Nope, you don't need an invitation. The whole dang disc golf community is invited!
Well.....except for HUK-DMC. But, if he keeps playing like he has been, then he is prolly a shoe in for an invite. :wink2:

Greatest. First. Post. Ever.
Welcome!
You're right, there are events called "invitationals," that technically are not invite-only, like the CSI.
Even the Worlds start out by invite, but are then opened up if not filled by invitees.
Then there are events for which you must qualify, such as for ORDGC or USDGC (Open)...

Gawain,
Many times I have been on tee # 10 at Whistlers Bend DGC and thought of you and all those gigs you brought your basket and chained it up to one of the "birdie crash" trees. Thanks again hombre!
As a result, the nickname of "Treelove" has often been applied to #10 @ WB. I sure hope this makes sense? :chinscratch: :whistler:

I edited my post, since in re-reading it, I was classless. My apologies.
Thanks for the kudos; we were just reminiscing about bringing baskets to Whistler's.
Sorry that editing my post might make your reference not make sense any more, but I had to take it down. Sorry for my poor taste.

G,
All is well bro!
I'm just hoping that you play in this event and I don't have to start you on tee 14! :biggrin2:
FYI (I = information not invitational :wink2:) I am actually looking forward to running a ratings based event in the near future.
PS... if you make the NUI you don't need to bring a basket. :rolleyes2:

Yo Bob Cabal, Bob Chard, Danny Jefferds, Lennie Holland, Boydster, Axel, Brian Wilson, Bruce Sisson, Tare Bear, Kevin Canfield, and all of the rest of you 50-70 year old disc golfers.
I would like to encourage all of you fellers to play in this event and show them youngin's that we can represent.
I will honor a division of 3 if that would help get you all to play.
I introduced a Pro Gr Master and Am Gr Master in the SOWS this year and while it split our normal Pro Masters in half it balanced the playing field respectively.
Yo Hyzerbomb, I could see a Pro SGM division brewing here. :wink2:

The latest online registrations are being regularly updated as we get them.
I do expect to get a few at the Whistlers SOWS gig this weekend and will update.
I'm counting on Suzie Q, Rhonda and perhaps Lauren from down this way to enter. Are you working on Emma and some of the PDX ladies? :biggrin2:

$70.00 for a two round c-tier at Whistlers? Don't mean to be a downer but that seems pretty steep to me. Or perhaps I'm just "a poor". :(

There is always people who don't like prices, but it never looks good when someone complains about prices. Just show the TD and don't play if you think it is to much.

Will,
Sorry man.
You're correct, that is a lot of money
FWIW, I am close to reaching my goal of a 100% payout for all divisions.
In all honesty, I was expecting mostly current PDGA members to enter and then it would only top out at $52 for pro divisions.

No worries Yose. It ain't a shot at you personally as I'm sure you know. I know a little bit about running tournaments, and I'm usually not one to complain. I just haven't played in many tournies recently, because of various life reasons, and am just a little stunned at how a 36 hole tourney could be that much money. Especially a C-tier. Perhaps my values have changed recently, but if I'm dropping that much money on two days of golf, I would at least hope for 54 holes.
With the increasing popularity of tournies in the this state I'm sure you'll sell it out though. And I hope that you do! Best of luck and see you soon...

This got me to thinking about it and I found the table for recommended entry fees in the Tour Standards pdf. :posting: http://www.pdga.com/files/documents/2013_Tour_Standards.pdf
it recommends: $100 for A-tier, $70 for B-Tier, $50 for C-Tier.
I think it did go up from a couple years ago.
I am not trying to step on any toes. I am very very thankful that people take their time and energy to run events for me to play in. :biggrin2:

Yose,
Well, since you asked... Yes, I probably would have offered this up a lot sooner if not for the fact that you pretty much beat me up a while back for wanting to stick to my own vision for the ORDGC. With that little bit of history, I honestly wasn't sure if you'd even be interested in my offer.
However, since I really do like to leave past shit in the past, and I saw your registrations were a little slow, I threw the offer out there anyway. Hopefully, it helps a bit. If not, no one can say I didn't try.
Cheers,

Yose,
I am afraid there may be a flaw in whatever logic you are using to make the gigantic leap from:
Me offering to make this an ORDGC qualifier to help you fill your event.
To:
I need to leave my feelings behind before making decisions that may ill effect others and or the growth of this awesome sport.
If I had not already "left my feelings behind", then I never would have offered in the first place. Right now, I feel like your trying to chastise me for trying to help you out. I'm sorry if my offer wasn't "soon enough" for your liking, but I'll go ahead and chalk this down to another case of "No good deed goes unpunished.".
Now, if you insist on laying blame on why this event is not full, try looking at the decision of making this two 1 day events. Very few people want to drive 4 hours each way to play for a 1 day event. If this had been a two day event as it has been in the past, then it would probably be FULL... just like in the past.

^^ yup and yup (just to the part about why the event isn't filling, you boys are on your own to hash out the ordgc and feelings stuff). i can't make the drive for a one-dayer. 2 rounds on sunday and the drive back to p-town (i mean way the eff out in the boonies outside of p-town) and have to go to work on monday? just. can't. do it.
doesn't mean i have a problem with your event or you running it! the more events the better! it just explains why you're not getting as many non-southern oregon locals to fill it up. i am really bummed that my sched isn't allowing for a whistler's trip this year (no one's fault, just the way the cookie is crumbling this year) and i'm super disappointed to be missing another chance to qualify for the ORDGC...
if you can wrap your head around making it a two dayer next year, yose... you know i will be there!!!

