Micah Meeuwsen just called me and he found a disc golf course in the Sisters' area at Black Butte Ranch. Apparently, they have discatchers painted green. Anyone know about this?

I tried to play it last year while I stayed in Black Butte during the shootout at Hyzer Pines.. I coulnd't figure anything out. I ended up just playing safari. There may be a map at the stick golf club house, I never bothered to check as the pins seemed so close together it was kinda lame.

It's been there for several years. The discatchers were painted green after the residents complained that they were too unsightly. The course is very poorly laid out. Hole 1 is a hazard if anyone is playing on the play structure, soccer field, or basketball courts. Holes 2 and 3 are long (400') with absolutley no obstacles. The grass is not mowed or level, so finding your disc is pretty tough. Hole 4 is the only one that has potential as a great golf hole - a long blind hyzer shot to a protected green. Holes 5-9 are like a mini hyzer pines - Holes are anywhere from 60 - 125'. No teepads, no signs, and a bitch to figure out without a map. We stayed there for a week and only played the course once - it was enough.

If you're dirving by on your way to Bend, do yourself a favor and keep going another ten minutes and play Hyzer Pines.

Like Scott said, it's not new. It's technically only open to residents and guests of BBR, but if you really want to play, you can always just tell the guy at the gate that you're "going to play some golf."

My friends who played it said it wasn't TOO horrible.

Well, it's disc golf so it can't be ALL bad.

But I can't imagine why you would spend the time when you could drive an extra 10 minutes and be at Hyzer Pines.

My friend's family's cabin is 3/4 mile from Hyzer Pines; they probably wanted some variety.
