Why not move the date, Terry? Like... to Thanksgiving when it might be a more applicable name? :whistler:

Turkeyrama, It's a McMinnville festival thing thats at the same weekend every year. I personally wouldn't mind doing it a weekend before or after so I could play in both events. Turkeyrama is bad luck for me anyway. :chug: :cop: :headbang: you get the idea.

why not be more helpful with your thinking instead of what you might think is funny, thanksgiving that's funny, so why do you call it the" Rose City "open if you play half the golf outside the "Rose City",, sounds like you need to work on why that tournament name is not more applicable:cool2:

i to would like to move the date, the city would like to have it on saturday the sameday the bbq and baseball and conserts go on but don't understand the people in the way thing and we can't use the field on saturday,i changed the date two years ago to accomadate that and most of the sponsers did not approve because the whole deal is to be apart of Turkeyrama,so we consider the tournament as closing down Turkeyrama, the last event of the weekend, sometimes baseball extends into sunday as well ,and the whole purpose of the tounament is to get new people to play ,it's an awareness tournament to the community that disc golf exists in their city, you could come out and watch or play along for free and learn what disc golf is about,so no the date can't really be changed and it may be changed to saturday to accomadate sponsers and have it seen by more people using the park on saturday for the other events,
and as for another pdga tournament the club will bring back its late October tournament we used to do many years back called the Silver Squirrel Disc Golf Challange, I'll set up a course that will be very difficult to par,Jerry Miller and Tom Embre are the only ones to shoot par for a round,Jerry Miller shoot par both rounds one year (score card is still pinned up in my closet), so come October if you come play expect to say of few harsh words under your breath if not outloud, things used in the past, knee bunkers, island greens,mandos,600ft. double mando par 4's,get the idea, long day of bogey golf:cool2:

pdga c tier recomends 50.00 and not to exceed 100.00 well within the boundries, and if I were a pro I think higher entry fee and lower number of people would be a good chance to cash in,
and if Mic and Scotty R. donate or get paid to make any trophies the price of admission would be more than justice ,are tuesday series are already recieving some and i've been to many tournaments over the years and havn't seen anything as ssssswwwwweeeeeeeeeetttttt as these babies are going to be,:cool2:

Well, Terry... I was actually being serious as I knew nothing of Turkeyrama. I'm usually pretty clear when I am joking.

As for why it is called the Rose City Open, it is because it was originally just at Pier Park- in the Rose City. I have nothing to do with the tournament now, though, so asking me to work on the tournament name is a little silly.

It's all good, Terry. I am sure that you might get like 20-25 people out for your tourney considering the fact that there is a larger tournament just up the road. On a different weekend, you would probably get double.

But yeah... take that as a joke if you wish. :rolleyes2:

SMOKIN JOE
May 7th, 2009, 12:05 PM
what else would you take that as, Thankgiving is obviously not in July, and why would I try to compete with the Rose City Open if I didn't have to,so if you are bieng series maybe think before you type:cool2:

You do realize that there have been events in the past called the Turkey Toss and that they happened on Thanksgiving, right? Brill ran them, I believe. THAT is why I suggested Thanksgiving, Terry. Not to be a jerk and I wasn't trying to make a joke.

Clearly you would not want to compete with the RCO as I am sure you know it will hurt your numbers. If you can do nothing about it and don't want to find new sponsors, I suppose you are stuck. Too bad, too... I want to play in a tourney at Wortman.

I think the Turkey Toss will do just fine. The RCO will sell out in 20 minutes and everyone who didn't make it in will go toss turkeys.

I believe Pier Park is only 35 miles from McMinnville. The PDGA requires 50 miles between a B tier and a C tier so your approval will rest on the shoulders of Jeff Hagerty as he has already been sanctioned. This is something Mike Ruzica would have told you if he had time to respond. He is a little busy with another series over on the cascades.

Sounds like Jeff would have no problem with your approved sanctioning so you might want to call the PDGA office and let them know about the situation and the fact that the RCO is virtually full as of today.

SMOKIN JOE
June 3rd, 2009, 09:51 PM
well aware of the rules being a pdga tournament director
that's why I waited as long as I did to apply for sanctioning
the pdga takes its time, hell they haven't even cashed my 450.00 check from the last tournament
as posted before no one is trying to compete with the rco ,, the people on the list come every year even before when it has had the same date
alot of the locals that play also play pdga so only trying to make it good for the locals and raise a little more for the pdga
I'm sure there would be no conflicts and no complaints that's why I posted that the mag has been notified so all should be good since no negitive reply
I believe I read to contact the mag to see if another tournament director would be in objection
:cheers:thank you for your support:chug::cool2:
did I mention them trophies yeah baby

Thats awesome, another c tier at Wortman. So Terry are you going to set up the field again and play the regular 12? Or are we going to mix it up a bit?

