No Open golf at Four Mound this Sunday cause I'll be at the DRO. WE'll get 'er back open the following Sunday for you. I think you'll like the Tee-box upgrades and the new benches. The majority of my maint. has been to freshen up the Jumanji course for the upcoming LCO but I've been doing some trimming elsewhere. If you like doing course work Four Mound will scratch that itch. SeeYou soon. G#21004.

Funny they call it Four Mound. Does that mean yer gonna get a 4? I guess so. Does ' Mound' mean you'll get a pile of fours?I guess so. This Sunday, $5 no guns , pack it out. 10:00 AM .The Jumanji course for the LCO will include three more holes from the Porcupine course used at last years City Cup; #13, #14 & #15 . Holes #16 & & 17 from the Cape Fear Course will be deleted, as will one other hole.

Well Randi lost a nice sidewinder on that hole somewhere along the left side of the fairway hill about mid way so if you find please take to the club house lost and found. Other than that it was a nice warm day out there, I had alot of pars on the Jumanji course and only 4 4's so take that Jumanji. I missed a couple of birds but thats fine the course didnt kill me. Lets see how the LCO goes right after the Beaver State Fling.

So Sunday was a definite good time. First time there and only lost a Force on hole #7 of Cape Fear. :headbang: Shot a 9 over on my first look at the course so I was pretty stoked. Would've been a 4 over if I hadn't thrown a 2 over and 3 over respectfully on 15 and 16.:explode: Can't wait till I can come back and play the rest! :yay: Thank you Gordy!

I doubt it will be open though, due to it being post-season and all.

Thanks for the hospitality Gordy and Jaymie.

It was a nice day out at the mound today. Saw five deer out on Blue 12, and what I would guess was a flock of 60 turkeys on the drive out, down the big hill on the right.

Also, I'm proud to have posted new personal best scores on every Four Mound course in the past two weeks, and got birdies on 9 holes that I had never birdied before. Adding a little distance makes a huge difference out on those courses :D

Hey Gordy, I got a long shot for ya but I lost a shirt while playing Jumanji with Lyle on Sunday. It's a nice Mountain Hardware polo style shirt with a zip up collar. The shoulders are gray and the rest of the shirt is blue, size Medium probably. If someone happens to find this shirt and it's still in a wearable condition I'd like to get it back. I took it off on Porcupine 11 on top of the plateau and never looked for it again after. I am not sure what Jumanji hole that is but it would be between there and hole 27. Sorry for the litter, I'm an idiot:pullhair:

Have you seen the episode Seinfeld where George leaves something behind at a girl's place after a date as an easy excuse to see her again?

Its like that with Scott and Four Mound. It was Scott's plan all along to get you to re-open Four Mound so he could "look for his shirt".

ScottW
September 17th, 2009, 01:44 PM
Although it is a good ploy to get myself back out there I wasn't actually planning on trying to go out on Sunday, though the thought did cross my mind I don't think my wife will go for it since we will be playing at Farragut on Saturday. I wasn't asking you to look for it your self Gordy, that stupid shirt could be ANYWHERE. If someone happens to stumble on it and turn it in that would suffice, but definitely don't go seek it out. I wouldn't even do that and it's my own shirt. Thanks again for the round Lyle and thanks Gordy and Jaymie for letting us go out and play. Four Mound is always a treat, even when I get my butt kicked by the course(s) and lose a shirt :biggrin2:

Hope you found your new manufactured home. Would've been cool to come out and play but oh well. Went to Faragut instead. Threw both the 18's and played the putt putt course like 4 times. Was shooting par on Wreckreator until I got to hole 16. Threw 3 consecutive 2 overs to goto 6 over  Was very shocking . Threw 1 under on Northstar though. That felt pretty good. Hey Gordy when are you going to close the gates for the season? I just finally got my car up and running again:yay: so I'll actually be able to start making the trek again.

With any luck at all we'll be open through the winter barring the most severe weather. I've been re-grading the entry drive so that even now even the most metro- sex@#%*&@! vehicles can glide right in. Good chance there will be some kind of const. at Central in the coming months so even more incentive to maitain the drive. Last year there was two feet of snow on Dec. 17th and we were shut out until about St. pats. What are the odds of that happening again? So lets ribbon-up and rumble.:yay: Let the bonfires begin!:explode:

So it was a pleasure getting to come out there on a Saturday. Loved the fact that we were two of maybe six people that came out. Never had to see or deal with anybody else.

Porcupine is now my favorite of all the courses out there. Was Cape Fear but now thats changed. The signature hole on Porcupine is just brutal. Makes me want to work on my side arm.

