There are no players yet displayed on the pdga page: http://www.pdga.com/event?TournID=9030. I imagine that they will be there eventually as that is the place where I would expect to find the list of registered players. Ray is the go-to man for this information.

The date is still May 9th and 10th and if you have not registered yet then you can do so this way: http://www.discgolftacoma.com/flyers/2009/2009springclassic.pdf

Can someone provide a description or map of the Alt 27 hole course that will be played for the Spring classic? Is it similar to the 27 hole layout that has been used in the Ft. Steily Open the past 2 years?

You can now view the current REGISTRATION (http://www.pdga.com/tournament-results?TournID=9030) on the pdga site. Ray says he's working to get the online registration up and running so check back in toward the end of the week, hopefully it will be available by the weekend or early next week.

I had a brief conversation with Ray and he is trying to get the online registration going with the pdga. It's tough getting all this stuff done when you're working full time. I think we're just waiting for the pdga to hit the "go" button. Hopefully it'll get there in the next day or two. In the mean time the registration list (http://www.pdga.com/tournament-results?TournID=9030) has been updated.

Kinda unorganized is an understatment. pdga had my info for weeks. after personally talking to karolyn 3 times and todd twice he finally got it going. I'll leave it at that.

Now things are coming together. tee signs, scorecards, I put flags on the baskets we will be playing, lots of sponsorship. super cool ant discs. and registration will be close to or over 100 with the next update.

Never played the alt 27. lets just say its one of the best and it is very long. Over 10,000 feet. In order to alleviate fivesomes and 6 hour round. I may send pro's out group by group (groups of 4) on hole 1 and ams out group after group on hole 16. this will alleviate fivesomes and shorten the round. It will work if needed.
Hope to see ya all at the spring classic next week. peace

6 dga mach lites will be given away at this event. ma1, ma2, mm1, mg1 division winners will all walk away with a red or blue one. the basket plus schwag for the ma1 winner. another basket for the putting contest winner and another by raffle.
So far$310 cash added to the pros. more as sponsorship grows.

I heard that winners from Bob West this year felt cheated They got a basket for winning and second got this cool trophy. + it's a quick way to over value the payout. What about the gals don't they get one also?

i agree, i think the winner should get a basket AND a trophy. i also agree with jub that the gals should get a basket AT LEAST! we need to be giving the women in tournaments BETTER trohpys and prizes than the men, so that we get more women coming out.

Actually Scott only 4 are for payout 2 are for other "full field" games or revenue producers. Anyway, it seems inconsistent to give baskets to select divisions over others.

+ It's kinda crappy to win an event and get only a basket while the rest get to chose their winnings. Normally Winners don't need baskets They should actually go to the DFL's cause they can use the practice.

At CSI I tired and succeeded to encourage more ladies to play. There were 8 Open ladies and 4 Ams Not bad for a little C tier.

it's because anybody can go out and get a basket. but not anybody can go out and get a 1st place ADV trophy. the trophy is something special, a basket is not as special in my opinon. but this is coming from a guy that has 3 baskets (homemade but still baskets) and no trophys (yet!)

all it will take to get a womens disc golf movment going here is a few motivated and organized women that want to start something. there are quite a few women disc golfers out and about, but they need somebody to step up and start organizing a event for just them. even if you get one dedicated lady from each course and have them organize a womens only weekly round or even doubles if you get enough, that would start to make a great impact on the number of ladies that play in PDGA tournaments.

my wife plays and she is really good, but unfortuately she isnt the type of personalty that organizes events, we need some women that are great organizers to get some leagues going.

and for all us guys, we need to be supporting these ladies that want to make something happen in disc golf for the women. weather that would be donating time, money, prizes or just encouragment. :cheerleader::cheerleader:

Do what they did here in Oregon, they started small with the casual chicks-only gatherings. Once those were established, they had many willing hands to help out with the tournament. At least that's my take on it.

I got all excited when I learned that I could win a basket!! I would much rather play for the basket than script, a ziplock of pre-selected crapola, or a cheesy trophy... -- I could then have one at home and one at work! If you want the trophy, win the basket and decorate it as one--

Jub, you're such a ladies man, always looking out for the best interest of the girls-- play on PLAYA!!
I would think that women would be more inclined to participate if they were encouraged by other ladies, not by 'incentives' from crusty old men like Jub... I strongly agree that doing things like the 'chick-flick' would be a good way to recruit more dedicated female players. All jokes aside, I agree that the girls deserve a basket as well.... a laundry basket that is-- perhaps part of the players' pack(the Spring Clean)? JUST KIDDING-- don't get your panties in a bind Tuffi...

