Week 10 Semi-finals @ Trojan
8:30am CSL, 9am TEE

The OTDG Trojan layout last year played to an SSA of 56.16 and 56.99
so we will be playing with 9 Ratings Points per Stroke this weekend.

SATURDAY 02/09/13
1. Disc Golf or Die (73.0) @ Droppin Deuces (75.5)
2. Chain Damage (64.0) @ Young Guns (71.5)
3. Hylton Baskets (57.5) @ Born2BFly (58.0)
4. Oregon Disc & Wildlife (56.5) @ Dancing Cows (60.5)
5. OREgrown (53.0) @ Putt It In Your Mouth (55.5)

SUNDAY 02/10/13
1. Good, Bad & Sassy (77.5) @ Darkhorse (78.5) <--- Home & Visitor switched
2. GripLok (73.0) @ Team Skinny (76.0) <--- Home & Visitor switched
3. Big Winds (58.5) @ Putt This! (70.5)
4. Discrupters (44.5) @ Vapor Trails (47.0)
5. Green Bowl Packers (38.5) @ Rockwood Roughnecks (50.0)

For each match the visitor is the team with the lowest match point total from the regular season.

If you know your team isn't going to show at all or will field less than 6 players,
PLEASE post here or contact the captain of the opposing team.
It will be pretty rude to trek out to Trojan only to find no opponent there!

I think there are a few errors with the match point totals and thus the home/away matchups for the first round of the playoffs. The source of the errors appears to be that the week 8 (pier) match point totals are being assigned to the wrong team in a few instances.

To be honest I am not sure whether I would rather be the home or away team but I do think that Darkhorse has 78.5 and will be the home team vs G,B&S by a point or so.

I would hope that we are playing the modified TDG layout, the map for which, can be found on the TDG Facebook page. If that is the case we will need 4 baskets brought out there by volunteers both on Saturday and Sunday. We played the course today, and it looked great out there.

When it comes down to it... I would rather be the visitors. Nothing like handing a loss to the home team, really.

That said, any clarifications or descriptive words one could use for the location of 10 basket and 17 pad would be.. well... gnarly cool.

To answer my own question #1 from the other thread:

*) Any replacement players brought in this "week" cannot play next "week," correct (since they could not possibly accrue the needed 4 OTDG rated rounds required to compete in the finals)?

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8378/8449634996_b3c6186fc8_b.jpg

To answer my own question #2 from the other thread, misunderstood:

*) Were those reportedly inaccurate season point totals double checked and updated?

I spoke with Jordan, he confirmed he found the problem, he will post the updated season point totals shortly, but some bullet points:

*) We did indeed still beat Team Skinny (eat it, Sines :shooting::waaah: ) for first place by tie breaker in the final week.

*) No team's position changed in the league.

*) Home team was reversed for both the GB&S match and the Griplok match.

*) DarkHorse leads in season points, so they will be the home team, meaning we write down our players on the match sheet first in the morning, and vice versa the afternoon, if I followed his explanation correctly.

*) Please don't quote me on this, Jordan's post will be official. Except the "eat it, Sines :shooting::waaah:" part, that's gospel!

Any clarifications or descriptive words one could use for the location of 10 basket and 17 pad would be.. well... gnarly cool.

The basket on hole 10 will be in the small clearing that affords the view towards basket 11 out on the peninsula. This area used to have a few small trees, but they were cut down last year due to disease. So it is basically half of hole 1 of the ORDGC layout.

For hole 17's tee pad: there is a pathway that winds along the lake heading out from just past 16's basket. Follow that path to where it makes a curve and the path is in line with the 17 basket before in continues around and back east towards tee 6 of the ORDGC layout. We will tee from the path this year. I am hoping that this will give us better traction than last year when we just teed off from the grass.

These are the OB rules:
1. OB Water left and parking lot right/long. Only in bounds if inside fenced area once you cross the road. Any OB go to Drop zone by sign.
2. OB Water long and road on right.
3. OB on or beyond path.
4. OB Water long.
5. OB Road right.
6. OB water and road.
7. OB water and road.
8. OB water.
9. OB on pavement or roof.
10. OB parking lot and water long.
11. OB water.
12. OB water and Mando left of last tree on right.
13. OB water and gravel parking lot.
14. OB water left and road and beyond right.
15. OB on or beyond road.
16. OB on or beyond road.
17. OB water and on or beyond road.

Hole #1 "Any OB go to drop zone by sign". I marked a drop zone slightly right of the sign. That is how we played it last year too, I don't see the concern?

Scenario #1 - you drive all the way to the fenced green and then your putt skips off the top of the basket and lands OB. Instead of marking your lie 1 meter from the OB fence where it went out, you have to walk back across the road and shoot your 4th shot from the drop zone.