SMOKIN JOE
June 13th, 2009, 02:35 PM
hopefully we will get the field again, they have not said ,he said to check around the 15th to see if any organized youth anything needs it first,so tuesday i'll go see again or i'll sick Randy on them, the intent is to do the same as the Daylight tournament, the twelve plus the field, being summer i thought of the back twelve first, then the front twelve, reversing the field as well, two differnt 18's,if no field and under 36 people we will do dual nines and 2 different 18's,most will depend on number of people and out of towners,
of course someone could sponser a 18 and with approval choose themselves,,
regardless thanks to your family trophy donations this will be an awesome event:cool2:

Cant waith for my first Turkey Toss! I have missed the last two and this sounds like a perfect one day tourney, only one problem my sister is getting married the night before the tourney so I might be a little hung over, Brock is going down! We will not see a repeat of the daylight savings... also you better get me some discs if you want them dyed for ctps or what ever? Im thinking bosses and you should also make a practice of only redeeming script for bosses, just my thoughts

I sure appretiate the work you do, due to the lack of sign up I don't have resourses like last time, that's why preregistration is so important, it shows your supporting the tournament, and little guys like me take that money and go buy discs the day before, thanks for your help last time too. :posting:

here's the latest on what's up, the field is still not able to be reserved due to baseball because the high school rules the field in the summer, we have called a number of times and a lady named Mary who is in charge has yet to return any of my calls, we can set up but without resevation then I can't close the field to other users, the trophies are close to being profected, sounds like we will have trophies for all divisions shown on preregistration list down to third in most divisions, as the list looks most everybody will win a trophy, there's going to be alot of happy people at this gig at this rate , a few added prizes as well , money on the dollar is going to be outstanding, Carl and Scotty are dying some special Discs for the tourney, some extra trophies and prizes, Scotty is going to The Depot today to pick up a stack of plastic for script, those of you on the preregistration list will get first crack at the plastic over day off non list people at redemption time, if there is not enough plastic to go around then you will have to wait a couple of days for your script to be filled, preregistration means more plastic I can buy to have for script, I will come up with a new plan for a course or two depending on number of day non list people, as of now I think I will come up with a dual 9 hole and a backup 18 if somehow more than 40 attend, anybody to help create, tonight at 7:00 and tomorrow after Tuesday series, Wednesday will announce final plan, so here's the mini list again

it seems they don't want the field to be rented again, we can use it but without reservation, I to many options of what people might do to plan anything out there, more and likely nothing going on but not worth the chance, so here is the course to be used for hopefully a few more people,

everything is according to the 12 hole pad course

hole 1: alternate tee just down from regular teepad , simi trailer in way of first tee,o.b.'s creek,path,6foot6,concrete table,312 feet
hole 2: hole 2, o.b.'s in or over creek,path,over service road,6foot6,282 feet
hole 3: hole 3, o.b.'s in or creek,on or over path line left and deep of basket,6foot6,242 feet
hole 4: hole 4, o.b.'s creek,path,6foot6,over service road,354 feet
hole 5: hole 5, o.b.'s in or over creek, path, service road,6foot,ouside of park boundry marked by flags, street and fences,348 feet
hole 6: hole 6,o.b.'s creek, path, play area, ouside of park boundry marked by flags,fences,319 feet
hole 7: hole 7,o.b.'s creek,path,play area,6foot6,concrete table,223 feet
hole 8: hole 8, o.b.'s,in or over creek,6foot6,concrete table,301 feet
hole 8 b: tee off grass across creek towards basket 6, to portable basket by teepad 9 past basket 8, o.b.'s, in or over creek,on or over path,6foot6,267 feet
hole 9: hole 9, o.b.'s, creek, on or over path,6foot6,262 feet
hole 9 b: walk around hole 10 to senior building parking lot towards the street, tee off sidewalk to portable basket by flagploe and concrete tables,o.b.'s path, concrete tables,6foot6,flagpole,kazibo pad,256 feet
hole 10: hole 10,o.b.'s path,bench,sidewalk,parking lot,6foot6,268 feet
hole 11: hole 11,o.b.'s on or over path,6foot6,parking lot,someone's back porch,261 feet
hole 12: hole 12,o.b.'s path,creek,6foot6,someone's back porch, last house on lefts front yard,bench,308 feet
hole 15:teeboard 22 to basket 2,hole 22 on back course, o.b.'s path,over service road,6foot6,in or over creek,267 feet
hole 16: tee off grass across service road from teepad 5 by pole to basket 5,o.b.'s path, service road, outside park boundries,6foot6,in or over creek, 351 feet
hole 17:across creek towards concrete table, tee off bark chip teepad to basket 6, o.b.'s creek, path, play area, outside park boundries,6foot6,294 feet
hole 18: teepad 8 to basket 3,mando right of big tree at opening in fairway,o.b.'s in or over creek,path,6foot6,benches,concrete tables, mando tree,748 feet par 5 nice way to finish
well unless i forgot something that's the gig, might also due a dual nine which is like this quick rundown,1-3,4,5,6,7,same alt.8,9-10 par 4,11,12,alt.3 by play area, alt 4 by group of trees, same alt.5,alt.6 off path, same alt.8,9 to portable in woods par 4,,alt 10 offsidewalk,alt.11 off dirt, alt. 12 off dirt,,the portables stay the same for either course, might due both, would be easy to have both set up, so lets get more signups and do the first course which can hanlde more than the dual nines:cool2:

Count me in. P.S. did you recieve the post about last tuesdays point game and are you going to add the scores to the runnings?