Depends on the (format) Layout

NW SE is the only way

#7558
May 5th, 2009, 06:05 PM
Its true. NW and SE courses will be played. players will be playing in 4somes on two different courses. this will make things run much smoother. with no 6 hours rounds. No change to check in time. Same format as years past. two rounds sat one on sun. Sat 2nd round tee will be at 2pm. everyone should wrap up by 4:30 or five sat. and much earlier on sun.

sorry for the change and confusion. I got zero updates from pdga online on sunday. then yesterday I got two days worth, 30 more pushing the field to 151. every division will be larger w/more payout.

tee signs are done for the new format. 10 meter lines around all 36 baskets with arrows pointing to next tee will be done by fri.

Peace

The 6 baskets were not free. they cost over $500 shipped. Ive got to pick someone to give them to. So i choose the winners of the largest am divisions. or should i give them to 2nd place? that would not fly to well.
Also, who said the basket takes place of a trophy. 1st place winners will still receive trophies. if tyvek wins, his basket goes to 2nd place.

dave stewart was added along with 31 others last night.

You are appreciated by many, Ray.

Toby Puttzinski

I was not insinuating that Ray's trophies were cheesy-- I appreciate Ray's efforts as much as anyone... Ray has always been accomodating, and he has been quite flexible for team "Fashionably Late", whenever we show up to a doubles tourney at '2 minutes!!!'

Sorry, just not much of a trophy guy-- not one to display my own trophies, so they just go in a box>> but a basket would get used and shown to friends-- whoever wins it can say, "I got this for winning my division at the Spring Classic!!"
I just wanted to make the point that I liked BASKETS AS PRIZES... WOOHOO!!!
Ok, if I want to have any chance to win that basket this weekend, I better go putt-- off to the fourth floor at work to practice 30 footers--

I will say most tournamnets do have cheesy trophies. Photoshoped Pic dollar store frame. If not cheesy then low budget for sure.

when i read your first post, sounded like the baskets were taking the place of a trophy, thats where i got that idea. it is great that the winners will get both a trophy and basket.

if i win that would be a miracle, because i am working on saturday! not able to play :pullhair::waaah:

i still think that the womens divisions need to be given more stuff than the mens. that goes for all tournaments, not just yours. have special stuff for the women, stuff that they would appreciate more than a man would. like a hot pink disc bag or something.

OH WAIT, Toby said he wanted a hot pink disc bag to go along with his pink polka dot laundry basket!!!!:nahnah:

Funny not one of the events you mentioned is "spin" sponsored. Basket and trophy not much left for scrip.

Personally I don't think there should be a trophy for anyone but first. Ty you forgot CSI and the coolest trophy out there. The mini basket from micro putt. Jet Wash will have some really cool trophies again this year.

Jub, what's with the hostility? Take it easy bro, I've been to your events and there isn't anything more special about them than any other C-tier... But if props is what you are looking for than here they are!

Not hard to complain about a tourney you don't run, but it IS very difficult to run an event without any hiccups or bumps in the road. You of all people should know that. Maybe next year you can help Ray run the event and be a part of making it better. As far as I can see, you are interested in anything but.

All these years and Washington disc golf hasn't changed much. Could be why we can't organize well enough to field a National or World stage event, what with all the bickering and complaining about everything. No wonder we seem so far behind Oregon now.

Somehow things need to change if we are going to have not just pretty good C and B tiers with one occasional A tier, usually on a family holiday. You want to run a first class event, bring all the different groups of golfers around here together. Then maybe you'll have a chance at a first class event. However until then, all your tournies will just be pretty good and "sufficient".

Don't be a hater, be honest about the product you provide... If it's the best you could provide, how could there be anything wrong with that?

Personally, I tend to support TD's that don't toot their own horn.

It's not about being a hater. 4 for payout Paid $90 valued at $135. What about the other two? Why should a single events players pay for series fundraisers? And don't they each generate income? To what end? Bolster SC payout? Great!

Your comment about all pulling together.
Right now not even everyone involved in the WA series is on the same page or there would not be as much inconsistency between events. I am still curious why Ray runs two WA series every year? Is there not someone else in the TDGPA who is capable of running one of them or both? Ray has got to be burned out by now. At least that was the story the day before ASC.

Jub, I tend to not believe rumors... But if Ray is burnt out after the 30 something odd pdga tournies that he has ran I would not be suprised, who would?

I would imagine the TDGPA would gladly welcome any and all willing TD's, especially anyone willing to do multiple tournies and fundraisers every year! People like that are hard to find and even harder to convince that bringing an entire state together is possible.

I personally have no problem donating a portion of my entry to another tournament if helps others make better tournaments. Isn't that what it's about? Maybe there should be a bag tag fund created from players all around the state that the TD's can draw from if they should fall short of projected added cash requirements.

Help a brother or sister out, that's the name of the game.