Thanks Gordy for a great time. My buddy Hefe says thanks for the beer. Next time I'll bring you one myself.

Yeah thats the hole. Threw a beautiful drive on it too. SS Avenger thrown hard and flat. Turned perfectly. Forgot to ask. Is it a par 4 or 3?

October 15th, 2009, 08:15 AM
For the purposes of simplicity its a par 3.

If you want to call it by its actual difficulty, then it and Cape Fear #4 are the only par 4's out at Four Mound.

Hole #4 on Cape Fear is called Picabu Street cause you can just barely get a peek at it from the t-box. The monster tree just to the right of the line of play is called the Half-way House because you may have to spend some time there for 'rehabilitation'. The hole is also called the 'noose' hole because after you play it you may need one. The hole tapes out at 450' but has not been re-verified in a long time. If someone wants to re-measure it thats fine with me.

Yes, at 10:00am on Sunday the 8th you may arrive. PS. Porky #15 is probably the most complex hole at the reserve; short on the right is deep dense rough. Midway on the left is deepdense rough. 2nd shots, even if in the clear, are on sloped terrain throwing diagonally upward. From up on top chipping in may not be a given. Good putt attempts can roll away. 4 is good.:explode:

Last weekend I stayed home and watched the 49rs loose the the Seahawks, but tomorrow Fourmound will be open from 10:30 till 3:30. There will be a nice big fire, probably on Porky #6. Since its going to be a short day the car fee will be $3. All the courses are intact and ready for play with the exception of #2 on the Final 10 Circuit. I'll probably get a bucket for a temporay pin there. The grading and pick-up work gives Porky holes #4,5,6 &7 a more groomed look. If its not too warm, the fresh grading won't be too muddy. 200 people have checked this sight since I last posted in Jan, so I guess I better give an update. There will be no official opening this weekend since the Cafe will be open on Valentine's Day and I will be extremely busy there. The following Sunday will be our first opening for the new season. Opening time will be 10 am and the car fee is $5. See you soon , Gordy.:chug:

The message above is in regards to Sunday, Feb. 21st. More updates; For parking take the first right turn just before the Clubhouse because its a little muddy up by the new construction. Cape Fear Course: Hole #17. The random trees up the middle of the fairway have been removed and a key-way through the trees that guard the green now makes the green if not the basket visible from the tee. Hawk Course Hole #5. Several more trees on the pin side of the meadow part of the fairway have been removed, thus better rewarding a drive that lands on the line of play. This area is where the fire will be on Sunday. Parking is available in the lot near Hawk #16. Bring a Chair! :chug:

:cheerleader: Sweet Ole' Bob will be your host this Sunday starting at 10:00 am. Don't let his jolly exterior fool you though ; he's not nearly so easy-going as me, SO DON'T SMOKE OR LITTER out on the course. All of the car fees collected will go to the Inland Northwest Series. Please remember to tip the host. Also , will someone please call Don Ferguson @ 216-4361 to let him know the Mound will be open. He wants to know. Also, if someone goes by Cape Fear #14, could they please put the bucket and flag back on top of the basket. Its so tall the wind keeps knocking it over. You guys be good and have fun. Gordy.

I'll be out there tomorrow the 7th about 10:00 am I've got some projects I'm working on but I also want to do some playin. There's an area on the far west side we're clearing out and are considering as an alternate to Hawk #5. If you go to the midway point of #5 and go about 50 yards due west you'll see the fairway under development. The tee area would be up the slope to the north and the pin area would be to the south upon a gradual rise. The potential for both a big long slopey curvy hole or a pin-point duecey is there. Take a look. Gordy.:chug:

Bring an electric or cordless drill with star-driver, or a hammer and some 16p galv. nails. I'll try to get some of the new material pre-cut and ready for assembly. Someone who knows how to use a skillsaw SAFELY would be useful. If Bob or Kevin can bring some stain or primer..... Seeyou there. G.:smash:

That leaves only 59 more tee boxes for you to take a photo-op. You can get started this Sunday at noon. The late start is due to the fact that the Zags will tip off at 9:00 AM our time and I'm going to watch. The car fee will be reduced to $3 for the late opening. Anyone who was part of Eric and Kevin's work party at Downriver on Sat. will get a free pass. My son Tom will be out there doing some Q so maybe he has some extra or you can sneak one onto his coals. So your going to be open this week so I can bust my Four Mounds cherry for this year right? I hope so because I'm trying to drag a few other people that think Faragut has the best courses in the area but have never once even ventured to Four Mounds.

