Justin (and any one who wants to chime in),
I sign up for most events as Advanced Grandmasters when possible and Advanced Master most of the rest of the time.
Except for a rare event like last years Slosh at Dabney, I tend to be near last if not last in these divisions.
I believe my rating supports my statements.
I really don't care about how I rate to others.
I play against myself. (I typically lose to that guy!)
Is this an event (in your opinion) that I can sign up for?
From your first post it looks like it.
Anyway, GREAT idea.
I would love to play just to play with all the Disc'ers at N. Bonneville.
Maybe I can or can't play but I CAN help out. Let me know.

Salmon chowder lunch Saturday. Amnesia beer Sunday tapped prior to the final nine to juice up the crowd. And a par 38 final nine to cap off the tournament. Trophies will be awarded to the top three finishers of both divisions. The final nine I have devised is no joke. It will test every shot you have as well as your mental game.

I am only offering the top two amateur divisions for this competition. I myself am a Masters golfer and feel I have created a fair loophole for all divisions. Players who win this event may register for any amateur division that is open to them at the Beaver State Fling. Bonneville DGC will be set up in a layout that caters to control and accurate golf shots. There will be plenty of string lines, mandos and OB. In essence this is a tournament that rewards skill and mental fortitude over hucking and hoping for a look at the basket. This is going to be a great event for a great cause. I am working very hard to make sure all who attend have a rewarding disc golf experience. Free lunch, free beer and players pack of Dri fit shirt and your choice of Roc or BB Aviar is a good start.

THE NEW DEAL.
I have added all amateur divisions represented at the Fling with the exception of Senior Grandmasters. The top four scores regardless of division play in the final nine for the "Golden" ticket.
I hope this move bolsters interest in the event which will in turn help raise money for the premier disc golf tournament in the NW. Even if you cannot play the Beaver State Fling this is a great opportunity to support a worthy cause, play a great modified version of a fun course and hang out with friends in the beautiful Columbia River Gorge. Players pack, Saturday salmon chowder lunch and Amnesia beer. You will not be disappointed!

I would have to agree, the course looks great, and the weather was gorgeous. The only issue was trying to get in two rounds while playing through Sines' group of ten twice!
Justin, what should we expect as far as OBs and mandos are concerned this weekend? And looking at the long term weather report, it looks like we should expect rain.

Zimm, all I can say is that you should expect both OBs and Mandos to be in play for the NW Contender. Maybe a couple island greens one with no drop and mandatory retee? I will post specs tonight or tomorrow.
Also if you are not current with the PDGA either get that done this week or expect to pay an extra $10 before I let you hit the course for Saturdays rounds.
As far as rain is concerned, we are from the NW, deal with it!!

With the new Mando rules, remember there is no "default drop zone"
So since there are only two stated drop zones, it sounds like there will be
a lot of "replay from previous lie" or "reteeing" going on...

There will be marked drop zones for all mando areas. There are only 2 mandatory drops. You will see why when you get here on Friday. With the mandatory drops you have to take your next shot from there no matter where you went OB on that hole. There is only one hole playing as a mandatory retee.

Cool thanks! I am glad to hear this. I know the PDGA made a subtle change so there is no longer a "default drop zone" for a missed Mando. Sorry if I introduced confusion...

Sounds good but that plan does not let people practice it before the have to play it for real. I mean there is a Amateur BSF2013 entry on the line here for the competitors. Can you scratch out a map and brief description per hole for the masses.

My plan was to work on it with Gwillim during first round Saturday and have a map ready to go by lunch. It's a very self explanatory layout. No real surprises. Very easy to navigate using the layout instructions I have posted. The Tee #11 to hole #12 mando will be having to go around the corner by basket #11 and then up the hill.
I plan on giving the four players ample time to check the layout before the final nine as well.

I have to state that I am super proud of the NW disc golfers that showed up to the Contender over the weekend. The weather was really bad. And wasn't just a little wet, or a little windy, it was REALLY windy at times and there were a few torrential downpours mixed in. Especially during the final nine.
Even considering the beautiful Gorge weather, everyone seemed to be having a genuinely good time.
Also, we only had three drop-outs which was pretty amazing. And each of those guys had the courtesy to make sure the TDs were aware of their decision well in advance. That makes the TD job so much nicer, kudos to you guys!
And finally, thanks to Mayor Don for your hospitality, and to Justin Gross for your vision and follow-through on this great event.
Next year lets fill this.

Great tournament! It was the most fun I've had at a tournament in a long time and it looked like everyone was having fun. I was completely thrilled to be part of it (and even the final 9!) despite some less than spectacular weather.
Was there an ace pot? I got my first tournament ace!
Congrats to Victor and Jackolyn on their Golden Tickets to the BSF. I'll be rooting for both of you from the sidelines, unless of course I win the lotto.