Scenario #2 You've tried to hit that stupid fenced in area and have landed on your butt after sliding on the mossy tee pad. So you play the skip off the asphalt with a stable disc and take your par with a smile as your opponent cards a bogey.:trophy:

Historically the ORDGC basket placement on that hole is directly behind the tree just outside the fence in a direct line from the drop zone to the pin. It will be there again this year, but since the ORDGC extra cable will not be present the pin will be 10-15' closer to the OB fence line. So it won't take a Gawain Super Hard Putt(TM) to shoot your putt OB.

On hole #4 only the water in the slough before hwy 30 is OB. I think you really meant hole #3 where down by the basket the path makes a little peninsula out of that green. and no anything on the path or beyond it, including the lake, is OB. On hole #5 going into the water/rough on the right is punishment enough, no need for added OB strokes.

Darr,
Just like lunch on week 9, your captain has (LEFT YOU) misinformed. I sent an email to all captains. Here's what I emailed, so you can get up to speed and not be behind, again. (Like 13-16th place).

"Captains Please show up at 8am, and have your line ups ready.

Visitors please do your lineups before 8:15am (It's easy, please hurry)

Home team Fill out matches by 8:40am, and put NO MORE than 4 players TOTAL per tee pad.

Put any extra players beyond 4-per tee pad on Bonus Card, and give to Josh D for hole assignment.

AM Tee Off 9 am if everyone gets ready in time.

PM Tee off 1 pm if lunch goes quick"

In case your feeling like you want to arrive early and actually help, instead of whine and do nothing productive like usual. I will be there at 7am setting things up for your enjoyment. Then when everyone leaves early I will stay late taking it all down, and picking up the trash left behind. Quit whining and help out!

If we would have started early at Milo I would not have had to cut it so close, like leaving at 4:55pm. But you didn't notice because you only care about number ONE, Right?

Scenario #2 You've tried to hit that stupid fenced in area and have landed on your butt after sliding on the mossy tee pad....

Ouch. But, nice par!

On that topic: take relief. I never throw hole 1 from that mossy sidewalk with the exposed round aggregate. I throw from the grass to the left of the sidewalk. It's not the most level ground, and there is a tree root, but you can find a line, and it is much less dangerous. Heck, I am just laying up when we play the tournament pin anyway!

I propose that we continue to allow blanket relief on all teepads during winter team golf. Specifically: up to 2 meters on either side of the teepad, and up to 5 meters behind it.

Let's be safe out there! I have personally transported a player to the hospital from an injury during team golf, and I can name others also hospitalized in seasons past. Let's have a clean, injury-free season!

"I propose that we continue to allow blanket relief on all teepads during winter team golf. Specifically: up to 2 meters on either side of the teepad, and up to 5 meters behind it."

We ALWAYS have this big of tee area? Tomorrow also?
Being able the go back I am clear on... but two meters sideways? That not only gets you off the tee "area" but also can get you around a tree and a whole new, better/easier shot.

Is GS's statement accurate as an ongoing TDG supplementary safety rule? Will it be in affect tomorrow? Mr. Lewis?...

I'll be interested to see if that opens up my shot selection more. Not saying it will do me any good... (but playing George I should be fine anyway!)

ps. George- Looks like 5 for us as of an hour ago. I can only hope the giant baby changes his mind in the morning.

Pretty sure that congrats are in order to Darkhorse for an amazing win. Tied 2.5-2.5 in the morning. Tied 3-3 in the afternoon. Came down to strokes and the rough math we did leaves us believing that the moustached crew took it by 4 strokes. No matter... this was one of my favorite weeks of one of my favorite seasons of TDG. Thanks to my amazing team and the amazing team that we competed against.

The loss hurts... but I am proud of each and every member of Good, Bad and Sassy. They fought their hearts out all year and we succeeded as a team.. and it looks like today we lost... as a team. We party Tuesday night like champions.

A few thanks are in order:

Thanks to:

Steve Carson (Firefly) for loaning me his Chainstar

Adin Nelson (Droppin Deuces) for helping me haul out #10 basket

Myk Nemeth (Droppin Deuces) for bringing and placing #9 basket

Murray (The Brit) Prictor for bringing and placing #17 basket

Kevin (Oregrown) for buying food and arranging with Gordo to get it to us even though your team was forced to miss Saturday.

Zach Richer and the Putt it in your mouth team for showing even though your opponent bailed

Matt Hylton (Hylton Baskets) and anyone else helping him for hauling #10 and #9 baskets back

Darr & Lonell for never forgetting to mock me and help me stay humble

Josh & Megan Pierce, and Adin Nelson for a great dinner afterward

Chain Damage for a great match beating us at our best

Young Guns & DGOD for a great group that truly is like a family of friends

And all the Saturday players for helping me where you can, and being patient with me when I was short or acting high-strung while trying hard to meet the tough standard Jordan has set the bar at. Great season, with a fun group of people. I look forward to the finals at Milo for sure.

Thank YOU, Josh, for making this a great TDG season! Also props to Kevin for coming through with food and representing where the team couldn't. Don't consider this the end of OreGrown! We'll be back for Milo and pushing on in the 2013-14 season, no question. Cheers,

-Harrison