Hey, eugene disc golfers why haven't you signed up for this tournament? I have a good time with you guys so, why is there only one person from Eugene signed up right now for this whistlers tourney that doesn't eat up the whole weekend? Is everyone going to the spring game? Is everyone playing the aloha shushi thing in WA? I'm not trying to call anyone out or anything like that. I just want to be able to say I beat 25 guys. It sounds better than 13.

I'm still thinking about it. I can't speak for anyone else, but there are two disc golf events in Eugene area that weekend - a Worlds Biggest at Alton Baker, and a SHIP fundraiser at Cottage Grove. I imagine more than a few Eugene disc golfers are doing one or both of those.

Jeff,
I sincerely appreciate your "good deeds"! You are definitely a "Good Deed Do'er". :cheerleader:
However, the fact that you only offered it to help with attendance still puzzles me.
Personally..... I honestly, sincerely, really don't give a shit if this gig fills or not. I gave up that worry many years ago. :wink2:
So, no blame and I am sorry that you feel beat up.
Hopefully this will help you to understand my feelings.
When I asked what I could have done to make this a qualifier, I was honestly expecting an answer that would contain criteria for your system. As in, it has to be a B tier, two day event, notify you in advance, etc.
Your answer with the shit form the past caught me off guard. :bricks:
Maybe in the future set a standard as to how gigs can be qualified and perhaps start the year before, so there is less confusion.
Again, you and Magilla better get 2 more players to make a division of 4. :cop:

Here ya go:
I decided to celebrate my 25th year as a PDGA member by getting back into running some PDGA gigs and to encourage people to join.
Plus the fact we now have more PDGA er's down south here than ever, and I kept getting requests from my peeps.
I am one of those TD's who hates to say "sorry, it's full".
One of the main reasons we now have half of our SOWS gigs split into 2 days and partly why I handed the dubs gig off.
So, what I really wanted to do and hope to do next year, is make this event a 'B' tier and hold it on 2 separate weekends.
I feel Whistlers and the fact we could have over 300 people playing is deserving.
With no GNO and peeps wanting to play I grabbed the TD wheel.
I admit I rushed into this and made some decisions that might have not been the best, but it is what it is.
Thanks for all the input + or -, we need it to grow.

:cop::evilgrin:
Speaking purely on that last line.
It isnt our fault that the southern old choads r askeerd of us out of towners. Waz up, Yose...Rally the troops.....and if it comes down to it...I aint askeerd of playing with them youngsters. :nahnah:
Looking forward to it, regardless.

Group camping is $50 for locals who have to ask! :whistler:
Any monies collected over the actual cost of the campground will be Bud's tip!
Does that mean you did reserved camping or you didn't?

Copy on the reserved group camping (section A) for Saturday. Cost is $5 and if the demand is there we can most likely use the other side.
I reserved 'A' because I'd really like to incorporate the old OB line we used to play along 18's fairway by the road.
I am serious though if there is extra cash after paying for the camping, I am giving it to Bud and Marge.
The stress we put him through sometimes is worth it.
There is some more info on the first post of this thread too if ya need. :biggrin2:

5 in a group!!!!!!!!!!!
This ain't no SOWS gig brother! :wink2:
I think we will get quite a few day of signups. :headbang:
I am having trouble uploading new players but for now the pro field is:
Josh Gozzie
Mike Murch
Danny Espinosa
Devin Cordell
Scotty Withers
Nate Sexton
Jeff Layland
Colin Sexton
Justin Joers
Robert "Big Moe" Lockwood
Not a lot, but it's a highly skilled lot.
I am looking forward to watching some of these fellers play!

Absolutely!
I will be down there. The number of slots awarded will be somewhat dependent on the number of entries, But I will guaranty at least this many invites:
MPO: 2
FPO: 1
MA1: 2
FA1: 1
I may add more if there is enough interest.
Jeff,
Here's a heads up!
There are now 22 registered MA1 players and I'm expecting a few more.
Some of these fellers are playing up in hopes to do well and qualify for the ORDGC. I hope this is enough to bump the slots because I know these fellers are excited about getting a chance to play in the ORDGC.
Thanks,
Yose

ummmm... since you asked... not driving four+ hours for a one dayer and instead sitting in the front yard of my non disc golfing bestie in the beautiful willamette valley wearing sundresses, floppy hats, painting our toenails and sipping on some super fancy pants vodka drinks (thanks again Ryan Lane for that fancy pants bottle of vodka i won at the disc go ball for finishing in second to last place)... but none of the rest of y'all are invited so you best go play some golf at whistler's instead, yo. :biggrin2:

Is that a real question? :biggrin2:
$5 per night per person per Saturday night only.
If there are enough peeps who want to stay in the group camping on Friday night, just get together with Bud and pay right there.
I hope this helps.

Still possible that either Grasseth and/or Reichard might come. But they may be askeered too.

Askeered of leaving my dogs alone in the house for 14 hours or more. . . :( I can't get them into a kennel at the time I'd have to leave and they sure won't be open when I get back. I'm still thinking about it though.

Well, I think most are going down to "the City" to watch the Giants hammer the Dodgers!
Although some said the drive was too far, it cost too much, it's only a one day'er and the name of the gig made no sense. :biggrin2:
Other than that I know there will be more day of registrations that I care for, but it is what it is. GO GIANTS!

Unfortunately I suffered a quite severe toe stubbing last night and my big toe nail is threatening to quit his job and peace out for good. I would be a fool to try and compete at this tournament so I have to back out. Is it possible to get my registration fee returned or do I have to bite the bullet because its so close to the tournament?
I still plan on coming down to camp and hang out this weekend though with my buddy ma-josho. I will see everyone out there, bruised black toenail and all!

Yose you put on one hell of a tourney. Can't wait for next year. Thanks again for that disc from hero, as soon as I got home people were trying to buy or trade it from me. But it will never leave my ownership, except the wife has taken a liking to it. See you at wbds.
