that with the number of "TD Quality" PRO's in the Stumptown Club AND surrounding areas. (Id volunteer my time the full 4 days) there would be NO issue staffing an AM weekend. Which would GREATLY lighten the load of the "core team" AND as you say AMS could do the same on the Pro weekend.
Id also be willing to bet that MANY Ams would make the trip just to WATCH the Pros. Offer "Spectator Camping" and MORE $ are generated.
The BSF is an AWESOME event just as it is, BUT with the number of people who want to play it can be even bigger & better.
Convincing the Park to allow 2 weekends would be the key.

Well said but there are two key points,
Parks approval and the Vendors & sponsors for both weekends. Not to mention food for both weekends and cooking Staff.
I don't know if everyone was aware this year or in years past that the Gentleman cooking your food donated it, his time and his staffs time to the event. The man is the part Owner of Next Adventure, Bryan Knudsen. People for the most part every year are supper appreciative but we always have one or two asses in the mix that can't seem to keep their silly BS comments to themselves.
Re-Cap the food every year is donated and cooked by Next Adventure, it does not come out of players entry fees. So the feeling of entitlement should end and the feeling of appreciation should begin!!!!!
Bryan is super cool and realizes that there are people who will always whine so he is not worried or heading for the hills next year but has expressed that he will not support two weekends.

I for one really appreciate all that Bryan has done for the Fling and disc golf in general :bowing:
I also have a much better appreciation of the job he has taken on of cooking us all lunch at the Fling. My husband and I volunteer for my Brother in Laws open water swim every year at Hagg lake. That took place last weekend, and we were in charge of the food this year. We cooked hamburgers, garden burgers, and hot dogs for more than 400 people. Man we were spent by the time it was all done for. I for sure know about the asses too :pullhair: Ya know the ones that take more than their share, so there is not enough for the people coming behind them. Fortunately we had enough for everyone, but I had heard at the Fling on the first day they ran out of food before everyone got feed because people were going back for 2nds and 3rds.

Yeah i saw a few double dippers, so I forfeit my lunch on sunday so someone else could get their lunch... Next Adventure is great with their service. ODDGA would be happy to step up and help out more next year as this year is our break out year obviously. I don't support split weekends, but I do support putting the "lowest" divisions on a 3rd course, IE. Timber, to make more room. Like say MA4, MA3, Womens INT AM, even an INT AM Masters etc at Timber for a round or two to make room for MA1 and MA2 etc at Milo... you get the drift what I mean..

Scott, I did not see anything in that post stating that lower rated players don't deserve to play in the event. Nathan was only suggesting that some of the lower rated divisions play one of their rounds over at Timber Park.
Surely there are a a dozen possible solutions this is just one of them. Are you planning on playing next year or just stirring the pot!

Yeah, what Flash said, if a round or two can be played by some divisions at a 3rd course, it would open up some slots, that was just a suggestion among the many suggestions and brain farts to improve on for next year, hmmm, now that I think about it, that might be the only room for improvement, damn it flash and JM, why ya have to do it so perfect? ;)
Anyways, what a 11 day vacation! My buddy erik who caddied for me was blown away by his 11 day disc golf euphroia. He had never played a big course or even a course in Oregon and his first 3 days were at MILO, then Timber, then Dabney, then Lucky Mudd for half a round (yes booo i know, bad timing), then Hornings for 4 days and nights, insane.... When he left, he said, "I go where you go"... Yeah someone gonna be a future "DGA" (Disc Golf Anonymous)
And gosh, running the Oregon Deaf Championships was exhausting... But wayy cool... Let me put it this way, only 32 players, over 2k cash payout, first place men's open with only 9 registered players got $440; pretty sweet ehh... now i better catch up on my sleep, and dream how I will shoot next year at BSF...

I'll admit to being a little oversensitive on this point. Sometimes it feels like the game is all about the pros. When they can't fill an event, they are kind enough to let us lower division players play on their course. That's kind of what this feels like to me. I know it is only being offered as a possible solution to a bigger problem.
To me, one of the best parts of the fling is having the opportunity to play on a couple of world class courses - the exact same courses that are being played by the top players in the world. I love watching a top pro bogey a hole I parred. I love watching a pro birdie a hole I bogied and then ask myself, "How the hell did he just do that?.
I'm not just stirring the pot. The BSF remains my very favorite tournament and holds a few special meanings for me. It was my first tournament of any kind and happened to be on my birthday. It was also the first PDGA tournament that I cashed in (not the same year, of course). I've been playing just under four years, and have played the BSF three times. This year would have been my fourth fling. Ask anyone who knows me well - it killed me to miss it this year.
With that being said, I'd have serious reservations playing if additional courses were added for the ams.

I agree with Scott on this one. I don't mind the idea of adding a third course as long as I get to play at least one round on each of the courses the pros are playing on. This year was my first Fling, and it was the best disc golf expirence I have had to date

Hmmm. I don't know why you would think that, because that is the exact opposite of what REALLY happened with the BSF this year. The AM side of the BSF filled up so insanely fast that AMs actually started filling up the PRO side. This left a lot of Pros unable to play. I counted around 30 players with ratings below 950 playing in PRO, and I'd be willing to bet half of them would have played AM if it had not been full. How is that "All about Pros?"

I agree completely. The BSF is all about Milo. Anything else would detract from the event.

It's not. The BSF is an exception, but I've felt this attitude at other tournaments and would hate to see the fling go down that road.

MANY thanks to Next Adventure and ALL that they do for Disc Golf & the BSF.
Providing FOOD for players is a MAJOR pain in the A**.
I stopped doing it myself at my events many years ago. It INSANE how people act when they dont seem to be getting enough of something as fast as they feel they are entitled to recieve it, EVEN if it is FREE.

Here are some of MY thoughts on this years Fling & beyond.
This years TD's & Staff did an AWESOME job in EVERY aspect.
I have NEVER seen the grounds more beautiful & the the weather could not have cooperated any better.
:bowing::bowing::bowing:
I personally talked to MANY players & Visitors that were making thier 1st Trip to Milo.
Virtually ALL OF THEM were completely blown away by the Venue, Staff & overall experience.
:yay::yay::yay:
The problem is that if you think we had an issue with filling this year..:whistler:
Just WAIT until next year...:whistler:
As more & more players come to this event..the "word" gets out.
MORE players will be scrambling to get into this event next year.
It surely would be nice IF there was a way to accomidate this demand.
An AM only weekend COULD rival the Bowling Green Ams. :dancing:
Wouldn't that be a GOOD thing?
Sure, there would be the "sacrifice" of NOT playing the same weekend as the PROS.
BUT wouldn't the trade off of having a HUGE event with 250+ Ams be enough?
:chinscratch:
The Growth potential IS there, Its how that demand is acted upon that matters.

After seeing first hand what Jeff and Mike are capable of, I believe they can do ANYTHING. Look how they took control and made the weather cooperate. I believe they CAN add several hours of daylight for three days and give us another round of golf each day. Right Jeff and Mike?
Seriously though, has anybody approached the Parks people with the idea of adding an additional 18 temp holes, maybe in the dog poopie area? It would be more work in grooming but might be a possibility.
More parking is an issue! Could we use the East lot if cars are parked early and left all day?
Camping? What about using the Group Camping by where the "bump" is in the road coming down? It's further away and not ON the course but might be a better option?
Just some thoughts!

Thanks Guys & Gals,
You all have brought up some good issues and concerns that need to be evaluated, considered and prioritized. I amongst all of you want to keep blowing things out of the water. I don't want to marginalize the event in any way and I will not be apart of the event if it goes down that road.
Keep in mind though that bigger is never a guarantee for better, sure Bowling green is a large event that brings in 500 plus competitors but they play on many courses around the city and you don't get the same tournament feel that you get at Milo. I have asked Jeff about looking at the Dog Park as a possible location for a temporary course to augment the amateur side. The course would have to be at the same caliber or close to as Milo East and Milo West.
The Am's are the issue and Jeff hinted to the problem we experienced this year with the registration. Now I can not guarantee that will not happen next year but we are working to reduce the tendency and possible with the help of the PDGA eliminate it completely. Now if you take the 160 ams we had in the event, the 30 plus in the pro side and the 50 on the waitlist we are looking at 240-250 ams next year wanting to play, never mind the growth this years event has sparked. Now if we keep the 80 player size to a course we need 3 coursed to field 240 players and 4 courses to go past that. That sounds like a lot of work and a lot of extra baskets that need to be the same for the super tour.
Have no fear Jeff Mittl and I are talking about next year already and we have some ideas but nothing to share right now. We always will have the players in mind when we make our decisions because if it wasn't for the players why even have an event. Thanks for all of the comments and encouragement, it makes it easier to convince the wife that this year was a time crunch because of the small planning window and next year will be easier.
Thank you to all that bought the fund raiser discs, it was a difficult economic year this year for a lot of people and families but you still managed to help support the fling. The money we raised helped us to improve the event with everything you saw. Not just payouts but everything, like tent and radio rentals to custom tee signs, ob markers and barriers. I just want the people who purchased them to know that it was you that helped put the polish on the event and It was greatly appreciated.

Oh hey, was thinking about the NT's I have gone to earlier this year and thinking about what BSF didn't have, which was really hard and took me this long to finally think of something. Driving nets! The memorial had 1 driving net at each starting point, and the supertour in Orangevale had one as well.... I thought this was cool to warm up for drives, and think this would be good for next year's BSF since every starting hole except maybe 1E is a long bomb hole and would benefit everyone in warm ups...

So how did those work exactly? It can be a clusterf**k around the putting practice basket as it is, how big is this 'driving net'? What is the etiquette for using them in a large group? Everybody gets a drive and then you pick up the discs?
Good suggestion though...:pirate:

I loved the driving nets at Orangevale. They didn't seem to be overcrowded, not everyone seemed to want to warm up that way. You wouldn't use them as long as you would practice putting for instance.

Anyone who went to the memorial, orangevale or the masters cup would have seen these, basically a rectangle net 10 feet wide and 8-10 feet high, like a golf practice net. Everyone took turns, they weren't like super popular or anything, alot of players just threw 5-10 drives and felt that was good enough and went back to putting... the BSF would probably had more people practicing drives since it would be more useful here than at orangevale or the masters cup... but still nice addition. Only need like 20 feet of space in front of the net, throw it like 5-10 feet in front of the net . Orangevale had a makeshift one out of poles and only allowed putters to be thrown into it...

I was looking through disc golf review's website and looking at reviews left on Milo since I been talking to some east coast peeps who claim Paw Paw is better... And I am confused on how the heck anyone can claim that Milo's layout is confusing? The first time I played there, with the help of a map, it was easy peasy japaneasy and ever since it's been a walk in the park playing the 27 hole layout or any other layout I seem fit. I don't see how any tee pads can be claimed to be "facing the wrong direction" as stated in DGR.. Sure the new signs are fubar, and someone told me the state park staff did the signs without consulting Stumptown, but nevertheless; confusing layout and tees facing wrong direction? bullshiz...
