Just thought I would throw this out there so people can start planning. I should have the flier and online signups figured out by the end of the week...assuming life does not get in the way.

I will attach the artwork for this year. Please note that I cannot attach high res/quality artwork :(

Online Registration from 4discgolf (http://www.4discgolf.com/ASC13)

Lodging: I truly suggest you figure it out NOW since it is Spring Release Weekend and rooms WILL fill up before April let alone May.

Any suggestions on camping or hotels?
Anyone from the Spokane area going that would want to travel together?

Site camping near the course would be http://www.bluevalleyrv.com/
However, in the past my back yard has played host...heck my whole house plays host on a contact me and we will reserve you a spot. I will once again be opening my house and yard.

I am also working on another place or two for lodging/camping but have not received an answer yet from a few local players.

I will attempt to wrangle up some answers this week and get contact information posted.

Personally I can't say enough GREAT things about the TDs, Hosts, and coordinators for this event!

If you haven't been to an ASC yet, stop missing them and attend!

I know Devin hopes to be the first person signed up this year!!

Tim will still be deployed overseas, but this is on my "can't miss list" so Devin will be there playing and I'll be there dyeing discs... Tim or No Tim :) and I'm sure we'll have a few others from Whidbey Island tagging along!

CAN'T WAIT GUYS! :shooting:

I have updated the pdga (http://www.pdga.com/tournament_results/100830/1403731447) and I have also started the first round of fundraising.

We were lucky enough to get some prodigy discs in so we are selling them for a bit more than we would usually. After cost is covered the proceeds will be go to ASC.

If you are interested they are $20 each or 3 for $50.

So what mold(s) would you like to see in the players pack (pro disc) and what mold(s) would you like to see as the CFRs?

Hello, there is an intermediate women's division on the sign up sheet, there just might not be any FA2 women signed up yet.

I'm not the TD for this event, but speaking from experience there's generally not a HUGE amount of women, so filling Rec women and Int. women doesn't often happen.

You CAN sign up for Int women online at http://www.4DiscGolf.com/ASC13 look for FA2

I hope that helps!

Didn't make it last year, but had a great time the year before. Our crew from The Dalles will be there this year. Just signed up! We tent camped a Blue Valley RV and it was great. They have a lot of lawn area and showers. Wasn't expensive and is not too far from the sushi place or the tournament.

Now that nearly 150 players have registered for the Aloha Sushi Classic... it's time to start talking disc dyes!!

I WILL be on site, dyeing discs to order AT the tournament, but I can ONLY do black dyes on site! So if you'd like a COLORED DYE you will need to arrange that with me by April 20th.

Also if you want a BLACK dye at the tournament, but it's a design that I don't currently offer, PLEASE e-mail or message me by April 30th so I can arrange that with you and have it ready for you at Walla Walla.

Kris is there anything we can so to get more players out there? Add more holes?

Adding holes is not an option...we only have so much space the city is "allowing" us to borrow.

I am stuck with some (8) dreaded 5somes with the MA1, MPO, MPM, and MPG field (I might just expand to having 5somes with all the cards on that flight).

I think most of the open men would love more cash in the division (obviously payout is 40%) However, last night I lost sleep since I hate 5somes so much I dont want the event to be crap due to them.

Oh well...I will figure something out

Looks like to avoid a billion fivesomes I will run two ghost groups...it does end up causing one 5some :) but its better than 8. By going to the ghost group I think I will be able to raise the cap to 152.
Please realize that I will fill the openings in order of the list but the first criteria will be division need. As of right now I think I will be able to add one MA1 and One MA2

Please also note that only the first 145 registered will get a shirt (sorry only ordered so many). However, everyone should get the rest of the players pack appropriate for their division.
Ams: Shirt, pro disc (choice of one of five molds), weighted mini, and METAL bagtag all custom stamped

You still have a few weeks to get your COLORED discs order for delivery at ASC. Visit www.DiscAddiction.com for the latest designs OR if you'd like something custom designed please send me a message.

BLACK designs that are on the site will not have to be pre-ordered and I can put them ON YOUR DISC during the tournament starting at $10. If you'd like a BLACK design done on your disc at ASC that ISN'T on the site, contact me so I can work with you ahead of time to have the design ready to be placed on your disc at ASC!

Last year I was only able to do about 30 discs during the weekend so PLEASE drop off your disc(s) ASAP Saturday morning to help ensure I can get your disc finished by the award ceremony Sunday. If I can't finish your disc, I can ship it back to you for an additional $3 (if you can live without it for a few days :D)

Any questions, feel free to send me a PM and I'll try to answer them!

Just so that everyone can be aware. Due to the overwhelming demand to play ASC I have increased the max number of players to 155. To do this I have inserted ghost groups. Fivesomes and ghost groups are two things I hate...but I have a few of each lol.

There will be two ghost groups on the Pro Divisions (men only) and advanced flight. There will be one ghost group (added three more ladies) on the Pro Womens, AMAT womens, INT, REC, and JRs flight. There are no FIVESOMES on the second flight but there will be two groups of fivesome on the first flight.