Oh yeah, one more thing. Gordy, tell Jaymie that playing in the final round of the D.R.O. with her and the others was the only highlight of my entire George Bush style failure for the weekend. Playing with her, Kym, Katelynn and Serge was pretty much like playing a casual round with anybody else.

See you Sunday,

That's right. The pangs to go to the Windy River Open are strong with me but I have been to tournies two weeks in a row, so this weekend, while I'll still be thinking globally, I'll be acting locally. 10:00 am is my target opening time. If anyone wants to check out a new potential hole on Jumanji for the LCO called 'Pan's Laboratory', I'll try to have it a little more cleaned up and marked. It's meant to be the shortest bitchiest hole you'll see this year. Generally, the original Jumanji will be in play for LCO. Surveyors whiskers mounted on top of 2-foot stakes will be the guiding colors for Jumanji this year. Oh yes, they're yellow and they're almost all in place. Happy Hunting. Gordy.:pirate:

Jaymie and I will open up at about 10am. Typically I work on something for a while ,in this instance turning the new 150' par 4 hole into something Jaymie will have less trouble with. There are still a lot of rocks to pick up and branches to be carried off. I'm also preparing some materials for Kevin to use with the People's Park Buckets. But don't get me wrong: We'd love to join you two for some dg and show you around. Jaymie is a little under the weather today but should improve by tomorrow. The sadism will rachet up a notch next weekend when th wind kicks in.! Our own round with Andrew and Sheila on Jumanji was effortless with the modest tempretures but its warming up now. Sheila showed us, to our amazement, how to get from tee to hole on the Laboratory; a seeing-eye fore-hand straight up-roller to the pin for the tap-in deuce. Andrew and I took fours. Jaymie does NOT like the hole. What's really amazing is that I just raked it up yesterday; On Sunday it was just lousy with Thousands of snipped trees and branches . Now that shot should be easy!:jumpspin:G.

I didn't come out this weekend because well, I'm lazy. I was drinking and flirting with the ladies all weekend. Still somehow managed to squeeze in a round at downriver and highbridge though, while drinking and flirting of course.

In hindsight, the drinking and flirting is probably why my scores were so bad.

Drunken douche bags will remain subject to severe rendition. I'm starting to trim out some of the tee boxes with my wimpy weed-wacker so you might want to bring a broom along. I need to trim some branches and maybe a tree or two on Hawk holes #3 and #8 because new tree growth has obscured the line-of-sight to the pins. Read the post under 'Highbridge',' alternating weekend events', to get a heads up on the upcoming Handicap schedule of events coming to Four Mound. Wobbly Bob will get these dates posted very soon. They will most likely be every-other weekend and will include some Sat. dates. With the weather changing we will have a nice fire somewhere each event. Also there is a flush toilet available and hot and cold running water. We encourage youths to join in and will work to make the day a family friendly time. We're looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones. Gordy:chug:

10:oo AM is my target time. There are some 6" diameter timbers cut for landscape work at Downriver. They range from 8 to 10' long. Anyone with a truck to haul any of them to Downriver? I took a load of them downtown and stored them inside the gate near hole 5 but they got taken, so they need to be stored further inside the park.:chug:

Handicap will go ahead as scheduled, 11:00 am tee-off. The road in is clear all the way to Tourney Central. The snow on the course is about 2-3" of soft stuff over the frozen stuff. The tees for the Handi course have not been played lately so they shouldn't be compacted or too slick. In a pinch there is a warming shelter where you can escape the cold after the round. I'll probably go out with the lead card to blaze the trail. I'll get the gate open as close to 10:00 as I can as I will need to stop and get some beer and gas on the way. Come on up. Gordy. :chug:

I've set the Stimpiridge.com calendar to reflect the Corbin event. I don't have a Stimpi event scheduled and I don't know/haven't heard from the runners of the High Bridge/Downriver weeklies, so I've kinda been listing them randomly as it appears there are times noone shows up.

Keep me in the loop, guys, if you want your events listed on my calendar.

It took me till Thursday to recover from the three rounds last weekend. I left a bunch of shots out there besides. As an AM2 player, this is great news for me. The only drawback to last year's event was the huge backups that we had, and if there are extra holes to better spread the players out, then that should go a long way in correcting the problem.

PS- I was just wondering why some people think that Porcupine is the easier of the courses? I think that Hawk is easier by a fair margin, and I personally would rather play Cape Fear than to take on that spiky bastard again. Love 'em all though, and as they say: the checks in the mail Bob!

Whoever said Porcupine was easier than the Hawk hasn't played the courses or did really bad on Hawk and really good on the Porcupine.