Just wanted to let everyone know so they can send their hate mail now. :bricks:

Also if you registered online as being current with your pdga membership but it shows up as non-current on the pdga site you still owe me $10. This has to be paid at check in.
I will work on a list after WRO this weekend.
Thank You
Kristopher

I don't think having 5somes on each hole is a big deal. Traditionally, the WA St. Series has filled at most venues, with 5 on a hole.
Adding ghost groups, on the other hand, can really piss people off if there's a backup anywhere on the course.
Just tossing in my 2 cents worth.

Thank you sir Stimpi....i will do some crunching and see what fivesomes instead of ghost groups will look like. The three FPOs that were added will be a ghost group though for those numbers I have already crunched.

Did the math...the only ghost group will be the FPO's Was able to add two more open masters to the field by moving some numbers around.

Those that have arranged camping with me...please email me @ Kristopherbland@charter.net with your contact information including how many tents you will have and the number in your party. Not all of you will be at my house a few of you get to stay at another location (other club members yard).
Those camping at my house dont forget my family is providing dinner friday night. I need this number so I can arrange how much lasagna, salad, and garlic bread to make. (well the garlic bread is bought but the lasagna will be home made :))

Okay lets get into some ASC details:

The local BMX club is once again providing food/drink vending. 100% the money they raise goes right back to their club to help with their events. Our club offers them the vending position for free and expect nothing in return (other than them not having racing that weekend). The past two years they have had breakfast and lunch options with good prices.

The players party has changed venues. In the past, we have swamped Aloha Sushi's little shop and this year we have elected to go to a dedicated site. We elected to work with the local Elks lodge and rent out one of their halls. I will have more details on this event as I am allowed to release them :) But please plan on attending and show our title sponsor that being our title sponsor is a good thing ;)

For the first year that I remember we will have a clinic Saturday following the round. The clinic is geared more to the newer players as well as the younger players; however, I think players from all skill levels may learn something. Zoe Andyke's description of what to expect is below.
"Content will include basic fundamentals of the game, briefing rules & etiquette, and demonstrations from our current Women's Oregon & Washington state champions, Dustin Keegan & Chris Becker.
There will also be time for a question & answering session at the end of each segment.
-Recommended $15 donations to attend, all proceeds go toward sending Our local traveling professionals to this years World Championships!"

Danni and disc addiction will be there on site doing single color work (black) while you play so get your orders in early.

Justin Gaston and born2bfly will be there as well offering his awesome gear.

Three raffles are to be expected.
The first raffle is the skins raffle. Once again we will raffle off the 4 best MPOs (if there is a tie for 4th then the number will go up) for at least nine holes of alternate shot play. As per years past winners tee on the even holes and pros tee on the odd holes regardless of who had the last shot. This raffle cannot be won by any man in the open field be it open, masters, or grandmasters. Sorry pro masters and pro grandmasters you are not eligible to win this year. FPO's can win. :)
Once again the tickets will be $5 each and 100% of this money goes to the skins fund and all tickets not drawn will be added to the item raffle drawing.

Item Raffle- We have been lucky enough to garner support and have a table full of stuff to raffle off. These tickets will be a $1 each and proceeds go right back to payout across every division.

Special Disc Raffle- our third raffle is $2 a ticket with all non winning tickets being added to the items raffle. Danni has done up two discs with the FWWDGC logo on them and donated them to this raffle.
ALL funds from this raffle go right back to payout across all divisions as well. :)

Please realize only the first 145 signed up will get a full players pack but all AM players WILL be able to get a custom stamped disc and mini. Open players that signed up after 145 should be able to get a mini as well. Sorry shirt orders/bag tags/innova stuff were done in February but at least you get to play :)

T minus 2 weeks

Our title sponsor plays host to the players party. Usually we are at their small restaurant which is easily overcrowded (can only seat 30ish). Due to this success in the past Jon and Paul elected to rent out a facility, hire a band, and still find money to sponsor us. :)

The players dinner/party will be at 6:30 Saturday, May 4th at the Elks Lodge at 351 East Rose Street. (its about 2/3 of a mile from their store).

They will be offering their full menu, including the best Teriyaki :), and thanks to the wonders of the internet be able to accept Visa, Mastercard etc.
My understanding is that Sake bombs will be there along with access to the rest of the Elks bar :)

This is our easiest way as players to say "Thank You" to Aloha for making the Aloha Sushi Classic possible and in return be able to fill up on food from one of the best restaurants in the Walla Walla Valley.

Same layout as last year?

Course wise: It changes very little but since we are going off memory pins and tee pads are slightly varied.
Recs and Jrs will have several shortened holes and am currently working on the exact list still.

Who is playing which course or course play order: All Pros (except women) and Advanced will play black, blue, and then black again.
All other divisions will play blue, black, blue.

Saturdays blue course layout will be as long/difficult as i can make them.
The black course will be set up to the shortened pins/teepads on Saturday.

Sunday they will flip flop...blue will be shorter and black will be longer.

Hope that answered your questions

Due to size restrictions I cannot post the course pdfs for you :(

What time is dubs on Friday? Blue course?

Dubs should be around 5...it never starts on time :) and we meet on the sign board side of the park by blue one. However, not sure if it is going to be blue or black for the dubs round.

Kris, I just wanted to be sure you had this rule handy for this weekend... I mean WOW what "horrible weather" for your tourney this weekend...

Not all can be great for Aloha......:headbang:

I am sad to inform everyone that we are not able to have the players party at the Elks. Jon and Paul from Aloha Sushi did not go into the details and I just found out about it.

We will just revert back to what we have done in the years past....show up with your buddies to Aloha Sushi and wash away the rounds with Sake Bombs and Sushi.

Those interested I will be there about 7pm but feel free to go whenever you like. They usually only stay open til 9 but if we are eating and drinking....they will not kick us out :)

Years past if they knew you were with the tournament they either treated you very kindly with portions or gave a discount or sometimes both. Either way the food is delicious :)

Stimp

I agree! Got stuck behind an intermediate women ghost group a couple weekends ago at the Disco Ball and it prolonged the round by 2 hours!!! Although it was extra windy and 27 holes, but still. The next day they spread those girls out into other groups and the speed of play was MUCH faster!

No need to worry about ghost groups...I managed to arrange groups so there are none....just fivesomes on the adv and open mens flight :)

If anyone knows what happened with that last round, it would be an awesome play by play. I thought Kyle Crabtree was in 4th or 5th at the beginning of the round but ended up at 2nd (General Scales speculated that Kyle would take the Sushi this year). would love to hear the story. Congrats to Mr. Keegan on an awesome win.

I spent some time after getting food in the belly looking over future dates for Aloha.

We will not move to before the Windy River Open
Third weekend of April- Windy River Open
4th weekend of April (last full weekend)- Ren Faire at Whitman which brings alot of people to the area. Pros to it is that some hotel space is available. The big con is people would have to choose between WRO and ASC for two weekends in a row of travel is too much for most of us. It is also the wone big dog show that WW does...and there is something else going on.
Also to maintain the course we need the weekend before ASC to work work work...this would make it so we locals could not support our big brothers up in Tri Cities.

Second weekend in May...mothers day (not going to tread there) and then to top it off it is Balloon Stampede Weekend....hotels are even harder to find.

Third weekend of may usually the weekend before Memorial Day is well in the same boat as WRO and ASC would be...having to make a choice between two events. I am sure LCO likes the weekend event before the event to make sure that everything is ready...maintenance wise. Oh and its the graduation week for the two big colleges in town.

Memorial Day weekend (lco) and even if it was open....we would not take it for we feel as a club it is a family weekend and opening of true camping season.

June is out of the question due to the number of disc events and club member commitments.
July and August...nope don't wish to kill you in the heat...disc golf is suppose to be fun.

Of course things change (two new hotels are in the planning/final city approval stages...but the best thing is to reserve a hotel early :) or find a yard to camp in. I will work with the city about getting us something in the future...hopefully at FWW.
Oh moving before Windy is not on the table due to the course...spring just has not had its time on the trees, flowers, grass, etc. :)

Thank you again to all you players who make Aloha such a blast to be a TD of. :)

Congrats to Mr. Keegan on an awesome win.

Kyle was in 5th going into the last round but only 3 strokes or so back from the lead. It was anybody's game with 1-10th only separated by 6 strokes.

Both Dustin and Crabtree shot solid 47's the last round. Dustin, Crabtree, Thorton and myself were all within 3-4 strokes of each other the last half of the round.

Hole 16 I throw OB long over the fence lay up for 4, Dustin takes a 3, Crabtree cans a birdie to be one stroke back from Dustin and I.

Hole 17 (man eater) Crabtree throws a nice roller within 45. Dustin throws a nice flex over the tree to land safe 70-80 out. I throw lefty to within 45 or so. Dustin makes a nice safe run, Crabtree come up an inch shy on his birdie putt. I hit my putt for birdie, never got that one before. :yay:

Hole 18 I throw my trusty eagle into a slight variable headwind that lasers 400+ feet straight down the road OB :bricks:, Crabtree throws a safe hyzer 30 ft short but in a tree, Dustin throws a safe hyzer 30 ft right, I take my relief and throw my upshot 25' short into a tree. Crabtree puts through a tiny gap in the tree and smashes the top band. Dustin misses his 30ft. I hit a limb putting out of my tree. We all tap in with Dustin on top by one, Crabtree and I tied for 2nd, and Thorton one stroke back in 4th.

It was dramatic and exciting to say the least.

What a fantastic event (as always really) but most of you already know that Kris is a generous TD, and runs a well organized event... so I want to bow down to Kris as a TD champion for getting more "juniors in the game!"

Kris not only allows juniors to play, he encourages them to come. How does he do this? Because he takes just a few minutes to think about shortening the longest holes with flags. This way the kids have some birdie runs and doesn't effect the flow of play for anyone else in a tournament... WIN WIN!!

With this in mind Kris had a 7 year old young lady come play, how amazing for the sport.

Keep up everything you're doing down there Kris!!! Yeah, he makes it fun for the big kids too :D