In defense of the Hawk I have seen it become more challenging every year. Holes #1, #2, #11 #13, #14 have all been changed over the years and the course is better for it.

Hi Gordy,
Made it out yesterday with a couple friends for the first time. I am in love. :kissflowers: hahaha...

Anyways, we attempted to navigate I believe Hawk (the "easy" course) but lost our way on hole 11 or 12 (one of the long boys running along the ridge and underneath the huge powerlines). I was wondering... is there a course map available or even GPS coordinates of the courses that I could get a hold of? I can't wait to come out and play again soon but we could definitely benefit from a map (or tour guide :wink2: ).

Thanks for making such an amazing DG wonderland!!

Right now the signage for the Hawk and the Porcupine are being removed so I can dedicate signage to the Jumangi course for the LCO. Specific signage is also underway to mark the Porcupine '13'. The Final '10' will also be another layout, generally along the Porcupine route.....Some GPS work is presently underway to create a map to provide guidance for the LCO players.... In the meantime, if you want to play Hawk, or Porcupine, or Fear, you will need a guide.I recommend you play Jumanji right now.........Sean, I will be open this Sat. and Sunday even if I have to have someone cover for me. The Porcupine '13' will include the long hole #1, the Final '10' #2 (without the special conditions) and then thru #8 and then #13, #14 #15, #16, #17, and #18. This sequence of holes will take about the same amount of time as it will take 135 of the other players to complete the 27 hole Jumanji....For the Final '10' there will be variations and improvements. You guys have asked these questions and there is much more information regarding the LCO pending ....We're about 25% full with 4 weeks to go. The 'O' in LCO stands for 'open' so first come, first served. Thanks for asking. Gordy:chug::chug::chug::chug:

On Sat. please go to the CPO (Corbin Park Open). As for Sunday, I'm still finding out what we're doing for Mom's Day. We will be open on Sunday, though. I'll post a specific time as the morning approaches.......The LCO courses are all laid out including the Final '10'. # 8 on the Final '10' is a very long hole where the green is directly behind the House Mound. This year the fairway for #8 will only be 60' wide at it's maximum and may tend to give the top pros second thoughts . The next hole, #9, from atop the House Mound, will have an 80' wide lake just to the left of the pin, so big righties beware. There is now also a guided path down from the tee up there which will be helpful to most (it won't be easy for Stimp to get his cart up or down the House Mound, but perhaps his caddy could just roll it around the nice Gallery Path at its' base.):chug: Gordo

It's early now and I need to run some business errands before I go out to open the gate. I'm thinking 11:00. I will post back here later this morning to confirm or amend that time.
For Thursday I have cleared my schedule out in order to be open all day. I'm thinking 10:00 but I'll post back here again to confirm. Gordy.:chug:

Hi Gordy,
Have the tee markers been put back in place since the LCO Jumanji layout?

I ask because I have only been out once to play Hawk, I believe, and am very excited to come out and play more but I just don't know the layout of your courses.

Dear Simmeltron, the Jumanji signs will remain in place through the Country Cup at least. If you want to play the Hawk I can get you hooked up. I'm getting my mowing program back on line cause the grass is exploding. I spent about three hours at it today and will be hitting it hard the rest of the week. Weed whackers are always welcome. Tune up for the Cup!:c...hug::chug::chug:

Sounds good! I am a working stiff during the week otherwise I'd come out to help but hope to make it out this weekend. I will see what I can do about acquiring a weed eater as a stowaway to do my part on that grass. :shooting:

I have a whacker and mix, it just needs someone to take hold of it. I get the big part of the mowing done with a PTO driven rotary mower. The whacker is for steep areas and the greens. Please don't feel obliged. Its all going well. G.:chug:

Gordy- how are the water levels out there? I lost my favorite PD on hole 1, Hawk and I was wondering if the pond has started to dry up. Given the weather that we had today, I'm going to bet that's a no:waaah:

As of last Sunday I was barely able to mow a skinny fairway. The pond looked mucky but things are drying out fast. I'll check it today and give you an update.

Your disc has been recovered.
I'm doing Father's Day stuff today. Sorry to say 4-mound won't be open. I plan to get out tomorrow in the early afternoon for some catch up on the house and other course related things. I'll update specific times as Monday unwinds. G.:chug:

I'll be open early, 10:00 for sure. A lot of folks are up at the Beast so there should be plenty of room. Please no smoking on the courses now.
I plan to have running water in place out on the far west side (lot B) in time for the Cup. At present there is running water available on Final 10 #8, Final 10 #6 and Porcupine #15 (the uphill diagonal hole) You just need to remember to open up the upright valve next to the green at Porky #18.:chug:
